So-so. It's a pub. Quite a normal pub actually, with a bar, chairs, tables and a fruit machine.
Allow me to elaborate.
To enter, you must first go through two sets of double doors which can't be fully opened at the same time as they collide in to each other. After a calculated entry you can see the whole pub - it's all one floor, one large room (apart from the toilets, they're upstairs). Bar on the right, chairs and tables around the rest of the room leaving a few spaces of open floor. There's a raised section at the back but it only has more tables on it (and chairs).
Not 'traditional' but quite a modern decorative style without the place looking too classy.
The "best" bit of the pub is the food and wine. They offer two meals for £9 all day Monday to Friday on ten or so meals and another, more extensive menu for everything else. The food is hardly outstanding but at least it's not that expensive. The wine list has some good wines on it and a greater choice of plonk than most pubs.
The bar staff are helpful and friendly and the locals are a mixed bunch - some loud and slightly irritating but most are just normal pairings/small groups with the occasional regular propping up the bar.
Did I mention the fruit machine?
So, on the whole, a reasonably normal pub. read more
