BEWARE - Ongoing issues with office management and prescription handling I have been a client at this practice for approximately 14 years, and unfortunately, my experiences with the office manager (female, shoulder-length brown hair, glasses) have consistently been negative. Her attitude and demeanor toward clients have been unprofessional for as long as I have been coming here, and I am confident many long-term clients will recognize exactly who I am referring to. Recently, these issues escalated in a way that directly affected my dog's pain management. I was only given a one-week supply of my dog's pain medication, and it then took an additional three business days just to obtain the printed prescriptions. One of my dog's medications was switched from liquid to pill form due to the office stating they were "out" of the liquid. The pill is extremely small and must now be cut into four pieces, which is impractical and increases the risk of inaccurate dosing. As a result of poor communication and delays, my dog is now without pain medication. The office was unexpectedly closed on a Saturday when they are normally open. I called at 7:00 a.m. the day prior to request a refill of gabapentin. I then received a call after the office had already closed, stating that they "needed more information" to fill the prescription--despite the fact that the same prescription had been filled just one week earlier, with only a one-week supply provided. No explanation was given for what additional information was needed. This pattern feels less like an isolated mistake and more like ongoing control over access to necessary medications, with no regard for the impact on pets or their owners. Additionally, the pricing is excessive. For example, I was charged approximately $40 for 30 gabapentin pills, while the same medication can be obtained through Chewy for about $9.60 for 120 pills. Based on my long history here and these recent events, I strongly caution pet owners. Prescription access is unreliable, communication is poor, medications are delayed or restricted without clear justification, and costs are unreasonably high. When it comes to your pet's comfort and pain management, these issues are unacceptable. read more

They deducted money from our bank account to mail a prescription to us. They took our money and we never recieved the prescription! We called! The office manager was rude and condescending! It's been months and we still have not received a refund! Also, prior to this incident, we took our dog to have his nails trimmed, we were charged over $100. They barely trimmed most of his nails, but he was bleeding from one of his nails. The place is dirty, smelly and over priced!!! So sad! read more

Been coming here for many years while Dr. May was there but since he's gone... so goes the service. Bought 6 mos. of topical flea & heart medicine as I told the receptionist i would be traveling. They were given in a box & bag. Should have checked them before leaving. Did not use on schedule. I was not in Fl. so only used it when the dogs started itching. The stuff stopped working and upon inspecting the packages they all expired 2 mos. ago. Called office manager & she will only give me credit for 2 mos. of meds. She can't ship them out of state. What???? So now i have 5 pkg. of useless flea meds that i paid over $100. for. They also have continued with the Covid protocol of taking your pet in the back for treatment.... without you. honestly I use them as one of my last resort. Place is decently clean. Staff is hit or miss. Some are friendlier. Came in on the weekend hoping to see a doctor but was told the doctors aren't in on the weekends. I get it's a place that is supposed to be cost friendly but to be Open especially on the weekends and not have a doctor or anything on call seems a little silly to me. Every time I come I have to clear my Schedule you are never seen at your scheduled time! There's no reason it should take 2 hours and 30 mins when you sold me on your puppy package and 3 visits have been the same. While the staffs nice and all that does not excuse having absolutely zero respect to your clients time! This will be our last visit! read more

My dog wasn't feeling well for a few days so I brought him to see the vet on a Saturday. The doctor took him in the back to treat him an let me know that he had diarrhea while he was in the back. I guess he was nervous or sick so that is understandable. He recommended a few different treatments then we decided which one. Then they gave our dog back wrapped in a blanket with his own poop all over him and the towel. I understand he had an accident and that is gross but the least they could have done is clean him up a little bit. He has had solid poop ever since we left.TMI I know.I was just in shock that a vet would give our dog back to us covered in feces. Makes you wonder how they treat the pets behind the closed doors. I am very impressed with Brevard Aid to Animals and here's why. I've taken my little shih tzu (the love of my life) here twice and both times have received exceptional care. I chose to give this place a try initially when I had some concerns about my pet and realized I needed to have him seen. What caught my eye was a sign on the exterior that read something about walk ins welcome. I decided to give them a shot. The staff is friendly and helpful. The place is clean and well maintained. They offer a wide range of services and products and are very similar to Florida Aid to Animals. I didn't have to wait long to have my dog seen either- the wait time was less than 30 minutes. I especially liked the vet (I believe his name is Jerry) and the techs. They were all so gentle and kind with my scared little dog. I have now been here twice and both times encountered the same vet who I really like. He has a good bedside manner. He seems very honest and forthcoming, and is also very gentle. Let's face it, no one likes taking their pet to the vet, especially an older dog, but if you do you want someone who seems to have your pet's best interest at heart. Both times I felt as though the vet and the staff genuinely cared about the well being of my little dog, and preservation of his life. And that ladies and gentleman, means the world to me. Prices are very reasonable especially where vet care is concerned (let's face it, none of it is cheap). Again they offer a wide range of services from preventative to medical. Little things, like the "feel" of the office(where can one hear the soothing strains of Van Morrison anymore?!) to the front desk gentility and concern, to the report between the loving and intensely calming father and daughter team, who spend as much time as I needed, to understand the multileveled treatment my dog requires, to the entire experience , I say yay and bravo... We took our cat here to get her vaccinations up to date. The front office is very clean and the staff are very friendly. It is a walk in only place but even with that we didn't have to wait long at all. The vet assistant was very friendly, and the vet who administered the vaccine was also very professional and nice. They both recognized that our cat was a little stressed out and were able to calm her down no problem. There are closer vets to our home but the drive up here is worth it, we will definitely be back! read more

I recently moved to the area and my dog really needed her anal glands expressed. I have a different vet I planned on setting her up with but unfortunately they are not open over the weekend which is when I have off of work. To make sure I could take her in for just the anal glands and to inquire about the price, I called the office. I was told that it was $20 and that the vet would have to see her first which prompted me to ask if there would be a standard appointment fee for the veterinarian to see her first. I asked multiple times for clarification and was reassured that there would be no additional fee on top of the $20 for her anal glands. So imagine my surprise when after having my dog in the back for no more than 2 minutes (they don't let you go back with your dog btw even if your pet is showing extreme anxiety being there and you're wearing a mask) I was told I had to pay up $45. When I asked the girl at the front desk why it was so much after I had already called to confirm the price she merely said that she didn't know who I had spoken to and she was sorry but that was the price. She then asked another girl behind the counter if she had spoken with anyone about the price of anal glad expressions and when calling her by name, I recognized it as the girl who had given me the information over the phone. Nonetheless, the girl said she had not spoken to anyone and didn't know anything about it. I didn't say anything as I was already very frustrated and just wanted to leave. This business is not transparent about their prices even when customers specifically call and ask! Paying $45 for something that took them 2 minutes and I could have had done for much cheaper elsewhere is ridiculous. I should not have been charged the additional fee as I was given false information but that was never even offered to fix their mistake. If you are on any kind of budget, DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE! I've known this place and the owner since They opened several years ago. This place and all its employees are outstanding, caring and very welcoming. The cost is low / mediocre at best in comparison to many other places that I've compared services too. If you love your pet, then I assure you they will have a genuine love for yours too. This place is awesome ! Bailey was incredibly knowledgeable patient and caring, Dr Maul took his time in determining why our cat was sick. He answered all my questions. I did not feel rushed. I brought my cat Saturday around 1:30pm. ( No appt. walked in ) He has been throwing up and not eating. The wait was not long at all, but if it would have been that was fine to. Where else was I going to go on a Saturday no appointment and pay less then $300. For an evaluation by the vet, blood work, I'V drip, antibiotics given to my cat while we were there and a prescription to take home. They assured me their drug prices were the lowest, charged me $75 for antibiotics, then learned I could have gotten same meds at three locations just a block away for $20. Ear cleaning was "squirt-squirt-wipe-wipe" no dirt removal, took all of 15 seconds. read more

We had a flea problem with our chihuahua, and went here for meds and assistance. Instead, we received a 15 minute berating from the tech how we were killing our dog, and how we were terrible pet owners. We left with our meds, chalking it up to the tech having a bad day. Fast forward a few weeks -- and a surprise visit from Brevard Animal Control wanting to see our "flea-infested" and "grossly underweight" dog. The dog catcher said an "anonymous" individual had reported us. We presented our dog, quite obviously at a healthy weight and not flea infested. My wife and are home bodies, we don't go out much and we have only *once* had someone remark about our dog being flea infested, and that was the tech at Brevard Aid To Animals. The tech, when confronted, didn't acknowledge me or my wife, or deny the claim. She kept her eyes to her computer keyboard. I was called a "jerk" by the office manager for "assuming" that the call came from her office, or one of her employees. It just ain't plausible that anyone was responsible but that office's tech. Friendly customer service, doctor Mal is very skilled and experienced, he did not rush and took time to explain Xray to me and other serious conditions like leptospirosis and fleas and ticks situation here in Florida because we just moved here from Colorado with our adopted dogs and need to be aware of local diseases. I want to start off by saying that this review does not reflect the veterinarians who have always taken great care of my animals, but it is directed towards the staff, particularly Jamie. I have been bringing my animals here for years because of the price and because of Dr. Fuller and Dr. Yukus. Jamie though, unsure if she is the owner or manager?, Is very rude, especially to her employees. Not only do the front desk girls constantly call her on the phone to trying get her to check out customers seeing as she is never where she is supposed to be, she talks down to her employees in front of customers. I feel so bad for all of the girls that work there for having to be talked to like that. It's embarrassing to even watch, I can't imagine how they feel being yelled at and degraded like that especially in front of other people. On top of that, when I am being billed out, she often disregards what the veterinarian says and gives her own advice as if she is a veterinarian herself. Mind you, she is not. I'm not sure if the veterinarians know this or not but I'm not even sure if that's allowed. It's tacks on an extra 30 minutes after I've already seen the vet! I have been trying to stay loyal to the veterinarians but at this rate how can you support a business that is run by someone who doesn't support their own veterinarians and employees? On another note, the doctors are great and I have always received amazing care from them. I wish I could see them somewhere else. read more

We are SO DISAPPOINTED with BATA!! We have used them for our vet services for many years and until recently have not had any complaints, only 5 Star reviews. We loved them so much we referred our entire family there. Today, my in laws had to make the decision to put their dog to sleep as he's come to his time and when they went to BATA this afternoon, they were basically told they were animal murders. They LOVE, LOVE their dogs and have had this dog since he was 8 weeks old and he is now 16. The doctor told them he didn't believe the dog was 16, that they were lying about the age and that they were lying about the symptoms and were trying to put down a healthy dog. The vet never even examined their dog. The dog stayed in my mother in laws arms the entire visit. SERIOUSLY, SERIOUSLY!!!!! My in laws are the absolute kindest people I've ever met and would NEVER, EVER do such a thing. They were so stressed and so sad making the decision to even take him to the vet and to be treated like this is just beyond abhorrent. That said, we WILL NOT be going back to BATA and neither will anyone I can talk to about this experience. I'm so saddened and so shocked by my in laws experience here. If you love your animals and you believe they are part of your family, DO NOT EVER GO TO BATA!!!!! read more
