Robert E. Debarth Typewriters does the best quality work anywhere…read more He charges to evaluate the repairs and gives you a quote before any work is done. He is meticulous and he makes sure that any work is done correctly. My Typewriter is now like new. I don't know anywhere else to take my machine but who cares. I don't usually--ever--write "reviews" of businesses, but I felt I needed to say something about…read morethis place. I bought an old Olivetti-Underwood portable on Ebay and it worked quite well for a while, but ultimately, the ribbon return mechanism failed. I brought the machine to the DeBarth store. He charged me $65 for an estimate and then told me I would need to pay an additional $295.00 to have the machine repaired (with no return of estimate costs), for a total of $360.00. When I protested that all I needed was to have the ribbon return mechanism repaired, he gave me a vague answer about a "general servicing" that they "always" perform, and stated that the entire $295 was related to labor costs, with no parts replaced. When I again protested that all I needed or was asking for was a repair of the ribbon return mechanism he launched into a lecture about how difficult it was to keep his business going and how much money it required. I replied that if it were going to cost me $1,000,000 to keep a barber business going, should I then charge my two customers $500,000 each for a haircut? I added that the real reason he could charge me this outrageous fee is that there simply is no other typewriter repair shop anywhere in Pennsylvania or New Jersey (I think the Gramercy shop still exists in New York). In other words, he has his customers by the throat. He replied "Wouldn't you like to have a business that is the only one of its kind?" Finally, the work is only warrantied for 30 days. I leave you to your own conclusions about a place like this.

As I look around my office there are no less than 6 framed pictures they've so masterfully completed. There at least as many at home. They have two locations, one in Philly, and another in my local, Montgomeryville PA. Highly recommend checking them out!

Instead today I get a letter that rent is DOUBLING because my rate is a "promotional rate". I re-read my contract and there is no mention of a promotional rate. But the letter also states this is due to "market forces". It was a promotional rate in the first paragraph but now it's market forces. So this is a bait and switch sorta business. Don't store here if you are picking it because it is cheaper than other locations, they are just trying to trick you into renting a space and then DOUBLE THE PRICE because all your stuff is inside and they figure you won't move it. Bad business practice right there.

12/26/19 **The…read moreworkers I encountered here were ALL professional** I really was pleasantly surprised at the highest level of service. I really enjoyed the lady at the candy counter, the cashiers (all three) were friendly and kind. I love how they will also assist customers in the dressing room if needed! They will get you different sizes and even help with a zipper! This is something to be said for service! You can't get that interpersonal touch from no human contact online. I would love to commend ALL the Boscovs staff at Coventry! WOW JUST WOW! In all the decrepit, decaying stores in Coventry Mall lies Boscovs. I've typically just rushed through to go to Coventry Corners (soon sadly closing) Bath and Body, etc. I always figured their clothing and wares would be overpriced. Im not a "designer" label person I just like to look nice! As in , I can get better from Gabe's. Gabe's quality can be hit and miss. I digress! Wrong wrong! I saw a brand that HSN carries that is really hip, "One world", another brand that I was drawn to was "Ruby Rd" that has a cool ethnic cultural feel that I'm really really into lately. I scored some velvety soft leggings in Juniors that look like watercolors, or maybe the background of Munch's The Scream. I found some others at 3.99, an irresistible Halloween pair for 1.99, and a great pair for St Patrick's with lucky shamrocks aplenty! I did get a super cool cardigan too in ladies department in colors I typically don't wear with oranges, blacks, browns and olives. The price was right! I was elated to see Enstrom's toffee at their very old fashioned candy counter. Something from yesteryear past. Enstrom's are sold on qvc at a much higher price. If you love real butter toffee you MUST taste Enstrom's. 2.99 for a box is unheard of! I think I'm tired of online shopping. I want to touch and try on. Shipping clothes back can be costly. It's a let down too. I think today I'll try Plymouth Meeting Boscovs!

I can understand that it is beyond their control, but I would not shop here unless I have to. I had a gift card and instead of making the trip to the store I ordered items online. I was forced to go back to the store to make the return or pay for shipping, even though it was their error. I was ttold the item they had online was never in stock and should not have been advertised. It really put me off from the store and have 0 plans on shopping there again.
