This place has constantly been a good place to eat. I've never been disappointed. One of the only places I trust to explore the menu.

I have to describe The Brew House with a term that Tracy Jones coined years ago, "It is what it is". And what it is would be a dive bar with great food and freindly service. The food is what you expect from a dive, and that's what you get. read more

I was really happy to see that the Brew House is still going strong! When I left Cincy in '96 this was my "Cheers", and every where I've lived since I look for that same community atmosphere to no avail. I miss Jack's salmon club and Italian sausage hoagies, and the outrageously friendly staff. I miss dancing on the bar during Big Band night and doing body shots with hottie bartenders. I miss the comforting oddity that the Brew House is to those in the know, and I miss being able to stumble home after a good night of boozing. Staff night at the Brew House was a short visit for me. At first it seemed like the place was closed on the Thursday we met there after work. It was actually open but the entrance is on the side of the building. The food selection looked pretty good and prices were reasonable but we were just there to have a few drinks. In the past they've offered a free juke box night on Thursdays but I'm not sure if that is still true or if our manager was able to convince the bartender to make an exception for us. The bar is cozy, the bartender friendly and the beer cold. The best part of my visit was realizing the good selection on the juke box. Unfortunately the music was up to loud for me to really enjoy the conversations around me so I didn't stay long. read more

Beer/service review. First timer patron and if you're looking for solid draft options, Brew House has you covered. They don't carry a huge volume on tap but they've got good stuff plus good bottle/can selection. That said service is ehhh. Tuesday night, not that busy and not very attentive bar tender. Place is kinda hipster neighborhood village dive which is cool, but it's so hipster they left the lipstick on my beer glass. Not feelin it. The last time I went here was probably 25 years ago when it was just a dirty dive bar that college kids went to. I tried it again recently because I heard that they had a great menu now. I read a review on a Cincinnati blog and decided to go for dinner and a beer. It looks like they bought the building next door and expanded into it, the restaurant now looks like a crappy diner instead of a cool dive bar, it couldn't have less atmosphere if it tried. The server seemed like we were inconveniencing her and taking away from her time talking to the bartender, short one word answers and zero friendliness. After one beer and our food, she dropped the check off and said thanks and didn't even ask if we wanted another beer. The food is below mediocre. We asked for our burgers medium, they were well done and was horrible (and small for $9), the meat was grey and tasteless, we also got fried pickles and everything obviously came straight out of the freezer and into the microwave. Would not waste my money, for a good burger go to Zips, or City View, or Mad Mikes in Newport. Heck, even 5 Guys is better food, not to mention servers that care and a better atmosphere. Food was really good. I got the chicken and waffles and my husband got the meatloaf. I immediately had to try his mashed potatoes. For the price it can't be beat. Great beer selection but hard to know what they have in bottles and drafts. Try the beer battered bacon! read more

Brew House is very much a traditional bar with good food. A neighborhood oasis that's welcoming even if you're not from the neighborhood. Where else can you get "A pound of fried stuff", Batter Fried Bacon , and a scrumptious Salmon Burger. Worth seeking out no matter what neighborhood you hale from. read more

This is one of my favorite places to go. I go with friends, alone with a book...the atmosphere is comfortable and much like a classic diner. The burgers are quite good and they are accommodating to any requests you make to the order. The draft selections are also nice and they often have lovely live music on Tuesday nights. If you haven't been and live in the area, I'd recommend it. Not fancy, but good food and a pleasant time. read more

Frankly I don't know how they stay in business. Cheap beer maybe. Tuesday night music--maybe. Service, no. Food, not so much. We live in the neighborhood and don't see much action here. I complained about the soup once and got pretty much a 'it's okay, you're wrong' response. There are just too many places in the area that we prefer (try Gomez for example). read more

One of the staples of Walnut Hills is the Brewhouse, and for good reason. Lunch time at the Brewhouse is always hopping. Folks that work in the area and neighborhood folks all pack the place for their daily specials. Once you enter from the outside world, it may take your eyes a few minutes to adjust to the muted tones of the classic decor, but come in and stay for the food, indeed. They have an extensive menu of sandwiches, burgers and old school entrees such as open faced roast beef with mashed potatoes. My favorite is the Park Avenue Swiss Burger, named after the cross-street right in front. It's a decent sized burger with mushrooms, carmelized onions and swiss cheese which is served with chips and pickles. They usually post their lunch specials on the website each morning, along with the soup and dessert of the day, as well. Everything here is reasonably priced and always filling. There's a back room with a large-screen tv and one of the more eclectic jukeboxes in town, as well. And yes, as the name implies, there's a divey bar with some of the cheapest beer specials I've seen outside of the west side. Recently the long-time owners of the Brewhouse have sold the business but so far, it's still the well-kept gem it's always been. I was surprised to learn they now deliver, as well. I look forward to seeing more of their improvements on an already good thing. read more

So disappointed, this place went downhill. They raised the price of their burger by about $5. My burger was so overcooked it fell apart when I bit into it. It broke into about three pieces. I've never experienced that anywhere. The bartender standing right in front of me never asked me how it was. No one said bye or thanks as I walked out either. This used to be my favorite spot, I recommended it everyone. Not any more. It'll take a lot to get me back in there. read more

What's NOT to love about this place: great black bean burgers and sweet potato fries, a huge beer list, friendly owners and employees, interesting locals and an old-school, kinda kitschy atmosphere. Plus, it's half a block from my house so I can walk there in yoga pants and not feel out of place. We tend to come more in the fall/winter, but with ongoing renovations including a back patio, it should soon be within our wheelhouse all year long. read more

Our waitress was very attentive and checked in on us at the perfect times. We loved the diner feel/atmosphere. The prices were very reasonable. This is a weird place, but that is part of its charm. It felt like an episode of Twin Peaks the night I visited, but that's okay, because I happen to be a David Lynch fan. Clearly it's a guy with no friends and if he doesn't get service in a busy place right away it's bad and has no money because he wants a craft beer for bud light price. Decided to check this place out and I like it. It's a dive, but a nice dive. Apparently the bar has been around for some time but under new ownership now. They have done some updates, added some windows and bettered the outdoor seating area. I only had sides for food, so fried decliousness, but certainly not gourmet. They offer typical bar fare and burgers. It was Great Lakes Tap Takeover, which was cool. Beer was good, service was good. Overall, I like the place and I'd definitely come back. read more

Poor service. I visited the restaurant on Thursday April 18, 2019 around 3pm. As I parked my car I observed a man sitting outside smoking. I walked in the restaurant and the bartender ignored me for 10 minutes. Only about 5 people inside. The man from outside walked in and without saying a word she began to pour him a beer and took it to him without acknowledging me. I asked to be served and she looked at me rolling her eyes them slowly walked over to take my order. She was so disrespectful we exchanged a few unpleasant words then I left. Very poor service. My dad used to bring me here years ago and we would get the Big Jack burger and my mom would always get a fish sandwich, Big Jack was way to much food for her. Ha! Alright guys, it's not 5 star suit and tie dining . It IS a great, eclectic local watering hole with solid food , a more than ok whiskey selection and decent enough beer list . Stopped by to grab lunch in between soccer matches. Did not know what to expect. Small bar feel with expected pub food. We were blown away at the food but more importantly the people in there as well as Tina the waitress/bartender. I had the cheeseburger, my wife had the black and blue while my one daughter had the fish and chips and the other had the chicken fingers. Everything was very tasty especially the beer battered bacon we ordered as an appetizer. Heart attack waiting to happen per our awesome server. Based on how good they were I say bring it on. We even got to to know Tom, one of the local regulars. Definitely a must try for anyone who is not local and does not already know how great this place is. We will be back each year and any other time we are back in Cincinnati. Only thing missing is one single TV. :) read more

This has to be one of the greatest "new" bars. Since the new owners have taken over the bar is now hospitable and actually a nice place to go and hang out for some great food and good drinks. The beer battered bacon is mana from heaven! And the fish tacos are amazing. The burgers are incredible and obviously fresh and hand made and quite reasonably priced. They are currently making renovations to make it even more inviting. Def a 5 star place. read more
