Authentic Puerto Rican food in central Louisiana-who knew? Detoured here on a recent road trip to visit historical sites in the region. A recent article in a LA mag called Country Roads put this place on our radar. Quaint location in downtown Leesville. Our server was helpful in guiding us in dish selection. We decided to try a popular appetizer and mains featuring pork and beef. Food was tasty. I'm glad I took the detour to have this experience.

The food is a #1. I'll definitely be back - very delicious and fresh. I'll take pictures of the menu next time and remember the name of this plate!

The food was delicious I wish I had more lol. I ordered and the food was ready in less than fifteen minutes. I highly recommend if you're in the area looking for Puerto Rican food

Unique food, and good enough service. Try the beef stew plate, or the tostones rellenos de carne.

Food is not the best flavor and over priced for what it is. Nice friendly atmosphere and great host and waiter

Their bigger kitchen has allowed them to add to their already fabulous menu and the dining area is great! Today I had the "Island Shrimp and Grits" and oh my, they were out of this world; grits were cheesy and buttery and the shrimp were prepared to perfection! I added their jerk sauce, just because I love it! Oh and a friend and I shared a side of their signature corn and today as everyday everything was too notch!! I'm already deciding what I'm gonna order on my next visit! Treat yourself to the best locally owned and authentic food in town! The line was long as we were leaving but everybody in line was chatting and making friends, I brought left overs home and loved see all the smiles on the faces of happy satisfied customers!

That alone made me pull over -- and I'm really glad I did. I ordered the Chicken Burrito, which came fully packed with shredded cheese, creamy Rasta cheese, crispy fries, red onions, fresh cilantro, and a side of zesty jerk sauce. This burrito was loaded -- seriously generous -- and the flavor was absolutely on point. The jerk sauce added just the right kick without overpowering anything. My only small complaint is that it had a bit too much cheese for my taste. Even after trying to remove some, it was still pretty cheesy. But the overall flavor held strong, and it was still very enjoyable and extremely filling. I actually got two full meals out of this one burrito, which makes it a great value. I also tried the Rasta Pasta, and just like the burrito, my one minor critique is the amount of cheese -- a little heavy for me personally ( i was able to take some of it off) . But the pasta itself was delicious, and the portion size was solid. I also had the Island Punch, it was okay. Personally I would not order it again. What really stood out, though, was the staff. They were awesome -- friendly, welcoming, and genuinely made the experience better. Honestly, even if the food hadn't been good, I'd come back because of them. Luckily, the food is good, so it's a win all around.

Upon being seated, guests are presented with a simple yet genuinely authentic menu. The flavors remain consistently exceptional, a quality I believe is essential for any restaurant hoping to thrive in Alexandria. Caro's is far from the typical, run-of-the-mill Mexican restaurant where meals are hastily assembled from a hot line and served with an inflated price tag. Instead, each dish reflects care, authenticity, and craftsmanship. Complementing the cuisine, the staff and atmosphere provide an added layer of warmth and charm. The establishment also features a small shop offering imported goods, further enhancing the overall experience. I strive for honesty and objectivity in my reviews, and I rarely award a full five stars. However, Caro's is an exception. This assessment is not based on a handful of visits but on years of consistently outstanding dining experiences. If I were to choose a single word to describe Caro's, it would be authentic. This restaurant exemplifies what true, heartfelt Mexican cuisine should be.

When my husband went up to order, he tried pointing at the menu (since it's large and easier that way), but the person wasn't accepting. He was only doing that to avoid mispronouncing anything, especially after I had just been corrected somewhat abruptly on pronunciation when I asked about an item. It made the interaction feel a bit uncomfortable. We went around 2-3, thinking it might be a quieter time since we were coming in with an infant (which is new for us), but it actually started getting pretty busy. They do have some baby/car seat accommodations, which was helpful, but the dining area itself isn't very spacious; there wasn't much room for a stroller. Overall, the food was great, and we'd still return if we were in the area again to try more items, but the customer service and space could definitely use some improvement.

When Patacon came up on my list I was ecstatic. We are Venezuelan/Colombian so finding our traditional food is always wonderful, especially after my celiac diagnosis. It was already 7pm so we had to take our food to go, but the restaurant is very clean inside and welcoming. The family who runs it are super nice and gave us lots of tips for our trips and made us want to go back. We ordered the reina pepiada and brisket arepas and we were in heaven. We have a lot of arepa places back in South Florida and my mom (who is super picky and hard to please) said the places we frequent should go to Patacon and learn from them! Gluten free review: happy to report, no issues with gluten for me having the reina pepiada! I asked about ingredients before ordering and it was a fit for me. ¡Gracias por todo al equipo Patacon! Hicieron nuestra parada super amena y deliciosa.
