However, it's a smaller stage compared to the other theaters in the area and very limited seating (currently 30-40 or so). So, with COVID and all it's tough to manage and I give them props for pushing through. They recently had a play of Christmas Carol featuring only four actors that did a phenomenal job with very little. It was all about the dialogue and using your imagination and they did an outstanding job at bringing the story to life! Looking forward to seeing this theater grow and develop further!

Their clapping stopped at seeing that flag. I have never, ever, seen any flags waved during a ballet performance! Your stage is not the place for injecting political beliefs/opinions. Keep your shows beautiful, please. We've all had enough of politics. We paid to see your ballerinas dance. Thank you.

We were looking & found a school that maximizes the individual abilities of the student working hard, through daily discipline, on perfecting tecnique as well as physical grace and artistic expression. The highly recognized, well aclaimed and professional teachers offer a combination of a fun & light sense of humor with clear & precise corrections...in other words no false praises, but rather a genuine critique that inspires confidence when a student attains growth & sincere recognition!!! Is the teacher Jen. She is young, fun and patient. NOTHING else is good. I can't wait to finish the classes I paid for and be done with this school. The place is a mess, crowded, kids in and out of room in the middle of the classes all the time. Teacher is late, place is Loud. Unprofessional and rude attendant at the front. My daughter refused to stay in the class of Ms. Sheryl and we moved to Jen's class. That's the only reason we are still going. Well, often they close the school for a week for competition (second time period of class) and don't let parents know, no Communication or email, we obviously don't go. Totally overrated this place

This lovely church graciously lends its home to the breathtaking, intimate performances of some of the finest musicians in the world, including the Vienna Piano Trio, the Guarneri String Quartet , and the Parker String Quartet, for just a few examples from the 2008- 2009 season.. The Melbourne Chamber Music Society, a non profit organization, books performances by world renowned classical musicians who are happy to stop by on their way to gigs in New York or Miami, and play for an appreciative audience in this very warm and cozy setting. And they play at greatly reduced prices, compared to the big cities! The 'stage' is near the center of the acoustically ideal and very attractive sanctuary, and many seats are so close to the musicians that you can actually read the music on the page along with the performers! If you love classical music, or are curious about what fine music sounds like "up close and personal" you should make it a point to experience one of these shows. However, hula is so beautiful and relaxing that I got caught up in the entire dance and cultural experience. I now cannot imagine not dancing hula and have learned from the best. I had taken a Hawaiian dance class previous to moving to FL while living in Los Angeles and by far, Kumu Chrissy is the best; truly a gifted teacher. I doubt there are few of her skill level outside of Hawai'i. She truly enjoys what she does and it shows in her dedication to her students. And it's a lot of fun. The group of dancers (that has grown from a dozen to around 80) have become a second family as we perform at shows and competitions. From young children to retirees, we are truly blessed to have this wonderful opportunity experience in Brevard.

Terror on Main Street is a Haunted House put on by the GFWC Sebastian River Junior Woman's Club…read more They are a non profit organization that helps the community and this is a fundraiser for them. This is the 39th year they have been doing the event. Admission is $10 and credit cards are accepted. It is running on select nights from 7:30 until 11:00 PM up until Halloween. The 38,000 square foot haunt is set up in a field outside. The walls are made out of plywood and you can see the sky above you so you don't feel too claustrophobic. You go through the different themed rooms like a kitchen with body parts and a mad doctor before ending up outside and finally in a maze. The maze was the most fun because you are really confused about how to get out while people are jumping out at you behind the corners. There is a trick to getting out of the maze but you will have to figure that out on your own. I loved this folksy event. The haunt was very long but not too scary. You can bring older elementary school aged kids to enjoy the fun. The scare actors are a hoot! It is obvious that the women's club puts a lot of work into this event. I found out about it when was in town and ended up going with a group of friends. We had a great time with a lot of laughs. Sebastian is the kind of small town where everyone knows everyone else. This is a great home town kind of event and I am glad I got to experience it this year.

I have been taken classes from Zaira for a year now at Dana's Dance Academy in Irving Texas and…read moreit's been a great journey. She's a great teacher and a skillful performer. I started in her beginner class and learned all the fundamental moves. Her class usually starts with warm up, then techniques and drills, finish with choreography and cool down. Now that I have advanced to intermediate class, she's been amazing at teaching us various choreographies with veils, zills, fans, and wings. I've seen her performed solos and with a group at the Texas State Fair and many local restaurants. I have learned so much from her classes and even performed along with her at various shows. It's such a fun experience!

This year was the 28th annual Pelican Island Wildlife Festival. The festival is held from 10:00 AM…read more- 4:00 PM in Riverview Park in Sebastian to commemorate the birthday of the refuge on March 14, 1903. Pelican National Wildlife refuge was created by one man's determination to protect the birds he loved. Paul Kroegel was a German immigrant and Sebastian resident and conservationist. He arrived in Sebastian in 1881 and homesteaded on the west bank of the Indian River across from Pelican Island. As he watched the birds on the island he fell in love with them and became increasingly disturbed by the hunters killing them. He took to protecting the birds by guarding them with his shotgun during a time when they had no lawful protection. Paul enlisted the help of the American Ornithologists Union and the Florida Audubon Society to help protect the birds. They joined together to pass legislation for protection of non-game birds. The Florida Audubon Society hired Paul Kroegel along with three other wardens to protect the birds from plume hunters and the sports hunters who would shoot at the birds while passing by on boats. During the time Paul served, two of the other wardens were murdered. Naturalist Frank Chapman and his fellow advocate, William Dutcher went to Theodore Roosevelts New York home to plead their case for the protection of the birds. In response President Roosevelt made Pelican Island the first National Wildlife Refuge in 1903. Paul Kroegel was hired as the first national wildlife refuge manager. He passed away in 1948. Since then the land was threatened in the 1960's developers attempted to buy the surrounding wetlands but local citizens stopped them. The Indian River Area Preservation League made up of local citrus growers, commercial fishermen, and sportsmen, joined with the Florida Audubon Society to convince the State to include the islands as a part of the refuge. In 1963, Pelican Island was designated as a National Historic Landmark by the Secretary of the Interior. Since then the refuge has gained over 500 more acres to help protect it from encroachment by development. There is a large parking lot with free parking adjacent to the park. Entrance to the festival is free. The event has live wildlife shows, food, environmental exhibitors, arts & crafts, a rehabilitated pelican release, raffle, amateur photography contest, native plant sale, educational presentations, historical reenactments with President Theodore Rossevelt, and for a fee boat tours to Pelican Island. I specially loved seeing all of the birds brought by the Treasure Coat Wildlife Center. Sadly because of their injuries, these birds can't be released into the wild and I was happy to donate to them. President Roosevelt is the Master of Ceremonies and is portrayed by Theodore Roosevelt interpreter, Joe Wiegand. He gave a wonderful presentation that taught about the history of Pelican Island and his efforts to protect its birds as well as other events in the life of President Roosevelt. The 2020 Pelican Island Wildlife Festival celebrated the 117th anniversary of the Pelican Island National Wildlife Reserve. The event is hosted by the Pelican Island Preservation Society and the City of Sebastian. It is a fantastic way to bring awareness to the refuge. Even though the festival is only held one day a year, you can visit the refuge 365 days a year.
