My friends and I had a great time here, and every time we visit. I love IPAs and stouts, but I love beer with sweet flavors too. Their drinks are delicious and the presentation is very thoughtful. The decor is striking and definitely picturesque. The owner made us feel welcomed and even made sure we were all able to find seating since it was such a busy night. I'm not sure where people are getting that she's not welcoming. I don't know her personally, but I always feel welcomed. We will definitely keep going! read more

The coolest, most aesthetic/ instagram-able brewery I know! This is a place you want to go hangout with all your girlfriends, just chill and take all the selfies you want without being judged by the men in your life. Haha! No, but seriously! Such a laid back and fun atmosphere. Cool music and vibes. The staff is super friendly. It is quite small so it can get packed easily. A few things I have to say about this place, I've given this place quite a few tries, if you're into sweet beers or drinks like I am this is definitely your spot, I've came for Christmas last year, and it was gorgeous the way the set it up, but my issue is that anytime I come here there's always small children in the way or taking up space in the photo ops so we never get cute pictures, for their Barbie set up there was small children in the ball pit the entire time till closing which was super annoying. Especially because there was other people who wanted pictures also and the children seemed to be related to the owners so you would think they would have them not taking up so much space so others can get a turn too. When I came during Christmas the woman who owns the shop never looks happy to be here or serve us which is fine we all have bad days. But every single time I go? Very weird . She preaches woman empowerment and seems so happy online but just know this is all just for online presence. She's not like that in person. And this is from many of the times I have gone, she doesn't smile and makes it seem like it's a bother to talk our order each time? If you don't like customer service (as I don't either that's why I don't work in it) I'm not sure why she decided to be the face of the company. But, she might just be having a bad time every time we coincidentally be coming in. Last thing, their hours are SOOOOO UNPREDICTABLE. For Christmas they closed one hour early which they did not state anywhere even on their instagram, and this is not the first time this has happened when they open later than their posted hours or close early than their posted hours, at least let us know when we walk in or post it on instagram. I drive about an hour away to come visit my mom in Salina's and I like taking her to downtown Salina's for drinks & food sometimes and the times I have come this has ALWAYS been an issue. Came to this place for the first time last night. The place was decorated very nicely for Christmas and staff were friendly. That is why two stars. It is very small and doesn't take a lot of people to get crowded. Was with several people and we all got different drinks. Was not a fan of any of them and no one in the group was really excited with them. Most of us didn't like them at all. Needless to say it was a one and done for us there. Hope they start brewing just some good ipa's and pilsners. Having several good breweries downtown would be nice but until then will be pour house and Alvarado. read more

For starters, people have been raving about Brew-N-Krew for a while so for it to finally open is awesome! We stopped by Sunday around 1pm to try a couple beers as we have been hearing a lot of good things about it! I'm personally a big fan of sours so I started with Simon Limon and my partner got El Padrino. The descriptions of the drinks are as detailed as it can be considering we could taste all the different notes. So so good! For the second drink I decided to stick to Simon Limon and my partner got Karnaval, which I regret not getting it myself because it was BOMBBBB! Such a refreshing beer to have!! Overall, loved the beer and the cool names and descriptions as it pays tributes to all those who have motivated/inspired the drinks. As for the atmosphere, LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! The color and decorations are a pop with the groovy music! Its such a fun sight to! My partner described it as the perfect spot to be day drinking on a Sunday. This place is awesome! You must visit this place when visiting Downtown SALINAS! It's thee new place to visit! The atmosphere is perfect! Grand opening in March 17th was amazing! It was packed and busy, but the service was great and quick! I got my beer in less than 5 mins. The wait to go in was well worth it! The owners were prompt in asking people walking in what they were looking for! They were highly prepared, and if they weren't, kudos to them because they handled their grand opening like pros! I was blown away when I saw Senator Caballero walk in! Wow! What a great highlight for the brewery! I went back today, and by far one of the best places to visit in downtown! Check out the place! You must try: Lokura, El Padrino, Ponte Las Piñas, La Chica Fresa! Actually try them all! Love the uniqueness of their beer titles! Love that they make dope beer with cultura! You'll love the decor! It is so unique in style! It's welcoming, positive, pleasant, and enchanting! The owners are young and home grown in the East Side pf Salinas! They are both amicable! Came in as a friend had recommended the place so we decided for a night out with family. Their door guy was quick to ask for ID's and tell us a bit about the bar. Once in we approached the bar only to be ignored by both the short guy behind the bar and the lady tender. We were ready to leave but my brother in law insisted we try it as people seemed to be enjoying something other than the killer Barbie decor. Honestly out of the four drinks ordered only one of them was good and it was a beer cocktail. I don't know that I'd recommend it based on the one drink or the cool decorations. I visited recently and held off posting this until I saw a post on IG (a long written letter to the public) where I felt the owner was not taking accountability for how things are going and I felt (along with others who brought this to my attention) that the blame was being put on the customers for not "making it out" to support. I grew up in a family run business and we would never think of placing blame outward. This was a very nice surprise as a new place for us to visit when we come back home to salinas. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. They welcome the whole family even children. The decor is pop up theme right now and even the bathrooms are decorated uniquely. The restroom was clean, provided a changing table and my favorite hemp lotion even! The drinks are fun and super tasty. We loved the chika freza. The pricing and info on the pours for the pop ups are stated on the menu and are fixed pricing. The concept of gentrification revolves around the concept that a small group of usually white upper middle class folk outprice the locals of a usually underappreciated and underdeserved area. Now, it's not always white people who do this; the concept of *gentefication* specifically revolves around a phenomenon of latino (or in this case, latina) upper middle class yuppies doing the same thing. Let me make something clear; i'm not trying to dampen the accomplishments of a presumably hard working woman, especially one in the same minority group as I; but I am brutally honest, I'm not paying 14 dollars for a pseudo-beer that is made by someone who quote "does not like beer besides an ice cold stella" according to the Monterey Weekly, especially in a place that is decorated like the Weenie Hut Jr from Spongebob. But, we will be fair. There is a "beer" here that tastes good, a pomegranate based one, but I like anything with that flavor. The other beers range from tasting acridly sweet to over-malted, and again, FOURTEEN DOLLARS, to sit in aesthetically overdesigned uncomfortable chairs. Also, kids are allowed inside. I have my opinion on this (absolutely not, no thanks, I want to escape), but you, the reader, should decide what that means to you. If you want a great bar owned by latine people, XL next door. One with a brewmaster who is a woman, Peter Bs. (Somehow, a fancy hotel has more affordable and better beer than this place that tries and fails to evoke a "woke" veneer.) As they say in San Francisco, where this place seems to be ripped from, "do better", it's just not for me. Quick edit response to the owner; any race can be a yuppie, even if they've come here first generation, suffering isn't a factor. My dad is a refugee from a latin american country, I could become a yuppie myself. I included tip in that price because I always tip the bartenders. I do appreciate her being nice about the review, but essentially this is just a case of the place not being my style. First time here and we will be back! Marlenne Garcia, owner of Brew N Kale, was great she even took some minutes to tell us the story of her new business. She and her boyfriend loved to visit breweries and would often spend hundreds of dollars every time they visited so they decided to start brewing their own beer in their garage. Marlenne ordered a brew kit from Amazon and that's how it all started now they are proud owners of Brew N Kale! We were eating breakfast at Portobello's, and noticed this new place right across the street. We decided to pop in and check it out. The place is cute-- definitely has a hip vibe with some "girlie" decor. We decided to try a beer fight for $20.00. I'm a mostly traditional Pilsner beer kinda gal, while my husband prefers IPAs. The variety of beer was fun to try, though the one I honed in on was the La Buena. My husband liked all of the beers, except for the Mono Kolorado-- it had a sightly bitter aftertaste. The vibe of this place is definitely "trendy" and I can see this attracting a younger more hip crowd (we're old folks, LOL). We chatted with the fellow who brews the beer, who was super friendly. We asked about how they got started etc. They've invested a lot of money into their brewing equipment and decor-- and I truly hope this place does really well. Their hours don't seem to be updated. My partner and I drove from out of town to experience this place for my birthday as their theme hits close to home and feels special. Unfortunately when we arrived at the time their Apples maps said was open the spot was closed. We waited a few hours as we noticed their social media account / yelp had different hours posted. The place is beautiful. The music is great. The atmosphere is great. Friendly vibes. The staff is super friendly. HOWEVER, as a very young brewery they have a long way to go in mastering their craft. Their beers have interesting ingredients inspired by Mexican culture. Somehow, they all taste watered down. I would rate their best beer maybe 7/10. I actually feel like they put too much emphasis on the atmosphere when they should be focusing on improving their beer. My friends who are non beer drinkers do like the beer, though. I went to the ugly Xmas sweater event and immediately had a bad experience. They are promoting ponche drinks and hot chocolate all over their social media. This is the reason why I went. I go ahead and order a ponche and the owner with an attitude says that on that night they were not serving ponche drinks when clearly its all over there social media instagram to be specific. Then my friend orders a beer and asks if they can pour it in a glass she saw on instagram that they were also promoting and she said no because that glass is only for margaritas? LOVE 100/10 ! This is a great welcoming environment. I have been here on multiple occasions and with different friends who all LOVED the environment! I am glad they have a kids menu this is a great way to normalize having a drink when it's been a rough day and still trying to be mom at the same time (moms know the stress) of wanting to go out for a drink and feeling weird about being judged. They have injected DT with some Hispanic flavor that has been missing from a town that highly Hispanic.
