The employees running the line play the part from their outfits to stone faces. A large group of riders will be let inside the first and second waiting areas of the ride, which set the tone and have you greeted by a spooky host. Doom buggies will ride you through the various dark scenes and show you all the inhabitants of the mansion. 99 ghosts in all! Don't forget to check out the nearby gift shop.

It's a must-ride…read more It's not actually scary like a haunted house you'd go to during Halloween season or an attraction at Halloween Horror Nights at Universal. The ride is family-friendly, so kids and adults can enjoy it alike. I never rode this one as a kid, only as an adult, and I quite enjoyed it. It just has a lot of original charm and appeal. The ride is old and opened concurrently with Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971. While updates have been made over the years, I've heard that the original magic of the ride has stayed true to the original. We had Lightning Lane passes on a non-holiday Monday around 1:05 PM and experienced about a five-minute wait. The regular line was really long. There are lots of memorable moments. Highlights for me included the seance room with Madame Leota, the ballroom with the dancing ghosts (neat special effects; reminds me of Super Castlevania IV), and the cemetery with old-school animatronics. I like the song, "Grim Grinning Ghosts," composed by Buddy Baker in 1969. There are lots of fun details and Easter eggs inside and outside of the ride. Admittedly, I didn't notice that the paintings stretched. I was a bit disoriented in the "elevator" room and didn't know what to expect. I thought maybe the room was rotating. My wife and I got stuck for a few minutes in one of the "Doom Buggies" in the cemetery. That experience was actually fun and we didn't mind it. It gave me extra time to take in and appreciate the sights. Shortly after getting home from this trip to Disney World, we watched the movies Haunted Mansion (2023) and Muppets Haunted Mansion (2021) on Disney+. These are movies based on the ride. The original version of this ride at Disneyland in California is different. The Disneyland version is shorter and the outside looks like an antebellum mansion as opposed to the Disney World version's Gothic revival architecture. I recommend checking out Cinemassacre's September 2025 video review of The Haunted Mansion on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nQguaXmUzk

Parking is free and and so is the short tram or bus ride to the event. The experience begins on the ride as you're greeted by the bus driver; (Ours was named Splatter and his energy set the mood for the night) and his assistants who may give you a fright as they give you the lore/theme of the houses and their names. The premise of this event changes every year, and after our experience we are excited to see what they cook up next year. In the front yard of the event there are many food trucks to choose from, some with themed menu options, a few shops with an array of goods, and a DJ playing some Halloween classics. This area is a relatively small but we never felt crowded, and we're able to find seats at tables to eat, despite it being Halloween Night where we expected a peak number of visitors. The smaller area also guarantees that you'll have many encounters throughout the night with the scare actors who roam this open space. Screams from guests filled the air sporadically all throughout the night. The houses were extremely impressive. There were 3 free houses included in your ticket and 2 experiences where you pay for an extra ticket. These tickets also work as fast passes to the houses. We found that the lines went by quickly. The houses are not so much houses as they are trails through the wooded area in the event lot which added a lot more to the fear factor than your typical indoor haunted houses. Every scene was filled with props and scares. It was obvious how much effort was put into the designs of the sets. This year's premise to put it simply was an abandoned mall and the houses reflected that. What really made this night for us were the employees. This experience was very interactive and the scare actors all had great attitudes. They were in character but when we had questions about the event they answered us seriously and it showed. We got the impression that they enjoyed their work, and that helped keep spirits high all night

The treats I tried this time was the Puffy vampire brownie and the mini donuts with strawberry and blueberry drizzle. The donuts were a bit dry but the glaze was delicious.
