I can't think of a better coffee shop in La Mesa and they definitely rank in the top of all the coffee joints in SD. They provide genuine neighborhood vibe without the hipster pretension and combined with their menu it makes it a great place to visit and spend time in. I usually do the Cafe Au Lait with their dark roast, but their Vanilla Americano is also good and they also have a nice selection of teas. Their baked goods are consistently good and their muffins and croissants are always a safe choice. The internet connection is strong and they have events in the shop pretty frequently as well so there is usually something interesting going on there. Overall they have been a fabulous addition to La Mesa since they opened a couple years back and I couldn't imagine them not being in the area. On the next edition of newly discovered coffee spots in SD, I came here. I was immediately intrigued by the open space - The brick walls, wooden tables, open ceiling gave a cool, rustic, industrial feel. There's a huge plaque that explains how much steamed milk, coffee, espresso go into each drink. I never understood what the difference of an americano to a latte was, till I saw it. Very cool and easy to understand. I ordered the nitro cold brew - this was delicious! Very smooth and creamy. For some reason, the caffeine hits me a lot harder with cold brews. I love it. I also had their turkey pesto caprese panini! THIS WAS SOOO DELICIOUS! The olive bread was toasted and crunchy. If not handled carefully, it could cut the top of your mouth. Fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, turkey, and pesto! They don't hold back on the amount of pesto vs. turkey ratio. I felt like it was going to fall out of the sandwich, just how I like it. They have a wide assortment of coffee and sandwiches so you can count me on coming back. If you're in La Mesa, this new coffee spot will not disappoint. read more

First time here my iced latte tasted not fresh so this time I ordered açaí bowl no coconut and Kombucha. They forgot to order Kombucha so I cancelled, and my açaí bowl was ok, it had a bunch of chewy pieces of nuts I had to take it out each time I bite. I'm not sure if I would be back here. I work in the area and waited patiently for this spot to open. Though I don't always have time to stop by, I've managed to do so three times. Each time by beverage and sandwich has been wonderful. My first stop in the cashier was actually the owner. She told me her and her husband own it. They got tired of driving to North Park for good coffee, so they opened their own shop! I can totally relate, my husband and I have joked about this ourselves. The coffee is spot on and roasted locally (Barrio Logan, to be exact). The cold brew was nice and smooth, none of that bitterness. The turkey humus Penni is really yummy. I eat it on the rosemary bread, which has always been fresh and soft. Although, I haven't tried most of their menu. I'm sure it's all good! I'm so pleased they have so many stellar reviews on yelp. This place is great! As an avid coffee drinker I'm always looking for a good place to get a drink that isn't your typical chains. I've been to here a couple times and am always impressed with the drinks I get and also how welcoming the staff is here. I remember coming right after they opened and the owner even came out and chatted with me. I came here the other day for the first time in a while and got an Iced Viennese which is espresso, cinnamon, honey and milk - highly recommend if you like coffee that has some sweetness but isn't too sugary. I've been back twice in the last two weeks so I guess I'm hooked! I just wish this place was on my normal route so I can go more often! There's lots of space inside and outside to hang out as well as games to grab and play whenever you want. I saw some advertisements for live music and also paint nights that I definitely will be back to check out! They also have a rewards program which I greatly appreciate. :) my only small complaint is that I wish alternative milks were cheaper/free. They charge .75 which isn't the worst I've seen, but I've always been confused why coffee places charge extra for this when almond milk is basically the same price as regular milk. read more

First time here - great first impression! Looking for a place with good coffee and a slightly more "grown-up" feel for being in the state school area. Upon entering the two things I noticed were the rustic-industrial type design, and classy grad-school student vibe. It feels very clean, has ample tables of varying size and a nice ambiance. They even had live music starting at 6 on a Thursday! (Although hence why I'm writing reviews instead of doing work haha...) For all my indecision it was too late for me to try coffee but I was impressed by their offerings - americano and cortado looked good, they have a nice machine and clean process, as well as pour-over and cold brew process too. I loved the pu-erh (two different kinds of pu-erh!! When does that happen!) and were very nice about letting me run back to my car to grab my own cup (why dispose of a cup when I have a nicer reusable one 50 yards away...) I had no idea this place was here! I am so glad my boyfriend and I stumbled upon it. I had a blended chai latte and the wonderful barista suggested Oat milk instead of soy and it was easily the best blended chai I've ever had! My boyfriend also loved his matcha latte. So delicious. So excited to have a coffee shop right down the street that isn't Starbucks. This place is conveniently located in a little shopping center so parking will not be a problem at all which is a definite plus! I also really appreciate their hours of operation, they are the only coffee shop in the area open till midnight. They have really great options on the menu for drinks. I tried the lavender latte and a chocolate croissant. The lavender latte was very light and flavorful. It was great for me because I don't like heavy coffees like mochas too early in the morning. The chocolate croissant which I got warmed up tasted very fresh and it was a good size. They serve it to you with a fork but it's way easier to use your hands. If your going this option make sure you get lots of napkins. Very good but very messy! One of the managers/owners was very present opening day, introducing himself and making sure everything was going well. I'm really looking forward to coming back and making this my regular coffee spot. read more

A solid 4 stars. I've been here a number of times and have always had a positive experience. The coffee is always as ordered and satisfying. The food items have always been quite good, too. This place is a step above what you would expect from an neighborhood coffee shop. All of that said - they are SLOW as all get out with fulfilling orders. I ordered the breakfast sandwich and pumpkin spice latte. Their coffee is far too acidic for consumption. The PSL was savory and acidic, very strange for a coffee. I've been coming to this cafe since they opened and have been meaning to write a review! This place is my go-to for doing homework and meeting friends. They have a wide variety of seating that is perfect for sharing with other students or big groups of 6 meeting up. Their coffee is always made well, the food and pastries are tasty and they have healthy options as well as sweet! MY FAVORITE thing to get is really weird: PB+J with mozzarella! I have never seen an option to get cheese on that kind of sandwich, but the first time I went I saw the option to add it and went for it. I get one almost every time I go there to study. This place is a fun environment, and a great addition to La Mesa. The demographic is a mix of families, businesspeople, and students. Near the restrooms are games to use during your visit. This is a nice touch. Dogs can remain outside on the patio, but please be considerate to those who don't want fleas or hair in their food, and don't bring your dogs inside. Their jalapeno cheddar bagel with cream cheese is amazing. Rich flavor, and fairly decent size. The vegan chai scone is a nice addition, and it doesn't have an odd taste. You would never know it was vegan. I don't recommend the avocado toast, as it is pricey for the amount of food you receive. Despite my frequent visits, I have two concerns. The first is that there is almost always a line. (Currently, I am seeing 15 people in line, and four waiting for their orders.) No joke. Due to the popularity, more than one register and one cashier should be available to take orders. Apparently, the register doesn't offer the option to add notes, because the cashier repeatedly stops to write names and add notes to the receipt. They then dispatch the order to the barista and/or the kitchen, which further delays the line. I'm unsure why the receipts cannot be printed inside the kitchen or behind the barista for immediate attention. If another register is not an option, how about a second person expediting the line by taking orders or dispatching items for the cashier? This might encourage repeat visits for those who are in a hurry to get to work, or have other obligations. There have been several times where I have considered walking out because I know I can receive faster service elsewhere. (Hello mobile ordering!) Second, I frequently order a beverage and a pastry item. More often than not, there is a ten minute delay between items. Perhaps it's just me, but I like to have my coffee with my pastry. Brew is still new, and has great potential. Perhaps they will add another register and improve their processes to make their customers' experiences even better. They're off to a great start, and the employees are always friendly despite the fast-paced environment. read more

This is a torani syrup kinda spot and i knew when i walked in it wasn't going to be very good.
