This place is a gem out here in the Hamptons, there is a convenience store with goods along with a deli / bakery also providing freshly made meals from the kitchen daily and a buffet to choose of variety and topics of food to pack to go. The staff are friendly and hard workers serving their customers with courtesy and hospitality service. It's clean and organized and lot to browse through as you can shop while you're order is working. Definitely stop here if you're visiting to the beaches for commuters including locals. read more

Curious to check out this place with people going in and out every time I drove on by. Ah-ha, it's a weathered small market with a delicatessen and a large counter of takeout prepared foods. With the help of a cordial server on this visit, I decided to pick up some of their much hooted about fried chicken, a few salads, and cold cuts. Back at the house, we all enjoyed their macaroni salad. As for the fried chicken, divided we were. To me, it was okay, moist was the meat, needed seasoning, and, more of a well battered crunchy skin; and yet, there were those who really liked it. I've held back on reviewing this establishment in the past but this morning I must say something. I stop in here quite a bit on my way out to Montauk. I had an issue a few weeks ago what is simple grilled cheese sandwich. This morning I stop in for my normal toast with butter. Sometimes I'm charged $.80 sometimes I'm charged a dollar today $1.50. When I question the cashier she tells me I should've said something to the girl at the counter. Bottom line they need a lesson in customer service here... When you're in the Hamptons, there is no end to people being rude to folks behind the counter, so this sign is a godsend. In my opinion, this sign should be EVERYWHERE, not just out on the end of Long Island in a funky little deli/convenience store. This is where the locals get their coffee and breakfast in the morning. This is where the locals get a delicious sandwich and a drink at lunch. The guy who is fixing your water heater started his day at Brent's. Your yoga instructor started her day at Brent's. The service is good and efficient. I have had both the Mussolini's Revenge and the Breaded Chicken sandwiches for lunch, and they are EXCELLENT. I have been coming to Brent's for years. We have a home just down the street and their sandwiches have always been delicious! The meat is fresh, the bread is soft, and overall just high quality! We order sandwiches to go and take them to the beach to enjoy. I would recommend the honey turkey + bacon with lettuce and tomato! Or a classic BLT. So I'm driving by and they have a sign that says "Best Fried Chicken In New York" and I'm thinking "after I get done working I'm gonna get some of that Chicken! I'd say that there are some selective comprehension skills at work here, but I digress. So I get my bird neatly wrapped and head for the chilled beverage department, I choose a Core Organic Tropical Coconut water stuff, and head to cash out. The lady rings me up for a grand total of $8 and some change! I'm like HO-LY TOE-LEE-DO! Four piece chicken and a drink!?! Where the HELL am I!?! then I remember, and calmed down slightly. I get out to the car and unwrap the BEST CHICKEN IN NY and...I only got three pieces, two dried out like a pair of old athletic socks you find on the beach and ONE plump, delicious, glorious piece of some damn fine fried chicken! all n all I paid $8 for about $3.85 worth of food. We had all of our family in recently, and brought in two of their $35 combos, each of which included 8 pieces of fried chicken, a whole BBQ chicken and a rack of ribs. We've come here many times over the years. We went this evening for the first time in about a year, and the quality has declined sharply. Even considering that it's Sunday at 6 p.m., this was very disappointing. First, there were no other customers at the deli counter, but the three(!!!) workers talked amongst themselves and kept glancing at me for several minutes before one of them sighed then came to take my order. They were out of the most basic ingredients. The rolls were beyond stale and the salads tasteless, yet an egg salad sandwich cost nearly $7.00. It took forever to get our order. I am so sick of the deli's out here going so far downhill. There's either no qualified help or the workers are not being properly trained, if at all. Every place I go doesn't understand my order, even if it's as simple as cold cuts. If I ask a question or make a special request I get the wrong answer and the wrong order - all at exorbitant prices and terrible food. I can't stress how important it is to have workers that can speak & understand English when their job is to communicate w/ customers! I rarely go to Brent's but I'm on a quest to find a deli that makes a great, old-fashioned Italian deli hero. At this point I'd settle for an "acceptable". I got the worst, most insulting one I've ever had early last summer from here (tied w/ Montauk Market/Barnes in Springs). I'm used to things being grossly overpriced but for a GOOD sandwich, I'd overlook it. The girl (along with every other deli worker out here) obviously had no clue what a real Italian should be but not even what a fake one should be. She was done making it in under a minute so I already knew it was going to be wrong. It should take much longer to make a decent $15 hero. When she handed it to me it was SO light, I was alarmed. I foolishly brought it home & unwrapped what was essentially hero bread DRENCHED in cheap, bottled Italian dressing and little else. First off, you shouldn't be using dressing at all. It should be oil & vinegar and you don't completely drench it (especially when there was NO filling). But to use the worst, cheapest kind? I'm not a snob about bottled dressing but this was AWFUL. What am I paying for exactly? FOR THE RECORD: Sesame seed hero, provolone, salami, pepperoni, ham cappy, tomatoes (ALL THIN SLICED), shredded iceberg lettuce, oil & vinegar. Simple! The meat has be a brand like Boar's Head (you can always taste when they use cheap stuff), it should be full and with even amounts of everything. It's not hard guys! Train your workers! It's not just Brent's but they were the worst offender. I'd never order another sandwich there again. Maybe I'll give the grocery store deli's a shot. I don't understand why anyone would go here instead of driving around the corner to IGA. You can get everything you'd get at Bren'ts there, it's a lot better and not as crazy expensive. read more

Brent's is a solid place for a great lunch on the way to or from Montauk. However, brace yourselves: the wait can be a bit excessive if you get it at the wrong time. Parking is also a bit if an issue - you're either secured with a spot or toast, making sure you don't get hit backing out onto 27. The food isn't bad at all though - you can get a nice wrap or girthy sandwich. They're a bit overpriced IMO, but to each his own. read more

This is the place to eat when I am working in Amagansette or Montauk. There is a large selection of hot and cold food and reasonable prices for this area, high most everywhere else. The food is good. Most of the food is prepared ahead of time, but they have a pretty brisk business with all of the contractors, so it doesn't sit around for too long. read more

In happier times I've used their services for my work and personal gatherings. Unfortunately, for the last two years the customer service has declined significantly. The ladies working in the deli department are rude, unprofessional as well as inarticulate. They hang up on you when trying to place an order, they yell when they can't comprehend what is being requested of them. It's awful and the service is down right atrocious. Two weeks ago I stopped in for an order that was placed an hour in advance, when I arrived my order wasn't even in prep. I don't know what is going with the management but something needs to be done about the staff that is now employed at Brent's. We were searching for a quick bite, and the outdoor tables looked inviting so we gave this place a try. Ordered two breakfast egg/sausage wraps which were bigger than expected. Probably could have gotten one and shared, but again we were just looking for a light breakfast. The food was fine and the outdoor tables good. My only real complaint is that the place has no "public restrooms" which seems odd for a place that serves food. read more
