Underrated gem! Really lovely spot. Good food, friendly bartenders/cooks, and a really nice space! Have been three times now and have not been disappointed with anything. Definitely check it out! Get the poke bowl and the spam musubi!

We stopped by right after noon on Sunday to check out their brunch. You walk inside and can sit anywhere and you order at the bar. There's a room on the right hand side walking in with the bar, some couch seating, some tables and some booths. There's another room on the left hand side with more tables. The staff was really nice and our food and drinks came out pretty quickly. The food itself was absolutely delicious. I regret only having room for four dishes! Everything was a good portion and tasty. I would definitely go out of my way to come back!!

    Fire grilled Toast!

Nice venue, menu with nice range of tasty options, and good beverage offering. I came for late brunch this visit. Table had the Deviled eggs, breakfast hash, toast, and Caesar salad. The marinated shredded pork in the hash was fantastic as was the fire grilled toast. The combination of all the items in the hash stood out; mixture of sweet and white potato, egg, onion, pork, oils. The balance of wasabi in deviled egg filing was good and the fried ramen gave a visual and textural contrast. Charred Broccolini ceasar salad also brought the textural contrasts with light panko crumble and again hearth charred broccolini; the ingredients were cut to size nicely for salad plate (sorry forgot to snap a photo of the salad). Greta selection of Brew Gentleman beers; I'll have to keep in mind the whiskey selection for future.

It's been several years since I've been to this renovated space (previous establishment Superior Motors) in downtown Braddock. The interior was just as inviting as before with big windows letting in the natural light. There is a film movie theatre in the building so both the off-street parking lot and the nearby street parking spots were completely full when we arrived during the Sunday brunch hours of 12-4 in June. You order at the bar, and your food is delivered by food runners to your table so it's kind of a pain to go back to the bar for refills or other requests. They even offered a fun specials menu with a theme matching the film playing! The dessert pierogis were the star of the show for me but I enjoyed my garden harsh with sweet potatoes first. There were a plethora of sweet dishes I wanted to try so I'm looking to return for brunch again in the near future.

Absolutely outstanding! Had been a fan of Brew Gentlemen Beer for years but only visited the Braddock public house for the first time last night. Firstly, absolutely beautiful building and interior. The large windows overlooking the industrial complex across the road was definitely a unique experience you don't find at your average brewpub/brewery. Great place to bring friends/family visiting Pittsburgh for this view alone. Secondly, the food was INCREDIBLE. My wife and I are both vegan so to find somewhere that has REALLY AWESOME vegan food AND great beer is a rarity. We had the Korean style mushroom sandwich and the poke bowl with tofu and both were outstanding. Can't wait to come back and try the other items that are vegan! Yes, amazingly enough there were several options. Service was quick and attentive, and staff were very friendly and helpful. HIGHLY recommend this place for vegans and beer enthusiasts!

I was a little skeptical about this place and I'm glad I went! The space is really nice but the area it's in isn't the best of neighborhoods. The food was great and reasonably priced. The brunch is worth going to. The service was good; you order at the bar and they bring your food to your table. The dessert pierogi is worth getting!

Came here for brunch and was impressed by the interesting menu. They seem to offer a lot of comfort foods with a new twist. The ambiance inside is very cool, really tall ceilings and lots of natural light (it's fun to look at the wall decorations and see bits of Pittsburgh history). To order drinks and food items, you have to go up to the bar and place your order. Maybe it's not this system of ordering at all hours, but it did get a bit tedious having each person in our large party walk up to the bar to order. They had an excellent Bloody Mary! And we love brew gentleman beer (which is on tap). We also tried the spam musubi, which is definitely worth ordering! Even though there are only three in the order, it's easy to split the large sushi pieces. Chicken katsu is really nicely fried and the biscuits are the perfect texture. The chorizo hash is good, wont be disappointed but nothing too exciting about it. Definitely looking forward to coming back for lunch or dinner next time!

Let me start off by saying what a beautiful space and such friendly staff! We came on opening day, so we expected it to have some hiccups. The food concept is fun and different, but it's just lacking in flavor. For the most part, the main dishes were just bland, but the fries were perfectly cooked and seasoned! I would give this a try again down the road, but definitely stop by for a delicious BG beer!

Went for their soft opening. It's a great atmosphere with an open kitchen concept. Drinks were made beautifully with PA spirits. Everyone enjoyed themselves. It's a Pittsburgh and Hawaiian/Japanese blend menu and there are some great food fusions. I recommend the Spam Musubi, the Ramen Deviled Eggs, and Pork Tonkatsu Sandwich.

Even before being an elected official, I would wander into Brew Gentlemen for the food trucks. I would only drink cider because I swore, "beer was gross." Me and the bestie would sit in the parking lot and kick up our feet catching up surrounded by so many people happy to see energy around us. My family drank Coors and Budlight and I didn't like any of those things. Eventually, while wandering into BG I would ask to taste different things and it turns out that it wasn't beer that I didn't like. It was just the beer that I had been trying. Nowadays I'm a stout girly, I love the milkshake beer (which is no relation to the dessert), dessert sours are a good change, and the cucumber ale just tastes like summer. I'm not a beer connoisseur but I love looking at where I started. Tonight sitting with my mom P-Nut Berry Reeves and my old cheer coach Patricia Kelley it was cool seeing how far BG has grown from a college project (as they started as college students) to a restaurant wowed me. After speaking with staff members from the community and they enjoy working there, I wasn't impressed as BG had been doing this all along. They're receptive to feedback. I remember strolling into the tap room during the holiday party one year and one of their employees gave me the runaround about using the bathroom even though I was dressed as an elf that solemnly swore that I would return with friends after the event to enjoy drinks. I brought that to management later on and they apologized and I wasn't shocked because that line of communication has always been there. BG is involved in the chili Cook-Off, one of the owners sits on the BCLA Board, they're always looking for ways to be involved from hiring from the community, allowing the local fitness instructor to host fitness classes in the brewery, or even hiring a teen from the community to water the plants. BG believes in community. The new space has a menu with most of the offerings under $20 and they will be open for lunch. BG isn't doing the minimum because they're always trying to find ways to exceed and outdo themselves and they deliver with a small but mighty team. I loved the flowers from the Braddock garden at Sol Patch Garden, the brightness they put behind the bar, and the Braddock memorabilia on the walls. The Asian cold noodle salad felt like traveling without leaving the table. I saw pickles on the menu and the pickle plate is a nice starter but at this point as long as it's pickled right, I'll enjoy any pickled veggie. And they were pickled right. The carrots were well seasoned and had a nice crunch thanks to the nuts in the Baba ghanoush. As far as the drinks went, I enjoyed my cold brew espresso martini as it was a refreshing take on the usual. If this was just the soft launch, I can't wait to see what they do with a full menu. Cheers to amazing adventures and new spaces and getting out of our comfort zones. BG promises to create more bridges with the community starting with opening the community oven back up and that's something we can all break bread around.

Brand new brew pub from the craft brewer of Brew Gentleman.  A modern brew pub in a multi-use historic building.  Serving up Hawaiian and Japanese influence dishes- snacks, salads, handhelds and main dishes!  And of course, Braddock brewed- Brew Gentleman beer.  Braddock is a historic steel town, and the owners really wanted to provide a meaningful experience for the Pittsburgh community.  The ambiance and décor are also amazing.  The staff is very friendly.  Went and drank General Braddock and tried a few snacks, dumplings & handhelds. Loved the Rueben Gyoza, Pork Tonkatsu Sandwich & Loco Moco Burger.  Everything was so good.  Very pleased with the quality.  Can't wait to go back someday soon!

Delightful experience for a first time visit, staff is super friendly and the service was great. Babylon and Philip took great care of us. General Braddock IPA is as good as any hazy IPA I've had. The food didn't disappoint. Creative menu with a good blend of traditional food with a modern slant.

Had my first visit here on a Friday evening this past August. We met a few of our friends here to…read moreenjoy a night out with some beer, food, and live music. I have previously heard of Truss and seen them around the community at different events, but was excited to finally try them at their storefront. Truss Brewing Company is located in Pleasant Hills, just off of Route 51. This building has been other businesses throughout the years before Truss took over. It is clearly marked and easy to locate. There is a private parking lot in the rear, but they will have it closed off and filled with tables during the summer months. However, there are other lots and parking options surrounding the building along Old Clairton if this is the case when you visit. We arrived just after 7:00, and the place was packed! They had the back parking lot closed off for seating, but luckily we found a spot right in front. There is no indoor seating here, as they advertise the business to be take-out only. Therefore, you can order online or through some delivery services if you truly are taking the order to-go. However, if you are "dining in," you can order at the counter inside. They will give you an order number, and then call the order number outside for you to come retrieve. First, we made our way inside to place an order. There was a decent line that went out the door, but we made it through that in about 10 minutes. Ordering was straight-forward, as the menu is not terribly long. For the beers, there were some different size options. Also, they sold reusable cans, crowlers, growlers, and mini kegs that can be brought back and refilled. In addition to the made-to-order food and beer, there are some snacks, grocery items, non-alcoholic drinks, and merchandise all for sale. After placing our order, we made our way to the back parking lot to find some seating. As stated, there was a live band performing and the place was pretty full. However, we did manage to get a table. There were picnic-style tables, as well as some bar-height seating. I also saw some patrons bring their own lawn chairs, so that is an option as well! The atmosphere outside was very lively. The music was good, there were a lot of groups socializing and having a good time, and there were some yard games set up on the one side of the lot. Definitely a nice spot to bring the family or meet up with some friends if the weather is nice. The wait from ordering to when we got our food was about 30 minutes. I know the food is prepared in-house, and is not generic restaurant pre-made-type food, so this is reasonable considering that. My fiance and I split a few dishes between us. We ordered the Chilled Colossal Shrimp, the Big Fat "Wings," and the Wood Fries Parm Crusted. The Chilled Colossal Shrimp came with 5 and a nice dipping sauce. I love cold shrimp, so this was my favorite dish. The Big Fat "Wings" are chicken drumsticks prepared like wings. Since it is a different cut, you get a lot of meat for your money. We ordered them with the buffalo sauce on the side as well. They were tasty, and again, a great way to make your dollar stretch for a lot of meat! The Wood Fries Parm Crusted are unique, as they are very thick cut. It is probably over a whole potato's worth of fries, so plenty to share. My fiance loves thick-cut fries like this, so he thought these were great. We enjoyed the food overall! For my beer, I ordered the Mortar, which is an American Brown Ale. I usually prefer a brown/red/amber-type of pour, so this was right up my alley. It was a nice sipper to have throughout the night. In terms of value, I think some items have a much better value than others. Specifically, I thought the fries and the chicken were very much worth the money. I personally did not order a pizza this trip, but some of those seemed to be slightly expensive to me personally. Despite that, you can make it worth your dollar depending on what you order and what you are looking for most. Since this place is take-out only, I truly did not have a ton of interaction with the staff, except for when I put my order in. I had no issues regarding this, though I feel as though I did not have enough interaction to make a comment on this aspect of the trip either way. Likely due to all of the seating being outside, the business is dog-friendly! We brought our dog, and he enjoyed socializing with the patrons and many other dogs who were there as well. This was a great place to spend a sunny August evening! I enjoyed the beer, food, and atmosphere at Truss. We loved the live music, and learned on this trip that they regularly hold a trivia night and other events as well. The only downside is that this experience is seasonal, and weather-dependent. However, the food and beer are available year-round, so you can give that a try anytime. I would recommend checking this place out with the warmer months quickly approaching!
