From drinks on a Friday to a Sunday Roast to round out the weekend, this place hits all the high notes. This place has a great energy about it. You can come in and get a quality drink from local beers to solid cocktails. Then on Sunday, you must come for a roast. What a treat. Expertly cooked meats and gravies and sides that warm your soul. Nothing better for a winter weekend than a meal like this. Get a reservation and get there early so your fav meats don't run out, as once they are out, no more roast. Lovely wine list and friendly service. You can't beat it!

Let me clarify something. This pub at midday on a weekend: 5 stars. This pub in the evening on any day of the week: 2 stars. With its island bar, fantastically friendly and skilled bartenders, spacious tables, generous availability of weekend papers, gastropub menu, projector screen for sport and tasty-delicious drinks, the Alma is a perfect place to spend a leisurely and boozy weekend afternoon, preferably nestled in the corner by the open fire in the winter months. But with its incredibly close proximity to Wandsworth Town station in conjunction with all the aforementioned pros of this pub (barring, perhaps, the weekend newspaper bit), the Alma is a heinously busy place to be in the evening, surrounded by every Wandsworth local in varying states of intoxication. I'm not a big fan of the fans of this pub in the evenings, therefore, I steer well clear of it. But after it played a happy host to me and seven of my friends this past Sunday afternoon - and after I consumed two expertly prepared bloody marys - my estimation of the Alma has changed; I can say with confidence that it's a bloody excellent place to be if you're a local in Wandsworth on a weekend (particularly if you like bloody marys).

This is a nice pub in Wandsworth. Every time I have been there the atmosphere has been good. It has never been completely packed or completely dead. This might be different at other times though. The service is always friendly and quick. The food looks good, but I haven't tried it yet. This pub's location is almost perfect. It is right across the street from the train station. It's an ideal place to stop for a pint on your way home from work.

Opposite the train station - nothing better than classic Young's beers and only a step off the train!

It's at the bottom of a Holiday Inn, or at least, it appeared to be that way, and was a strange mish-mash of a pub. I think it was trying to feel like it was really old, yet it had the strangest collection of furniture and decor. We had a blast making fun of this tavern. Tables were laid out in sort of a weird fashion and at first we were really close to this group of 20 somethings that were fairly drunk and really obnoxious and a woman who was sitting by herself at a table for 6 who was reading a book while her food sat off to the side. The drunk group left and it got nice and quiet and so did the woman who had a better table than we did so we took her table. Nothing we drank was anything we'd ever come back for. There are way too many good pubs in London. Unless everything else is closed and this is the only option, go elsewhere!

The food looked (and smelled) good but it was only liquid libations for us. Great staff, everyone was friendly. Not sure what the thing about hotel guests only is, I'm sure there were other people here and they weren't checking for room keys.

Confirmed with our hotel concierge, we set foot for The Anglesea Arms. When we got there, there were about 100 lads and lasses outside enjoying pints and conversation. Thought we would have to settle elsewhere for our grub. We decided to inquire inside and found the restaurant side to be relatively empty, this was about 7pm. Josh was our wonderful waiter. We all enjoyed our fish ( golden fried haddock) and chips, along with a few pints of local lager. Wonderful atmosphere. Highly recommend this pub. As a note, when we exited, we discovered even more lads and lasses had congregated outside. If your young and enjoy a few pints, this was a hot spot, at least on a Friday evening.

We came by to just take pictures to send to them but decided to pop in for drinks and lunch. It was 12:30 and we were hungry from walking around all morning. We sat outside on the patio out front. It had a reserved sign on the table but the hostess said we can have the table. It was a hot day with maybe the 3rd or 4th heat wave of the summer! We wanted to sit outside but in the shade. The table they gave us was perfect! The pints and cocktails were a perfect start. We ordered: Crab malfade £20 Chicken and Parm Ham Schnitzel £20.50 Fish & Chips £22.50 Only the crab malfade was good. The rest of the meals were not great but we were hungry so we ate them. Still giving them a 4 stars for great ambiance and service. Definitely more of a drinks spot.
