I have always had a wonderful experience with them, but this last time I went the vet was horrible. I adopted 2 rescue kittens that had been treated for Coccidia. I took in a sample, not knowing which kitten it was from and after a with labs finally came back and there was still a small amount of parasite detected. I was told to come in and get the medication. The vet refused to treat the sister, both 3 months old, or my 2 other cats who were exposed. I don't even know which of the two the sample came from. All 4 are in their system and up to date. He threatened to leave the room and not even treat the one who I was told to pick up meds for. This is highly contagious and I have never seen a situation where if 1 is infected that they won't treat all exposed. I will definitely be reporting this veterinarian. I will make sure a different doctor is in a refuse his care...because he doesn't care! read more

August 7, 2025. On July 30, I called the Florida Aid to Animals veterinary clinic at 741 Creel St, Melbourne, FL 32935, because my German Shepherd puppy was stung by wasps. They told me they didn't have an appointment until August 7th. I had no choice but to wait because I had already called other clinics and their appointments were much farther away than the one they gave me. I couldn't take him to the emergency room because I had knee ligament surgery 5 weeks ago and unfortunately I still can't walk. It's been 3 months since I tore the ligament that I haven't been able to work. My puppy has suffered a lot without medication and I have only been able to cure him with iodine and neosporin. The puppy can't walk because of the inflammation in his hip and leg, but he can put weight on his paw and take small steps. Finally, the long-awaited day arrived when my puppy was finally going to be able to be seen. What happened? What do I tell the supposed doctor that the puppy can't? walk because of the swelling and she refused to treat my puppy's wound because she says they don't have an Rx and the puppy has a split leg. I explained to her that he was only stung by wasps and that he doesn't have a split leg. That I have waited a week for them to treat him. How can she tell me that she couldn't treat my puppy's infested bite? In the end I had to leave because she is wild. She refused to treat my puppy because if she had studied with love she would realize that the puppy needed his bite treated and given him antibiotics. Then she could have looked at his leg and realized that it wasn't split. A bad clinic that allows a doctor to make these decisions when they know that it is not legal to refuse to treat an animal when they have even given an appointment. How can a person assure that there is a broken bone if they didn't even give us the opportunity to put the puppy on the floor to demonstrate that he was supporting his leg. She never let us enter the room, she only came to where we were in the lobby waiting to say the stupid things she said. I didn't remember that 6 years ago I also gave you a bad review for something that also happened to one of my dogs. If you still haven't been able to change after so much time, it's because your clinic will always be garbage. read more

What a great resource for the pet owners of Brevard county! This place offers discounted vaccinations and limited medical exams/ procedures. They also sell a wide range of heart-worm preventative medications and other items. I've been taking my dogs here for about a year now and I've always been pleased. It can get a little hectic and packed in the waiting area (especially depending when you go), but the staff is always friendly and helpful. I especially love the discounted services (a lot cheaper than what the vet would charge). P.S. You animal must be caged or leashed when in the building! I love this group of people who TRULY love animals and go above and beyond. Lisa is the Exec Director and Krista is the PR exec. I'm sorry if people had issues with maybe other staff, but I can tell you the folks who run it are amazing. Prices are very affordable, and you may have to wait due to high volume for routine visits. If your beloved pet has a dire issue, let them know when making an appt and you can be expedited. Please do not take advantage of that, because I've known people who think their cat is ill because of fur balls and demanding an immediate emergency visit. Anyhow, I didn't know they existed here until recently. The story behind how this clinic started is truly cool. read more

Very disappointed with my visit to Florida Aid to Animals. They took my kitten without explaining anything to the back and said they were going to draw blood. She returned with my kitten and had given her multiple immunizations. Then the Vet Dr Monterroso came in to assess her. I asked if this was there normal practice to give a kitten shots before assessing her? I'm sure there are contradictions to immunizations and felt that the kitten should of been assessed before her shots. He spent 5 seconds assessing her. Dr Monterroso became rude and contrite when asked if this was normal practice. Poor medical practice. I will never let Dr Monterroso touch my animals again. read more

Unfortunately I had to take my 14 year old Pomeranian who at her age is doing fantastic to see dr victor monterroso as I needed a refill for her hyperthyroidism that she has had for 6 years. Her levels, weight and dosage has not changed in those 6 years. Before her check up I expressed to him that I would prefer that she didn't get blood work done too often since it stresses her out, he proceeded with the initial blood work, told me that her levels where low (due to being out of meds and didn't take for 5 days) and wanted to run more blood work in a month then in 6 months and only gave me 30 days of meds (exact same dosage as what she has been taking for 6yrs). I really miss my old vet out of state who actually understood all this and would do blood work once a year. He is not willing to work with anyone. Would not recommend him for this reason. The staff was very kind at least. read more

To start off I have been taking my dog here for 5 years for her shots, I also buy all her medications here every month. I've also taken my old cats and dogs here. So Its not my first time here. Today I took my dog in again. The vet was very rude. He spent maybe one minute with my dog. And when I asked a question about my dog, he became upset and quit examining my dog and left the room. All I asked was if my dogs teeth were okay because I have a rough time trying to brush them for her. The assistants were nice along with the front desk. But I would not recommend coming here. He is always rushed and usually in and out so quick you can't ask him questions. So I usually just ask his assistants. Didn't think this would happen if I actually did ask one to him directly. If you want to actually ask a vet questions about your dogs health I do not recommend. If your one of those people that don't care then go right ahead. I paid to have my dog examined and he wouldn't because I asked a question about something that's been concerning me, HIS customer. read more

I have come here a few times, they are affordable and can get you in pretty quickly, BUT they do not care if the services THEY perform are a direct cause of your pets illness in the days after. I purchased heart worm medication from them, the same one I have used since I got my pup and suddenly it causes her vomiting, now I have 5 months of preventative which cost a decent chunk of money and they basically shrugged and that was it. Sorry we made your dog sick, not our problem, contact the manufacturer. Now, I got her flu shot with them, she has been vomiting for three days on and off and her face is now swollen- what did they say- we can't do anything for you, take her somewhere else. Pardon my language, but fuck you. YOU caused my dog to be ill, YOU should fix the problem not tell me to take her elsewhere and spend more money to fix YOUR mistake. I love my dog and I will pay whatever money necessary to make her happy and healthy, but that behavior is extremely unprofessional and unethical. People come to you because they don't have the money to spend $300+ on yearly shots for their pet at other places. People come to you to see you care about their pet and this place has clearly demonstrated that that is not their desire. Update: I was contacted by the owner/executive director and she thoroughly apologized for the situation and explained that it never should have been handled that way. She said that their policy is to, no matter what, get you in to check on the animal even if they can't do anything. Although still upset about the situation, I appreciate her contacting me and explaining the situation. She did refund the portion of the price that was for the booster we weren't going to get and was very kind. Just because one person made a mistake doesn't mean this place shouldn't be sent to. He's only ever gotten glowing reviews from vets and kennels, yet they treated him like he was some aggressive thing for not liking a muzzle. What dog does?? Extremely reasonable prices for a limited array of services. We have been taking our pets here for years, and are very satisfied. There is usually less than a 10 minute wait (I always try to make my appointments right when they open). The staff is kind and knowledgeable; the exam & waiting rooms are clean and the low prices are much appreciated. We also get reminder postcards when vaccines are due. I went to Florida Aid to Animals on Creel St. My Cat was scratching his ear and the outside of the ear was bleeding. I told them I wanted to see a doctor to look at my cats ear to know why he was scratching his ear. The doctor came in and looked at the rear of my cat not the ear and said my cat had fleas. my cat does not have fleas he is on flea medication. The doctor would not look at the cat ear. Finally I told the doctor you have not even looked at my cats ear. Would you please look at my cats ear to see why he is scratching his ear and it is bleeding. The doctor would not look at the ear. I asked the doctor a 2nd time please look at my cats ear. The doctor said he could not help my cat. I took my cat to another vet at a different location, and that vet gave my cat an antibiotic shot for the ear infection and a plastic cone so the cat could not scratch the ear. The other vet also gave me drops for the cats ear. Stay away for Dr. Monterroso at Florida Aid to Animals he does not seem to know what he is doing. read more

I am originally from outside DC, and I'm here for graduate school. I switched over from Aloha because of the cost and the reviews Florida Aid to Animal has. HOWEVER, people fail to mention you should go to the PALM BAY location. NOT MELBOURNE! I am 26 years old, I pay my own bills, I don't answer to my parents for my decisions, therefore, when I walk into an establishment I expect to be treated as an adult. No one bothered to welcome me when I walked in... but not 5 mins later a gentleman walks in and the receptionists say hello and welcome as well as asking how is is and what brings him in today. I'm sorry... is there a reason I didn't get that same welcoming? I was basically ignored, signed in and sat down. Not only is the customer service terrible, but while sitting here for 15 mins they finally decide to come over and ask for any vet records I have (I brought in my new kitten). The receptionist takes all my paperwork and rips the pages while she takes the staple out and makes photo copies of who knows what. When she returns with my paperwork I am asked to sign a form... somehow this individual can't read. She puts the DOB for my KITTEN in July of 2012? When I called to make the appointment I said the DOB was approx 04-01-16... please explain where on Gods green earth did this idiot come up with the year 2012. When I commented on it she does that's what the paperwork said. I looked through the paperwork, NO WHERE does it even have the year 2012. So again... where did that date come from? I will be transferring to the Palm Bay location, I suggest anyone who feels the same way does the same. read more

I USED to take my dogs and cats here, until I found the Pet Vet folks @ Tractor Supply. They offer a mobile vet vaccination clinic for vaccines and heartworm meds for even LESS $$ than Fla. Aid To Animals. Very little overhead (as they are a MOBILE clinic), but they do NOT treat sick animals....mostly vaccines and heartworm checks and heartworm meds dispensing. (They WILL do nail trims, tho'.) They are at Tractor Supply every 3 weeks or so...always on Sundays, and from 9:30 am - 11 am. read more

I am planning on going to this facility after getting a good recommendation by a neighbor. One thing that seems to be mentioned frequently in the reviews, is the wait time. Well, we now go to one of the most expensive vets in Brevard County who is "beachside" and I can tell you that we always have to wait for at least 15-20 minutes....get a different Vet each time (who has his/her opinion) and it always costs a fortune... Beware! I took my beautiful male kitten there to get neutered. They told me that one of his testicles hadn't dropped so they needed to do further surgery to be successful (of course at extra charge). He grew into a Tom Cat with all the problems associated. They kept assuring me he was fixed. Finally had blood work done that proved it. Couldn't fix it. Had to put him down. Broke my heart. Been going to Florida aid to animals for over 4 years now and the only thing I can say is, show up at least an hour late for EVERY appointment you make because no matter what you will wait an hour or more, EVERYTIME. Came in 30 minuets early today to try and see if I would actually be seen at my appointment time of 10am well here I am an hour and a half later STILL waiting... It's it cheaper than most vets but to have patients with actual lives,(not stay at home dog lovers) wait over and hour to be seen when you have an appointment made is just ridiculous to me and honestly this needs to be fixed! I brought my Flemish Giant buck in in August to be neutered. I just read numerous reviews, and had to post my own. Many people complained because they weren't greeted when they walked in the door. More than likely they didn't even see you when you walked in, I know they were on the phone when I first visited to make my appointment and make my down payment. I stood patiently and waited till someone was off the phone and available. Hmmm maybe we should go into an establishment with the thought of blessing their day instead of with the thought that they should cater to me! There were complaints about the wait and the inefficiency of their service. And that one of the locations locked the door when someone showed up at closing time. (If I showed up at closing time, I believe I wouldn't be surprised if they locked the door--its closing time!) One of my observations was the fact that they are extremely busy--which is why people have to wait; a suggestion would be that as one person said--make your appointment early when they first open--you wont wait then. I will stop and just say that I found the staff very busy and doing their best in such a chaotic atmosphere with dogs barking and phones ringing constantly. I was very pleased with their services and extremely pleased with the cost of what they did for my guy Harvey. (my Flemish giant rabbit). Haven't been here yet but will be making an appointment in the morning to bring my dog in for a wellness check and to have her rabies shot up to date, have her weighed and hopefully get paperwork for an apartment complex that I am moving into. It needs to be proven that she is not on the dangerous dog breed list. I don't know what breed of dog she is . She kind of adopted me. The only great thing about this place is how cheap it is. I was recommended here by a friend after I visited a local vet and had a bad experience. The staff isn't friendly, they don't greet you when you walk in or at any point during your visit, and quite frankly you'd think that you were imposing on them. The term customer service doesn't apply here but the prices are the only thing that keeps me coming back. I stopped by the Palm Bay location and was walking up to the door right at 5pm because I needed to get my dog's medicine and as I'm walking up to open the door, one of the employee's locks the door right before I can open it and walks away while 2 others watched. Heaven forbid they spend 5 minutes ringing me up and grabbing my dog's medication before they close their doors. They've got no respect for their customers. read more

-10 stars The Melbourne office left my dogs reproductive organs in place following a spay that I paid 140.00 for in full! 10 months later my dog developed a secondary infection as her organs grew back and she came into heat! The owner is the only person who can speak to me as this is what they claim. She is horrible at returning phone calls and since Oct. 2014 cost us the expense of 2 office visits to other Vets and made my dog suffer beyond belief. Another clinic has stepped up and corrected this horrible mistake at a reduced cost. We faxed Lisa from FATA the surgery findings, we have called twice and still no return calls. I wonder will FATA own up and refund my dogs botched surgery????!!!!! I wonder, will you take your pet there???? read more

If all you want is a low cost option for your puppy's shots or annual vaccines then this is a really good option, but that is quite literally all you will get. I completely understand they are very busy and it's not a full service veterinarian but I was really disappointed in the general service. I got my first puppy and the night before one of her shot visits she had a pretty bad spell of diarrhea. Naturally I was pretty worried and when I asked about what it could be or what to do I just got kind of a blank stare and come back if it's still happening in a few days. To be fair, Luna was fine after a change in kibble, but I guess you could say their bedside manner is pretty curt. Any questions I have asked have gotten really short answers, which is likely because they are so busy. Once her puppy wellness plan is over and she has been fixed I will be taking her elsewhere for annual visits and the like. Just for me I like to feel the person handling my dogs health actually is invested or interested, not saying they don't care about your dog just saying they don't have time to show it maybe. read more

I have a very sick puppy. He has had to be seen at least once a week for two months. I can't begin to imagine what it would have cost going to a private vet.The people at Florida Aid to Animals in Melbourne have gone above and beyond to not only help my puppy but to accommodate my schedule as well. They have all worked together to help him and me feel better and even found a specialist for me when the scope of his illness was beyond their practice. My only complaint is the wait but what can you expect when so many people want to enjoy such fine service and caring? read more

I am completely heartbroken while writing this review. I took my small 7 lb yorkie to have his teeth cleaned to this facility the first of March 2016. They kept telling me he needed his teeth cleaned, and he would be okay, they do this all the time, routine procedure, nothing to worry about. I know I should have been brushing his teeth and having his teeth cleaned his whole life, but I didn't, so I am a bad mom. But my little boy was perfect when he went in for his teeth to be cleaned he was 10 yrs old, and still had the spunk of a puppy. They told me 5 teeth just fell out and they had to pull 5 teeth. Okay, they put him under, I don't know how long he was under, but it wasn't too long. All I know is when I picked him up, I did not have the same dog. He never came back to me, he went BLIND, he COULDNT BREATHE and panted hard for 24 hrs a day, his belly blew up like a basketball, he gained 2 1/2 pounds in 5 days. I was so freaked out, he wouldn't open his mouth, never did play with his toys, wouldn't /couldn't jump anymore, he loved to chase the shadows/light, he never did that again.. So people let me just cut to the chase here, you get the sad picture of my dear loving pet whom was my baby. My mother came to town and saw him for the first time after his teeth episode, and told me, girl, you have got to do something for your baby. So, Yes, I had to put him down the first of May 2016, because for two months I was being brainwashed by my regular vet being told he could live like this that he had COPD with collapsed trachea and for him to take some asthma medication ($60/mth). However, Florida Aid had seen him as well, and the only thing they did was refer me to a doggy eye doc. Really???? Florida Aid to Animals never took responsibility, of course I probably signed my rights away before his teeth cleaning too. They knew they OVER ANESTHESIA'D him, I have read and read about this on the internet and I know this is what happened. But what can I do about it, nothing, he is gone, my heart is crushed and let me tell you, I have never cried so hard and loud in a public place other than a funeral home before. This little yorkie was special, as all our animals are, but he brought me through some dark times in the almost 11 years in my life. He will be missed for the rest of mine. PLEASE THINK TWICE BEFORE PUTTING YOUR ANIMALS IN THEIR HANDS WITH ANESTHESIA. OBVIOUSLY, SOMEONE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THEY WERE DOING OR MY BABY WOULD BE HERE CHASING THE LIGHT WITH ME. I feel so guilty, if I hadn't put him there to have his teeth cleaned, he would still be here. But he needed his teeth cleaned and I thought he would be safe like I was told. Now I have this to live with. I will NEVER go back to this facility. Sorry can't do it. read more

Ive seen two different vets at the palm bay location and I must admit that they are wonderful. Very helpful, sweet, seem to really enjoy animals and don't seem to be a a hurry to get you out the door. I also, of course, like prices there. But the reason that I didn't give a higher rating is for the same reason as Julia. I had found a dog one night during a rainstorm and went to FATA the following day to have it scanned to see if it had a microchip. I got there right at closing time and the door was already locked and lights were off, but the male receptionist was cleaning the waiting room. I stood for a moment at the door thinking he would at least acknowledge me. Nope. I knocked on the door. Didn't even look up. Of course he had no way of knowing that I only needed this dog to be quickly scanned but he could have taken a moment to at least look up, if not actually speak to me. read more
