I've had blepharoplasty, as well as Botox injections but now, I'm at a point where I'm being told I would benefit from getting a direct brow lift. My problem is not my diagnosis it's the way this office handles billing. After asking many questions about the procedure, prescription and costs, Nethery Eye Associates (NEA) gives me a quote for the doctor fees plus explains that there is a cost at the surgical center as well. I call the surgical center to get the cost. Two weeks later I have my evaluation appointment at NEA, see Dr. Sears and he explains the procedure again. I get to the front desk billing/ and she quotes me $1,000 more for Dr. Sears to do the procedure! I question her and she says the fees went up - then tells me she confirmed with her manager just this morning. I understand that I asked a lot of questions before I commit to a surgery, including why Dr. Sears refused to write it up as medically necessary when knows my past vision history and all that I've been through to try and see better. They either got foggy before lunch or actually hurt. I read about Dr. Bass on a Facebook keratoconus group and made an appointment. I am so glad I did. He and his staff are so nice. He tried some tester lenses on me in his office and found the right fit for me. When the lenses with my prescription came they were great, but Dr Bass thought he could get them better, and he did. I can wear my new lenses all day long with no fogging and no pain and I can see so much better than I could with my glasses. If you need a new eye doctor definitely give Dr. Bass a try.

WARNING! These are…read morethe facts: I just walked out of an appointment. They claimed they took my insurance; I made an appointment. Arranged to take time off work to come here. I arrive and they tell me that I have to pay a $39 fee for some random eye scan technology. AND it is not covered by insurance. They will not take no for an answer. I read the paperwork, and it said it was required. They said the Dr will not see you unless you agree and get the scan. So, I left. Those were the facts. This is not an opinion. This is what literally happened to me. The following is my opinion based on consumer protection, patient care and ethical principles: This is the issue: They wait until you are there to tell you. This was not told to me on the phone when I made the appt. They could have told me it was required. But they prey on people who, like me, took time off of work so the people feel desperate. Very predatory. I have paid my eye insurance money so that I can get a visit there for no charge. That was what the agreement with the provider and the insurance company was. In my life, I have never had this eye scan done. I don't care if the "dr" thinks it's great. It's an attempt to open your wallet. I have had it offered by other optometrists and it is always OPTIONAL. In fact, Eyeworks, down Hulen, offers this scan for the same price but it is OPTIONAL. NOT REQUIRED. This is the age of surcharges, fees, taxes and tips. DO NOT GO HERE. There are plenty of other optometrists in Fort Worth that do not attempt to tack on last minute charges. Oh! Also, while I was in the facility, the people locked the door. Maybe for safety? However, this is against OSHA law and against fire code. Please consider that as well. If the place catches on fire, you are locked in.
