Found this little gem on our way home from an adventure in the foothills. We weren't expecting such amazing service from this little locally owned place. We weren't expecting such immediately greeted with a "welcome" and a smile. Cute little bar/restaurant. They have decorated for Halloween with cobwebs & signs...love it! And the burgers were WAY better than I had hoped for! Juicy, giant, flavorful, and creative is how I would describe them. I was so full by the time we were done! In town to visit family. They asked if we wanted to go out and get some burgers. This is a very small town so I didn't know what to expect. It's a fairly big restaurant/bar. It had a nice mix of burgers and sides. Also tater tots and sweet potato fries are available. I got a bbq bacon cheeseburger. The fries are wedge cut fries,mine were garlic fries. The burger was really juicy, even though it was fully cooked. Not dry at all. There's a nice patio to eat outside,but I wanted some air conditioning as it was kinda hot. A friend who lives in town suggested this place and I was game. The outdoor seating area was really nice with a relaxing fountain in the middle. The patio area was quite large with plenty of tables. Inside was nice too but the weather was too nice to be inside. Service was great, very attentive and checked on us often. She also made some great suggestions because we are both indecisive. The beer tap selection was an added bonus, they have something for everyone. We started off with the roasted brussel sprouts, the serving size was HUGE, I could have made this the entire meal! They were really yummy and perfectly cooked. My friend had the bbq tri tip sandwhich with pesto fries and he enjoyed his meal. I loved the pesto friends btw... and will probably be ordering them next time. I ordered the Island Burger and it was really good, huge but good. Sorry not a fan. I feel as though we go because we have nothing else. Pricey too. Almost 100 bucks for two people and I left half my food. Just wasn't good. This place has some of the best burgers!! No frozen premade patties, their patties are handmade and cooked to juicy perfection. My personal favorite is the island burger because of the mix of savory & sweet, but you really can't go wrong with any. I have had their grilled chicken pesto sandwich if you want a non beef option, also delicious. Their chicken tenders also appear to be hand made versus what most restaurants serve (frozen heated up tenders). Regular fries are great, sweet potato fries are pretty lack luster. If you're coming from Hogan and have a boat, the road they are on typically has easy parking for truck & trailer. read more

Had a lovely lunch here with a friend today. We had tried coming once before on a Wednesday I think and they were closed so we wanted to try again and I'm glad we did. They have indoor and outdoor seating and I love any place that is dog friendly! I saw lots of pups on the patio but it was just too warm today for us to sit outside. We ordered burgers and fries but they do have other things on offer like fish and chips and salads. The menu is not huge but they have a good variety. I really enjoyed my food. It was cooked to my specifications and tasted very good. My friend enjoyed her food as well. The service was excellent. Our waitress was friendly and made sure to check on us for refills. First, they have good beer on tap. Appreciate that. Second, the servers are always friendly and attentive. We had fish and chips last time we visited and were pleasantly surprised at how good they were. That is where they get the two stars. Now for the bad news: Today we showed up for a brew and late lunch. No tomatoes because apparently, they were 4x the usual price because of the big freeze. Ok. So this is mainly a burger, sandwich and beer place. A burger or sandwich without tomatoes is just a big fat NO for us. Would have much preferred an option to pay extra for tomatoes rather than just a flat out "sorry, no tomatoes for you our valued customer!" Having owned multiple businesses over the years and having a good understanding of the restaurant business, this is a huge mistake. So I proceeded to order the mushroom swiss burger (no tomatoes generally needed for that). Guess what? They used processed and I mean PROCESSED, disgusting, fake Swiss cheese. Usually, I know better and ask the servers if it is real or processed cheese. I forgot to ask because I was so bent that everything I wanted on the menu involved tomato. Like you know, a BLT or turkey club or even a regular freakin' burger. But either owner or manager chose to cheap out rather than keep their menu up to speed. I really don't like poverty minded businesses. The ONLY reason they have two stars is because the beer is good, the service is good and some of their food in the past has been pretty good. But cheaping out because of produce prices is a death nell for a burger/sandwich joint. Serving processed cheese on a burger is a big fat NO for me unless specifically noted on the menu that it is processed American or Swiss cheese and that is one's preference. I am not a fan of plastic, fake cheese. Makes one wonder how else they may be cutting corners. Would much rather pay higher prices than see a restaurant cheap out on or eliminate ingredients. There are several ways that tomato thing could have been handled rather than just "sorry, no tomatoes due to higher prices". If it were my restaurant, I would rather pay the higher price and just suck it up temporarily, rather than lose good customers. This customer is gone. We will see how long they last with their willingness to eliminate and/or cheap out on ingredients. read more

Stopped at this place on the way back from a countryside excursion. Glad we stopped here. They had multiple TVs to watch sports, the service was fast and helpful, they didn't mind that we had kids, and we had no wait to sit down. Burgers were fantastic! I had the jalapeno western burger and it was done right. Toppings and cheese slightly oozing down the side and the bun was toasted and soft. So my brother in law and I went to the stanislaus national forest to get our Christmas trees. We ended the night at this burger place along the way home. The deep fried mac and cheese bites were soo good and the burger was nice! It's definitely cooked very well done and they added one of the most spicest jalapeño that I've had! They also have such a variation of different types of fries to order from which makes you want to come back. The garlic fries were OK but the pesto fries were better! The restaurant itself is cozy and clean, with a pretty big patio, and the staff there is kind and attentive. I managed to get in and out with the goods within ~10 mins during dinnertime. I got a Bleu burger with a side salad to go, with a side of Bleu cheese dressing. They must be either very generous or clued into my love of moldy cheese, because they laid it on *thick* with the cheese, which I loved. The rest was also delicious; the patty was flavorful and charred but still pink inside, and it was all on a sweet toasted bun. "Brewg's" is our favorite go to when visiting our daughter and son in law who live in Valley Springs. This hot spot is not only good because it's one of the few restaurants in Valley Springs, it's just amazing. Their burgers, sammies, salads and fish and chips are beyond great. We saw this place on a drive up there to take some Xmas pics. We were all pretty hungry. We ordered one mushroom burger with sweet potato fries, and one blue burger with the pesto fries. Both cook to perfection and juicy! To drink a Pliney and a cinnamon roll cider! Very good. The place is small but seems to work well for the staff that was there. There is not one negative thing to be said about this place! We had a group of about 30 go there for lunch yesterday. I let them know a few days before that we would be there and was assured we'd be taken care of. And we were! Even with a group our size, the service was amazing and every single person loved what they ordered. We were on the patio, which is nicely decorated for the holidays. They turned on the patio heaters for us without us having to ask, and it was just enough to take the chill off. The TVs were showing football, which was an added bonus.
