Best fish and chips I've had on this trip to the UK. Had some very good service and really enjoyed the atmosphere. It's just a friendly neighborhood pub with good lighting, a friendly garden area, and a good kitchen. The menu is not too large, so they can focus on the quality of the few things they do serve. Street parking only. Fish had a very crunchy crust. The minted mushy peas served on the side were a delightful surprise. read more

Lovely little pub, with twinkling lights and full beers. We had the special pie of the day, which was chicken, bacon, leek and mushrooms, and absolutely delicious. It was my mom and I's first meal in London and it was a treat to say the least. The sausage rolls and fries were excellent and everyone was very sweet and kind to us! read more

The food in this place is pretty good and I would go so far as to state that a Sunday roast here is one of the best I've had in a long time. Just thinking about it makes me hungry. However, the only thing that stops me from handing out five stars is the service, because on a Sunday it gets so busy the staff can't even think or manage their tables correctly, which is a shame because the food really is excellent. The result of the poor service meant we had to wait 20 minutes before being allowed to place an order (why couldn't they just take the order and then put it in when the kitchen was less busy?!) and then wait even longer because they just didn't notice and then after the meal, we again had to wait to be able to order dessert by which time, there were no chocolate bombes left. The table next to us, got the last one sadly. I had to enviously watch them eat it. However, I've been here during the week too, when it's quieter and more chilled out and the staff are far more friendly, the service is so much better and the atmosphere more relaxed. I think I had a burger that time, which was pretty good. I struggled to manage the triple fried chips even though they were pretty awesome. I would say that the Prince Albert is a really lovely place, especially during the week, but the only problem is just to hire more staff on weekends to handle the rush. read more

Nice-looking pub in the backstreets of Camden. Comfortable seats inside; a small garden with several tables protected by shrubs outside; and a proper dining room upstairs. Great choices of ale, and three (3!) types of bottled pear cider. Didn't eat today, but the Sunday roast and desserts looked great. You can sign up for their newsletter on their website. EDIT: was back again yesterday. Just as nice as last time. Not busy at all, and we sat both outside and inside (after it got too chilly). Inside is spacious and comfortable. Both the clientele and staff were all realy nice, with a really smiley, friendly vibe. I may go back yet again as I see that there's several events coming up: a real ale festival the first weekend in October, a Halloween dinner, a jazz band night, and more. read more

Was quite small for the price, and just a small pot of chips. Don't even remember the salad, if there was one. Not worth the £11 I was charged. My heart lives in London, and it lives right here at the Prince Albert. Good any time of the day, for lunch (the food is fantastic ), to late at night for music and a pint. Staff are fun and friendly. Its ideally nestled on a quiet road just a short walk from Kings Cross and St. Pancras. They have the classic assortment of drafts with a few rotating flavors that may surprise you. Wow, how am I the first to have Yelped Price Albert? (is it just me, or did that sound kinda dirty?) Well to be fair, it's not like it's my first time here, yet I'm just now reviewing, I'm sure other Yelpers can be as lazy as me. Well heading there again and reviewing it is me getting off my lazy ass, and boy am I glad I did! In the past I've come on Sundays and had a great roast experience. This time I figured I'd give it a go on another day and see what it was like. I started with a beef carpaccio, arugula (rocket for you Brits) and cherry tomato salad. It was simply dressed with good olive oil, some coarse salt and pepper. The beef was amazing and added some sweetness to the salad and was well balance by the pepperiness of the arugula (and pepper) and the bit of acidity added by the tomatoes. Chopping the arugula a bit, adding a chunk of the tomato, rolling all that into a slice of the carpaccio, spearing it with the fork, and smearing it in the olive oil, almost a perfect bite. The only thing I may have added was a tad bit more acid, perhaps a drop or two of lemon juice. For main I had lamb cutlets with asparagus and some sort of coarse green olive tapenade. Asparagus was cooked perfectly, lamb was a bit overcooked. The flavors of the dish came together well. I had a couple glasses of a great Argentinean Malbec/Syrah with the salad and the lamb. I finished my meal with a glass of Lagavulin neat and a cheese plate. The plate had an aged cheddar (that had a nice streak of blue), a mild blue, and a brie. To accompany the cheese was some great savory parmesan shortbread, red grapes and some sort of fruit compote. A nice touch was that the cheese plate was served on black slate. Will definitely be keeping my eye out for menu changes here to try new things that sound good. read more

Tried this out for the first time this weekend and was very favourably impressed. The pub is down a quiet street just opposite the canal (though without a view of it). The tap selection is excellent, with a few beers I had never heard of before and an old favourite, rarely seen in London, the excellent Castle Rock (Nottingham) Harvest Pale, which might the quintessential summer ale--I wouldn't know, since I tend to drink it all the year round. The space has excellent "corner karma" and is very light and airy inside, with a combination of large windows, comfortable couches, and the typical pub stools and tables. Everything is clean, though it has the typical slightly-run-down feel of many Camden traditional pubs. There is a small but pleasant outside area, sheltered from the street by pleasant greenery. The staff are extremely friendly, offering me samples of any beer I wanted to try. The food looks good, but perhaps a bit on the pricey side. I didn't try it, and will update my review when I do. The clientele was a very pleasant mixture of younger and older folks, from hipster couples to small families. The atmosphere was relaxing in the extreme, and a sharp contrast with the boisterous, jam-packed booziness of The Enterprise across the canal (also an excellent pub, but more more of "a scene"). The pub hosts various events and offers some very attractive specials (including £5 Bloody Mary's on Sundays and $6.50 cocktails on Thursdays--a steal in NW1!). All told, an excellent pub in every capacity, and well worth a stop if you are in the area. read more

Nice enough place with spacious dinning room upstairs. A bit away from the main drag in Camden - but as this is Camden that could be viewed as a good thing. On the upside they knock out fair gastropub food in a pleasant atmosphere. Nothing ground breaking here and the execution could be lifted a little (I got cabbage with my Pan Fried Pollock - menu claim spinnach, a small point but still slack) On the downside they were slow on service, the wine list is very short and not particularly interesting. We came here on the half-price mains deal from Toptable - so it was fairly priced with the discount. But on the whole I wouldn't rush back to and pay for list price. read more

Yes you've got your Hawley Arms and your Good Mixer and Barfly, all infamous and great Camden pubs that are dotted along the High Street or just off. But where do you go when you want to visit a non touristy, cool, local Camden pub....The Prince Albert! Its about a 5 minute walk from Camden Tube station and what I absolutely love about Camden is that you get your usual touristy/well known route around the lock and markets and along the high street but there's also some hidden little gems just slightly set back from the high street, proper neighbourhood feel places. This pub is definitely one of them. This one is hard to describe, there's some contradictions in here because in brief this pub really is for everyone! *As its in Camden there could be a hipster, cool vibe to it one day and then you might go another day and its just local born and raised Camden families enjoying a drink and their dinner. Its an 'everyone's welcome' kinda place *The craft beer selection isn't vast but they do have Brooklyn on tap and other great beers in bottles and its more of a Great British tradional pub vibe (with a cool edge), rather than a pure craft beer place anyway. They also use the upstairs bar as a cocktail bar and have DJ's playing on occasion up there too *The food is incredible, you may find local business workers popping in for a bottle of wine and a sharing platter during the week after work (hummus and pitta and the prawns in filo pastry are recommend!) Plus the Sunday menu is epic including lots of fish options and pies from Pieminster, as well as your usual Sunday roasts where anyone and everyone turn up on a Sunday *The Prince Albert is also known as a great wedding reception venue, in fact a good friend of mine had her wedding do there and absolutely loved it! *They also have live music/bands on some nights and quiz night on a Tuesday If you want to slow down the pace a bit in Camden and try an alternative option away from the high street or markets then this is your place for a cozy pub feel and some chill time. Decent enough cosy pub a bit removed from the wilds of Camden Town. Slightly fewer stumbly ex-students being sick in the street. A dark hallway where you might be stabbed* on the way to the loo. Three cask ales and a selection of lagers. A basic, nice, cosy pub. Some comedy & other events upstairs. *seriously, you won't be stabbed, but in the 10 feet or so it goes completely black. We went to Prince Albert yesterday for Sunday lunch... the pub decor is nice and also the patio outside. It was a bit windy, so we took our lunch indoors. I was not impressed with the food at all. For starters, we ordered Roast beetroot, aged feta, red amaranth and raddicchio salad and chicken pate. Salad was small, and nothing special (mainly green leaves with some beatroot and raddish); the chicken pate was delicious, but only served with 2 small pieces of bread, that was not even enough for half of the terrine. We asked the waiter for some more bread and he (generously?) brought two more. For mains, we ordered Roast beef and pork leg: same lay out of the dish, same vegetable in both of them... nothing exciting to share. The pork was nice but the roast beef was kind of cold and not specially tender. We decided to try dessert somewhere else in Camden Lock, after the experience with the starters and mains. Nice place but our food experience could have be much better... I will not be back. read more

Nice pub hidden away from the main street in Camden, so actually a much more relaxing place to hang out, even on a Saturday evening when it has a few people in, but doesn't get full. I hate places where drinkers are packed like sardines. There also an outside area for the summer. On some occasions they have a barbecue out there. Decent selection of drinks. 3 ales on tap, unless you turn up during an Ale Festival when the choice is naturally much greater. The pub seems to do regular events of some nature or other so you might find something you fancy. There is a restaurant upstairs but had a feeling it was a little bit upmarket. Could be worth a look though. Not sure which Prince Albert this is named after as their have been a few, so I have made my own mind up that it is in fact named after an intimate male piercing, because royalty get enough pubs named after them as it is! read more

We got married a couple of weeks ago and had our reception at this pub. Me, my husband and every guest was genuinely impressed with the whole event. The food was delicious and came very quickly. We did give them the requested table plan but everyone got the right food and in amazingly good time which alot of places can't seem to manage and it was all hot which I cannot say for a lot of the weddings I've been to! The options we had for the wedding breakfast were good and catered to all price ranges depending on your choices/budget. The staff were helpful throughout the process. We were allowed to add person touches to the pub and the staff arranged for it all to be put out so it really took a weight off our mind. When we arrived it looked great and everything was done to our request. The pub is cozy and atmospheric with warm lighting. We had the DJ they recommended and he was good and accepted our requests and put up with one of our very lovable but persistent guests with good grace! The night ended at 1am with people singing the praises of our choice but it would have been nothing without the amazing job of Kasia and the rest of the staff that really helped to make our day as special as it was! And I feel I need to add that a lot of our family/friends can be very demanding so its even more of an achievement!!!!!! They've redone it and it is lovely. Great Sunday night Pub Quiz (hence the nacho issue) as the place gets ram packed. You have to get there before 7 to get a seat for the 8 pm quiz, but it is fun and competitive. Dogs are allowed (which has become a priority for me) They tend to close earlier than most places, but comfy seats, decent wine and food and nice outdoor area. read more

Ate here recently and was very impressed. The menu offers a good choice of food with good value for money, especially if you take advantage of the set menu. Atmosphere is very friendly and it's a nice place to go for a meal, a drink or to meet friends. Service was great, staff were laid back but very good at their jobs, very friendly and helpful. Pretty, pretty exterior. Friendly staff. OK food. As this pub is just around the corner from my place it has become a bit of a favourite. The original stained glass windows and green tiling are complemented by the plain wooden flooring and mis-matched wooden tables and chairs etc. Lovely old bar and they have guest ales that rotate regularly. A small terrace at the front is a great place to sit in summer, shielded from Royal College Street by a hedge and wind-breaking glass panels. They also let me come in with the little jack russell I was looking after and brought him a bowl of water - serious extra points. I've eaten here a few times and can't really remember what I had - not a great sign. I'm sure I had bangers and mash once which was fine, they did bring more gravy to satisfy my fetish, so extra points there too. When I ate upstairs in the posher Restaurant another time, I didn't feel the food was that good for the price. Agree with other reviewers, fine if you're choosing a lunch specials menu or something. verdict: Great for a pint, some sun, and to lose the crowds of the high street on a weekend. I love this place! Lots of room, outdoor space, the Fleet River visible through the street grate outside, and white beer make this my 'out of the way' pub favourite. For two pints the cost is +£7, which makes it on the more expensive side of moderate but I enjoy taking two buses to get to Camden and part of the fun of a day out in Camden is stopping in at the Prince Albert. read more

Went last Sunday and very disappointed. I rave about this place to my friends and family about how friendly this pub is and how family friendly it is. We took some friends and their child and the staff were so rude basically kept telling us off and would give us dirty looks. We didn't end up eating and had to say something to the guy - the manager disappeared when faced with confrontation. I really like this place. Victorian, green-tiled pub tucked away from the hurly-burly of the high street in Camden, with a pretty, secluded garden to the side. They do a set menu for £9.00 (two courses) or £10.50 (three) and an a la carte that had some really excellently prepared dishes on. Service was friendly and unobtrusive. They also seem to run regular events, next one being a 'Fish Month' in September that sounds like it might be really quite interesting, so I'll be back for that. A group of around 10 of us went along for a Sunday evening and rang up before to ensure there would be food available (they said there was). We then arrived to be told there would be no food until 8pm and then only Nachos. 8pm came and we discovered there was more than just nachos (great!). We did however order nachos and found that some of the ingredients were missing from the nachos. When asking the staff about this, the staff were rather aggressive and it felt like they were getting cross with us for challenging this. This left a rather sour taste on the whole experience and would also mean I would not recommend going back. read more
