What a delightful experience purchasing my new eyeglasses at EYEWORKS HULEN in Fort Worth. I drive many miles to shop at this store as I have found their inventory each year carries the top of the line in designer styles. I had a wonderful experience being helped today by Vinessa! She so cheerfully welcomed me and offered to help me complete my purchase and fitting of glasses. Marc, kindly helped me in the frame selection 2 weeks earlier and invited their coworker Lana to give her personal opinion on my frame choice. This is my first and last time there. When I had my eye exam, everything went well, but when I went to order my glasses, the people there were not friendly at all. They didn't say hello, they didn't even offer me a seat when they were taking my measurements. When a man were helping me, a woman who works there came by and seemed like she was the manager, but she didn't even say hello. Not a good experience here and would not recommend eye care if needing medical appointments for any health issue. Was seen here by optometrist for corneal ulcer (a serious acute condition). My corneal specialist opthamologist is out of state and asked for me to pick up hard copies of the medical records from the visit so she could take a look and advise (and add to my main medical file). Unlike any eye or medical office I've ever visited, even for your files for "yourself" for your own records, I was informed the request normally takes 3 to 4 weeks! After raising cane there, I was then informed they would see what they could do to get me the handful of pages I needed the following week. And they really didn't even seem to care. When someone is being treated for a serious, acute health condition and you need your records, this should not be a drawn out process and is far far outdated. Larger health care offices like Baylor offices, one has almost immediate access to medical notes, lab results, etc. Never have observed a response of requiring 3 to 4 weeks. Do not go here for medical care and good patient/customer care. You will not be served well! read more

My wife and I just experienced white glove experience at a doctor's office! The entire process was grade A+ check-in, eye screening, exams, explanations and picking out glasses was a top tier experience you can only hope for when visiting a health care professional. Let me say I felt pressured to take just any Old pair of frames and lenses. As I went In today I told her I hated the frames I was forced to get by The guy who had personality of a wet sponge and the lady was completely hitting on my Husband right in front of me . She could tell I was annoyed and kept bumping her gums at him .. she is so Lucky she didn't catch these hands after her work day was over ... The front desk people are rude and snappy. I will tell everybody that say the words glasses do not come here . I waited 3 weeks before I called only to be told the people who make the frames are at fault , no you are at fault for not updating me . This place absolutely sucks .. all they want is your money .. My appointment was at the Hulen office and Dr. Mathew did a thorogh and accurate job on my refraction exam and I left the exam room feeling confident with his prescription. Then I shopped frames and leses with Vinessa, and I felt like she really bent over backwards to get me what I needed and still keep it affordable for me. I just picked up my glasses today and I couldn't be happier! I've been having so much trouble with reading my computer screen that I was beginng to thing I would have to have cataract surgery, but now my vision is clearer than it has been in several years. Dr. Chu. Looks quite young like one of my kids. Do not let that fool you. Dr.Chu is a truly a miracle worker. I've been wearing eyewear since they strapped my first pair on at 3 months old. 53 years. Had my first cataract removed yesterday and today, for the first time, I greeted the world without glasses. OMG. This is a game changer. I can see clearly now the cataract is gone. I'm going to preface this by pointing out that I hardly ever leave reviews, negative or positive but after this experience I felt I had to speak out, and 1 star is me being generous. I scheduled a new patient appointment at this location with the first available doctor, so I took the time off of work because they're not able to fit you in on weekends for glasses or contact lens exams. Patient care is nothing to write home about, so don't get your hopes up. The optical department at this place is what pissed me off about how this place operates. I knew what model number of frame I wanted and exactly what I wanted on them, despite them trying to add on all this unnecessary stuff. The lady at the optical gave me a price based on what my insurance would cover, and charged me $76 for what she stated I was responsible for. She said it would take about 2-3 weeks or maybe a little bit longer for the frame to come in because of Covid. About a week after my visit, I was left a voicemail from the optical stating that I owed a balance and that I had to pay before I am able to get my frame. Once the frame came in, I went to go pick it up and figure out why they were charging me extra. The lady stated, "She mistakenly charged me for a frame that was priced at $199, instead of $299." When I asked her to show me their catalog or website they order from to see the price for that specific frame I ordered she declined and said that's just the standard price for ray bans. She stated her purchasing manager told her I should have been charged $299 for the frame, not $199 and that in order for me to be able to take the frames that day, I had to pay another $79.20. Apart from this being a complete crock of bs, the optical department refused to adjust the price stating that all transactions are final, and that she already had the transaction finalized. I paid. One, because my vision changed and I needed the new glasses and two, they wasted no time in billing my insurance plan before the end of the year and to have that claim reversed would take time I didn't have to go somewhere else before the year's benefits would expire. If this wasn't enough, this optical guy was instructed to bring out the glasses after I paid for them. I got them fitted and left. Five minutes after leaving, I got a call from the guy who fitted me for the glasses, saying that I had to pay for them and that I needed to come back. I told him I already paid and he laughed and said, "yeah right, we'll see you here", then hung up on me. Thirty minutes later, same guy calls me again and asks why I haven't paid for the glasses. I had to ask if he needed me to drive back there and show him the damn receipt before he checked the account to see if I did or not. Their optical staff is inept, disrespectful and completely unprofessional. Save yourself the headache and please go somewhere else. read more

I went to another facility and they doubled and gotten my prescription completely off when I receive their glasses. I had been to Eyeworks before and wanted a second opinion. They were very prompt with reviewing the situation and did extra testing to see if my vision has changed that drastically. If I had worn the other prescriptions my eyes would've been ruin. I am very grateful for the honesty and clarity of both for Dr. Matthew, & Heidi who does the guy where in another Eyeworks clinic. I get the most fantastic service and the Hulen store has the most beautiful us office and staff but I favor Heidi for her style of critiquing my flair for Eyeware. I highly recommend Eyeworks for making sure your eyes are OK. I trust my vision with these people. read more

Worst eye doctor visit I've ever had. I originally was scheduled to be seen at the West 7th office and was sent to the Hulen office because Dr. Matthew was in network. When I arrived and began talking with Dr. Matthew, he repeatedly kept interrupting me while I tried to explain the full picture of the recurring stye issue I was experiencing with my eye. He then belittled the method I was currently using to clean my eye as being a "poor mans" method even though I was trying to explain that it's worked for over a year and a half. He then said "well you're here now so clearly it's not working", not taking into account any other possible reasons for the issue. It got to the point where I was almost arguing with him just to get him to listen to the background I was trying to give. It became apparent that he entered the room with a preconceived diagnosis of my issue, how he would handle it, and was not willing to listen to what I was saying. I paid $85 to argue with a doctor for 30 minutes. After I finally convinced him I needed to have minor eye surgery to have the issue resolved, the office booked me for a doctor that was out of network back at the West 7th location. The only reason I knew ahead of time was because I called and asked. Another oversight and lack of communication between the two offices. Very disappointed in the doctor and overall service. I've never experienced a doctor visit like this. I would not recommend Dr. Danny Philip Matthew to anyone. read more

I was recommended to contact this office by my colleague since I'm all new to Fort Worth. I contacted other ophthalmologist offices before discovering this one. This one by far, surpass my experience compared to all the other ones I contacted in Forth Worth. The receptionist was so sweet and accommodating. She was lovely to work with. I had a rapid onset of medical issues with my eye and the office was able to squeeze me in a same day appointment. I was so grateful because some other places told me that they would not be able to see me until a week later. Dr. Danny and his technicians are amazing. Dr. Danny was great at explaining all the possible causes, treatment plan and follow up. I feel confident that I'm in great hands. I highly recommend them for opthalmology care and comprehensive eye exams. They are one of the few offices that offer Saturday exams. Love it! read more

When my eye doctor moved to Dallas, I chose Eyeworks because a friend recommended Dr. Chu. When I walked in the office for an updated glasses prescription, another friend was sitting there awaiting her final post-Lasik checkup, and she said her experience with Dr. Richard Chu was excellent. I know I'll bee needing cataract surgery sooner or later, I plan to get Lasik surgery from Dr. Chu when I need it. My exam went well. The office was clean and attractive, Covid safety protocols were being followed, and the office staff was competent and welcoming. I had a exam for contacts and eye lenses today and the welcome clerks were sweet. The pre examination staff were kind and professional. My sales associate for the my frames purchase was brief and very professional. My only issue was my experience with Katherine Mor. I was prescribed contacts lenses for astigmatism and I was not informed of how the lenses worked when it comes to the contacts having vision lines. When I was sent off to have the contacts fitted, a gentleman had to rotate my lenses and with me not knowing about the lined contacts, it truly freaked me out. I had never had contacts be rotated by a staff member before and it led me to think "what is going on?". I expressed my concern with my vision to a desk clerk and she sent me back to Katherine Mor. I explained that my vision was a little blurry to Katherine and she did a quick evaluation and responded "the lines look straight , everything should be fine" I responded, "what lines?" She then quickly explained that for astigmatism the contacts come with lines and they have to be in line for the focus of the lenses to be correct. If they are not straight, things could be blurry,etc. I then asked more questions about astigmatism and she was quick with every response as if it was something that I should know and not what she should have taken the time to inform me about. That was my first time learning of astigmatism or even me having it. There was no question of if I knew I had astigmatism or what to experience with contact lenses that was asked by Katherine. She just said that I had it and sent me on about my way. To offer some advice, if a patient is being prescribed with astigmatism and there could be a variation in experience to what they have previously encountered, the specialist should ask "Are you aware that you have astigmatism?" and then any differences in the prescribed product should be mentioned to the patient. That simple act would've saved so much time. Katherine belittled me with her responses to my questions about astigmatism. She responded as if she was protecting her pride instead of realizing that she missed a step in her process. The only response she gave to defend her act of not informing me was "well I didn't have any knowledge of what contacts you wore before this". That still doesn't dismiss that she had the time to do a proper evaluation and should have informed me of what was going on currently. Katherine made my skin crawl. It ruined my entire experience. I will never come back to this location because of Katherine. She is the reason that the rate is so low. read more

This was a horrific experience. I will not be coming back to Eyeworks. At the front desk, the staff did not address or greet me. I had to go get their attention about my appointment. Trying to get the appointment was a huge hassle. I called two different offices and emailed them (using the system on the website). I never got through via call. The way my appointment was scheduled was through email and it was confirmed via email and text. In both confirmations, it gave me a different location from the Hulen location, which is the office I requested. I called again to get clarity, but no one picked up. I texted and then I got a confirmation for the correct office - Hulen. This took hours out of my day. I asked them about it when I got there and they only had excuses and blamed their email system. I can understand if something happened (the system was down or whatever), but it was more that the system was incapable of changing the locations. Insane that accurate information is not able to be shown in confirmation emails - that is the whole purpose of the confirmation. Pathetic. At my appointment, a technician told me my vision changed slightly, so I got different contacts, but then the optometrist came in and told me that my contacts will not change. Yet, I got charged for a contact fitting. I don't understand this, since that wasn't a fitting. I could have foregone this cost and waited on my contacts. Shows profits over the client. The optometrist was rushing the appointment and not at all personable. While I think this is a different matter, since I don't have to get along with someone to respect their work, I felt like I was the last concern. There was very little care in the appointment and it was rushed. At the end of the appointment, I requested at the front desk to have my contacts delivered to another location. I got a text and email confirmation that my contacts were at the office, but it stated the Hulen office. I called them to confirm which office they sent the contacts to - only reasonable, right? I inquired them about the inaccuracy of the confirmation. They again simply blamed their system - that it was incapable of showing another office from where the contacts were originally ordered. The confirmations *need* to show the accurate office of the appointment or pick up. Please do yourself a favor - look for another eyecare provider cuz uh, this place suuuucks. read more

I was originally referred by the VA for cataract surgery a little over a year ago. That seemed to go okay, but, shortly after surgery I began telling people there that there was a "broken line" effect in my left eye. I've told them every time I've been in and no one has addressed that yet. I recently went in because of blurriness in my vision and gummy eyes. I was told that my insurance covered my visit. The next day (after again having my question about the "broken line" effect ignored), I received a call and was told that my insurance did NOT cover my visit, which somehow was considered just an eye exam, despite the fact Dr. Lena Chu said my eyes were inflamed and prescribed an antibiotic. I am not happy with the cavalier ignoring of my concern, and, after going there because I was told my insurance WOULD cover my visit, finding out that I might be charged. I might add that the office had several signs saying they accepted Medicare, and last year my wife went in for an eye exam, was told HER insurance, the same as mine, would cover her services. read more

Such a good place to go fro glasses and eye appointments! I was in and out in no time! I felt very sanitary as they have everyone use hand sanitizer before walking in to the office. Vinessa was so very helpful in my glasses process. She was able to help me with my insurance troubles, help me pick out glasses that look best, and had the absolutely best most inviting attitude ever! This place clearly only hires women with attitude problems. For a vision clinic, they sure have issues reading the copay and coverage for my insurance which covers the contact exam at 100%. They refused to give me the prescription without me paying $150 after wasting 2 hours of my time on their horrible practice/service. After patronizing this business for as long as I have when it was Hulen Eyecare I must sever ties with all dealings and association. After having my last exam in 07/12 I was again for the second time provided with the wrong perscription in my newly high designer end frames. Not to mention being over charged on several services. The new office account person is not honest and the services being rendered for a complete exam by doctor is aged questionable to the highest dispute. Loyality of good paying service now days is for in between of being provided nowadays. It's sad to see business of the calibur who struggled to grow to this magnitude and than be disloya on service to seasoned customers. Choosing to take my business elsewhere have never felt so good along with letting future prospects that may want to patronize Eyeworks know to be warned and informed. I love going here because they are prompt with the appointment I never wait long and I have been fortunate to see the same person each time . I don't know if they do that on purpose but it does add a extra comfort level . They also don't pressure you to do anything if they have anew eye test they ask you only once if you would like to try it and if you say no they do t pressure you about it and after when you get prescription it is up to you if you want to see the group there and pick out frames or if you want to take a copy of your script and go elsewhere . I just really like them and I already go to the office off Hulen because the people are so nice there . read more

They didn't take my insurance so I had to self pay and it was actually really expensive compared to a lot of places... You pay for an exam and then you pay double that for what they call the contact exam... I felt like they were just in the business of making money. A couple years ago they suggested a surgery that I had gotten second and third opinion about and it just was not something I should've done or should do. When I went back this year I mentioned that and they had no explanation for why other doctors would tell me differently... they just kind of looked at me blankly and nodded lol They actually try to introduce a new contact brand to me and trying to sell it to me with a rebate and this and that... When I never even tried them yet-so at check out they had already calculated them in... $600! And then they had that order done on a prescription that wasn't right lol but they were just basing it off of years ago lolSo again I just don't feel like it's for me I'll be looking for another doctor read more

I've been coming here for years, mostly because it's close to home. The doctors are ok but the front desk staff is terrible. More likely than not, if you call you will be placed on hold. Sometimes they will forget about you. It's frustrating. Also, you make an appointment for 10 and wind up waiting for over 45 minutes. It's absolutely unacceptable. Great front office staff, and technicians were very knowledgeable and friendly. I had a foreign object lodged in my upper eyelid which was scratching my eyeball. Dr Robert Chu removed it, explained (in terms I could understand) what was going on, removed the object, which felt HUGE, but actually wasn't, and prescribed antibiotics . My entire time spent there was 35 minutes. Im sure unforeseen circumstances may make appointments longer, but having your insurance handy when making your appointment, and focusing on the care provided, rather than any small inconveniences, you'll be very satisfied. This place is really atrocious. I've never ordered glasses from a place with such a horrible customer service. Once I placed my order for a custom frame, it went on MONTHS without me hearing a word. I don't mind if my glasses are coming in late but at least I'd like to know about it. I have to call back multiple times to inquire about the status of my order and everytime they assure me it's only a couple of days away. Finally they arrive but the frame is not even the right color. I'd been hassling them so much that they had decided to just order anything to get me off their back. I was told I would hear back from them once the right colored frame gets in but of course it's been weeks with no news. Be very careful. If ordering a pair of frames from here is such a nightmare I cannot imagine what lasik surgery here would be like. read more
