Second trip to London we took the London underground from Heathrow to Holborn all along the Piccadilly line without transferring. 23 stops along the line but we we were seated the entire time carrying day packs and one carry-on luggage each.. The cost was the equivalent of $7 per person. If you are coming from Heathrow airport during rush hour you can take the Heathrow Express directly from the airport too Paddington station. For two people this would be about the same Fare as Uber. And you would still have to get from Paddington station to your central London hotel. In our case we could have taken the Elizabeth Express from Heathrow airport to Tottenham Court road station and walked the mile to our hotel near Holborn underground station. The fair would have been about double that of the London underground. Both of the Heathrow Express and Elizabeth line are more luggage friendly. Compared to the London underground. The London underground has contactless payment. You simply scan your credit card on entry and scan the same credit card on exit. Seats seats are cloth with armrest. People with oversized luggage can put your luggage near the doors in special areas. is not advised during peak hours was standing room only. Unlike New York City most London stations have working escalators making it possible, but not easy, to carry luggage on the trains. Make sure you put your luggage on its side. One person put his luggage on his wheels in the luggage area but the luggage rolled out the entrance on its own at the next stop.

London Underground is certainly cheaper than a taxi or uber, and we had no problems finding room on the trains with our luggage (two people, each with a carry on). Announcements remind you to "mind the gap", and the stations we visited were staffed and welcoming. One even had an inspirational quote up. As expected, some stations are more modern than others since they are utilized more. I loved that I could tap my credit card to get through the gates onto the train, rather than buying a physical card or downloading an app. I wish the DC Metro used this system.

Honestly, that does work well, sort of, considering that you can't jump off the District line to catch the Picadilly line. I've spent a good bit of time here in the past, since it seems that no matter which time I'm flying out of LHR, the train is always going the OTHER way! It's Underground, so it's out of the rain and the cold. There is plenty of seating for waiting. Upstairs is a rather functional and boring building with waiting areas for the bus stations to local places and a good amount of room for dropping off/picking up friends. It might actually be easier to get here, compared to the regular places at the airport! I did spot a taxi stand. There is no step-free access, which can be a challenge if you have heavy luggage. The station is in Zone 6.

It's a nice station that is a bit more "overground" than "underground", meaning that it just doesn't look like a Tube station. Pinner is in Travelcard Zone 5, between North Harrow and Northwood Hills on the Amersham/Chesham branch. Trains from here into London go to Baker Street and sometimes further. There is a staffed ticket booth and automated ticket vending machines as well as the usual ticket barricades and Oyster readers. Surprisingly, this station is completely step-free, which earns it a fourth star in my rating guidelines. Just outside and across the way is a full-size Sainsbury's and a mini-cab taxi office is attached to the station. Note that the Tube does not run all night. There is a last train into London,generally between 12:00-12:30 am on weeknights and 11:30-12:00 on Sunday's.

During peak times,only All Stations or Semi-fast trains stops at Pinner so the frequency is but less compared to Harrow-on-the-hill but not a big issue. If I happen to get a slow train I jump into a fast at Harrow-on-the-hill. The southbound platform has a news agents and also toilet facilities reminding one of how stations were in the past. A good mix of old and new the station is a small two platform one. The main entrance to the station is to the south-bound however the northbound has an exit which is open during peak times which is convenient for me. The station car park is huge and is attached to a large Sainsbury's.

Well, it does have it's own labyrinth, so I guess technically it is a separate station. Also, you…read morehave to touch out if you are crossing from the station across the road, though you sort of have to do that in other stations where you are going from one type of transit to the other (and it probably depends on who actually runs the service). Anyway, the station isn't too bad, and they do happen to have trains coming through here regular, as they do. Mind you, I suspect that the separate stations no doubt go back to the days of privatised rail.

It was a lovely sunny day, a little after 6, and it wasn't crowded nor bumpy. There was a point we cut through neighbourhoods, and it operated on a sort of get-off-where-you-like system. I saw so many cute little areas with pubs and shops I'm dying to visit now!

If there were zero stars I would give them a zero…read more Our cab driver was missing on arrival. He said he was where we were standing but he wasn't. He finally showed up 20 minutes late. Then when we offered him the address to the hotel where we were staying he said he had it in his phone. He drove us for an hour and ended up taking us to a low-rent district looking for our hotel which was a four-star . When he realized his mistake he told us he wouldn't take a credit card from us, cash only and he would charge us an additional £75 to correct his 40-mile mistake. Very poor customer service and idiots for drivers. Avoid at all costs.
