There are no words to describe The Brew Gentlemen. OK, maybe one: AWESOME! The craft brews they create are absolutely delicious. I have not had a beer that I did not enjoy from the Gents. Chai Spiced? Amazing. IPA? Yes please. Stouts. Hefes, or lagers? Yes, yes, and yes. When I first walked in. I saw a Golden Retriever, historic restoration, an amazing beer list, and orange ties. That pretty much sums up The Brew Gentlemen. Bring your furry friend, grab a pint, and enjoy one of their food truck round ups, yoga, or other events hosted at the venue. I love that they are part of the restoration of Braddock. They support their community and even named a beer General Braddock's IPA (of course it's delicious). I can't wait to go back here! I'm sad I only had time to try one beer while I was there this past weekend. I am normally not a chai fan but I thoroughly enjoyed the White Sky, a chai spiced wheat. I also enjoyed a Permanent Yard Sale (session ale) at Independent Brewery Co. in Squirrel Hill and it was DELISH. The aesthetic was so rustic and charming; I loved the combo of wood and metal. it wasn't overly crowded while I was there, the table tops fluctuated throughout the night but the bar was steady with folks coming in to grab a growler. I really liked how there were 3-4 separate areas: the bar, the tables, a (board) game room and a lounge room with a large tv. Only one restroom but it was just as charming and thoughtfully decorated as the rest of the establishment. read more

In town with family. I was raised in Braddock a long time ago and was excited to try this brewery since there hasn't been anything like this ever. The atmosphere is welcoming and the bartenders were gracious. We tried the Cider & the General Braddock. Easily one of my favorite beers from any brewery I've been to. There was a Food truck out front and I think they do that regularly. We only stayed for an hour but wish we had more time as It was relaxed and enjoyable. Don't forget to try the pen! read more

Disclaimer: My trip was well over a year ago. An odd but intriguing experience would best describe my trip to this brewery. The ability to try the different beers was a plus. I enjoyed quite a few on tap. The staff was accommodating however the ambiance lacked the normal protocol of a bar. There were no tv's nor music. You could hear a pin drop during Happy Hour. My hour of silence drinking was more reflective in silence than light hearted and fun amongst the commotion. Not necessarily a bad thing but certainly a different experience. Lovely place to grab a beer and relax in an informal atmosphere. Lots of IPAs on draft and plenty of seating. There is no food, but there is a food truck parked outside so I would recommend going on a day where the food truck is interesting if you want something to eat as well. This place was great. The atmosphere is very cool with brick interior, pipes, pallet walls- industrial feel. The menu of beers is listed on a computer monitor. I decided to taste the wheat (chai), CPA (citrus ale- I would have never tried this but she suggested it and it turned out to be my favorite), and the Deep Breakfast (coffee stout). Every single beer I tried was awesome. This was possibly some of the best beer from a brewery I have had in a long time. The coffee stout was the best coffee stout I have had. It wasn't thick and syrup-ie like many others or overpowered. My husband normally does not like coffee stouts and after the $2 taste, he ordered a pint of it. In the place, there are a bunch of tables to sit at, a bar area to sit at, and lots of board games to pick from and play. Although I never felt like the place was packed or noisy, there was a continuous line of people at the register area purchasing beer the entire time we were in there and it was only noon which says this place must be doing something right.There's also a variety of take home beer options too such as the growler and then a smaller growler for a cheaper price. Top 3 brewery in Pittsburgh, if not number 1! If you are an IPA fan this is the brewery for you. There's typically at least 3 IPA or Hop forward beers on the menu to try and taps rotate frequently. If you are there in the winter try to the Mexican Coffee Stout, it's a surprise but very tasty. There's a large tv screen in the other room for sports, and board games a plenty if you just want to hang out. The food options vary by day but there's always a good food truck options- my favorite is Gyros N-At but also a big fan of Blue Sparrow. read more

This place is so beautiful! I'm beyond impressed! We went on a Food Truck Round up night here and the place was packed! We waited a while to get a beer but it was well worth the wait. Even tho it was packed the staff were patient and explained all the beers to us and helped us choose the perfect one. The price was very reasonable for a micro brew as well, $6.50 for the one I bought. The area was so simple and so well designed and decorated. The rough walls and large antique wood doors really pulled it all together. (I wonder if you could rent it for a wedding reception or something? Oh wedding bells!!) Even with all the people, it was quiet and I could have a conversation with my friends without having to yell. (or wish I had more friends who knew sign language.) They have a dog just running around that was so sweet and so cute and I just loved him! (Side note*: I love all dogs so it could have been the meanest little shit dog and i'd be like, "look at his growl, isn't that cute!" But really this one was nice and I kissed him lol) The bathroom was large and painted a dark green color with some flowers in the corner. It was cute and clean! I had to wait a while to get into the bathroom, but there may have been another one, I'm not 100% sure. I am dying to go back when there isn't a Food Truck night in the hopes it will be less crowded and we could take in more of the atmosphere. read more

Who knew Braddock had such a quaint and rustic little watering hole like The Brew Gentlemen?! I've had the fortune of visiting twice. Once, after the Steel City Grammers instameet and then again today on an impromptu Pittsburgh brewery tour with friends. The atmosphere is fantastic with tables in the sunlit front rooms facing the street and then in the darker back room close to the bar. The brews are imaginative and robust ranging from farmhouse to a chai spiced beer to seasonal meads. Today they had a garden beer that had a refreshing hint of cucumber (highly recommended) as well as a raspberry mead that I sampled and really enjoyed. They also host a variety of events including a beer, brunch and yoga that I would like to attend in the future. Great spot, make sure to check it out if you're ever in Braddock! read more

My new obsession! Right away when I walked into this place I loved the decor and the atmosphere. They have created a great place to relax, chat with friends and enjoy a delicious beverage! My husband and I are "surviving" the winter by checking out all the local breweries. (Good way to warm up) We came to Brew Gentlemen as a suggestion from a friend. I think it is my favorite brewery in Pitt! We went on a Saturday afternoon and there were other patrons, but it wasnt packed. They have a very nice layout with bar area and tables as well. The staff was very friendly and answered all my Q's about flavors and ingredients. The beers were excellent! We shared a round of tasters and I liked them all! I really love Belgium's and they have a few that are really really great. The Weizenbock was my fav. Glad I just got a sample because it is 9.5% and really easy to drink. I've been coming here for quite a while now but since I've been adding reviews of restaurants I've recently dined at, I decided that it was time to give this place a proper review. Brew Gentlemen is my favorite brewery in Pittsburgh, and they are making some of the best IPAs period. I've been fortunate enough to have visited and tried a lot of offerings from places all over the country, but what Brew Gentlemen is doing in Braddock is as good as or better than any of them, especially when it comes to their IPAs. I would recommend their flagship beer, General Braddock's, to anyone, even those who aren't big on hoppy beers. There is a level of juiciness to Brew Gentlemen's hops that a lot of people haven't tasted in their past experiences with pale ales. If you aren't a fan of hops, thankfully their menus has something for everyone: lagers, pilsners, wheat ales, fruit beers, their menu is constantly changing, week by week and season by season. It's refreshing to see old favorites being available year round while new offerings are being tweaked and added constantly. The brewery itself has a very cool vibe, simultaneously industrial and modern, with exposed brick and hanging lights fixtures. The bar room itself is cozy and warm, while the other rooms serve more for larger parties and get togethers. I want to note that Brew Gentlemen does not have a kitchen, but they have food trucks parked outside of the entrance that rotate depending on what day of the week it is. In all, Brew Gentlemen's beers and experience are highly recommended for anyone who enjoys drinking good beer at a fun place. The employees and people who run this place are extremely pleasant and knowledgeable, the rotating food trucks always offer something good, and the beer is the best in Pittsburgh. read more

There are a few flagship beers but then there's always something unique or unusual to try. The atmosphere is casual, relaxed yet attention to detail. I love this place! I always assumed that their White Sky would be my go-to beer but I've been pleasantly surprised by their other beers that they have on tap. Good beer and a cool, casual and relaxed atmosphere...I'm sold on Brew Gentleman! My boyfriend and I came for dinner and drinks on a Friday night. Walking in, we immediately were greeted with delicious smells from the food truck outside, which was good news, because I was hungry! As we got inside we walked past a room of large tables into a smaller room with hightops and a small bar with walk up service. There were plenty of beers to choose from and you could get growlers, glasses or samplers. The bartenders were really knowledgeable about the beers and helped me choose a few to try. Past this room was another room overlooking the actual brewery with a couch, some standing room, and a large shelf of games! We had such a fun night just sitting, talking, eating and playing trivial pursuit and backgammon. There was no pressure to leave so that they could flip tables, it was a place perfect for just hanging out with friends for as long as you wanted. I would love to come back for a relaxing night of beer and games sometime soon! read more

Only 6-12oz glasses of beer...? Brew Gentlemen has always made great beer. The atmosphere is pretty chill and laidback. The bartenders can be snobby and only talk about the beer if pressed. There's usually only one or two bartenders and the service can be terribly slow when they're busy. Worth the trek from Pittsburgh (was about a 30 min drive for us through some suburb roads from Shadyside) for some world class beer. We honestly weren't going to come up despite the high ratings on from BeerAdvocate, RateBeer and some other very reliable sources. "It's too far"... "There are thousands of craft brew joints in Pittsburgh, why drive the 30 minutes?" Well - even if you were driving from out-of-state or out-of-country (like us), it's worth the trek to Brew Gentlemen. Their IPAs are some of the tastiest I've had in long time and their Chai spice wit was stellar - it sounds weird, but it worked. Out back is a rotating food truck, so you can buy your food and eat inside (be sure to arrive before the food truck packs up for the night). And the place is my idea of a perfect beer joint -- jovial, but not crowded and the perfect ambient noise for conversation. To give you an idea of how good this place is, we struck up a conversation at the bar and when the other patrons realized we were from Toronto, they instantly named the my favourite brewery and pub in the city. Kudos, Brew Gentlemen. I only wish I found this place earlier in our trip so I can hit them up multiple times. read more

The hubs and I were at a restaurant in down town Pittsburgh a while back when I had a White Sky Chai, which I found to be so alluring that I looked up who made it, which lead us to this place. And I'm so glad, because Brew Gentlemen is easily in my top 10 fave establishments in PGH. For anybody who's concerned about the location- don't be. Why shouldn't there be cool places in Braddock? I've never had a problem there, and have never felt unsafe. I love the food trucks, I love that people bring their adorable dogs, the beer is delicious, the ambience is great, the parking is easy. This is a great new brewery in the Pittsburgh area. It's in Braddock where there's not many other places worth visiting, but it seems they are trying to revitalize the area which is great. I really love the look of this place, which seems to be a nice blend of old architectural features and modern design. All the staff are very friendly and love to talk about their beer. They seem to take a pretty creative approach compared to some other breweries, making really interesting things like chicken flavored beer and mango chipotle double ipa, but some of the really interesting ones go fast! They provide pints, tastes, growlers and bottles for sale and they will be adding food options soon. They said that sometimes there are food trucks setup outside. I did find it a little odd though that not one woman seemed to be employed there, though I guess it is called the "Brew Gentlemen" for a reason. read more

There's nothing bad you can say about the Brew Gentlemen! These guys started something extraordinary for Braddock and it really is exciting. I followed them on FB and IG while they were renovating and preparing to open, and there's a lot of love there. The beers are great, definitely something for everyone on their menu. The space is just absolutely beautiful plus it's in an easy to get to location and there's tons of parking. They often have food trucks parked outside to feed your inevitable hunger (Blowfish BBQ yesss!). The Food Truck Round Up nights are great too; I will admit they are getting a little too crazy busy for my liking, but I think it's awesome for the business anyway. This place is so awesome!! I was here to help send off a friend to Colorado and was so surprised that this place existed in Braddock. This place was very unassuming from the outside. The inside is so nice and big. It's also a dog friendly location so you can bring your mutt while you sip on some of their tasty beers. This place is classy. It is a little pricey but you don't go here to get wasted. It's meant to enjoy properly brewed beer. Always a food truck outside. And not sure if you like animals. But there are two very well behaved dogs that come in here and there. Ones a German Shepard and the other a rottweiler. I believe both are therapy dogs. I happen to love seeing them around.
