To add to the great day, the sail starts and ends at the Deep Creek Restaurant on the Magothy River. To judge by the crowd, their Sunday Brunch is popular. We opted to take snacks on the sail and eat afterward on the patio. Everything was very good! Calamari was especially good. If you travel to Annapolis from west of DC through town, you will be happy to know the route is now fixed! The southwest freeway to 695 then to 295 north is open and marked! This is a really big deal! I'm a native, and this route has been broken all my life. In summary, a great day on the water! And an adventure to remember with cool pictures, no bruises, and good food!

I was looking for something fun and different to do to celebrate my wife's birthday. She has…read morealways had an affinity for sailing, so I began looking for something on the water. I found the Moon Shadow website and decided to book a trip. We brought mother couple, so there were four of us, along with Captain Glen and his wife Seray for our 2.5 hour cruise. The Moon Shadow is a beautiful, well-maintained sailboat. Our hosts made us feel very welcome. Glen helped us carry the food and beverages we brought along from the gate of the marina to the dock and let us use the small refrigerator in the galley. I was invited to connect my phone to Moon Shadow's sound system by Bluetooth, so was able to play my own music for the whole cruise. We lucked out and had perfect weather- clear skies, sunshine, and a nice breeze to keep us moving. We got going pretty good for a while. Glen and Seray were nice people, friendly, knowledgeable, and interesting to talk to. Bottom line is all four of us had a great time and plan to make this an annual event!

We discussed and practiced virtually everything in the textbook over the course of the three days, and any time one of us in the course needed to work on something longer, he made time. When I booked the course, I was a little worried that between the low prices and the dated website, maybe this wasn't going to be a stellar experience. I was completely wrong; the course was absolutely top-notch. Capt. Dave's wealth of experience was exactly what we wanted; he's sailed virtually every kind of boat in all kinds of weather all over the world, and that makes for an outstanding resource.

The weather was extremely hot, but the water was really calm so we mostly laid out. I did get motion sickness for about half of the trip so I would advise students to take Dramamine before the go. Our instructor Jeff was very knowledgeable and friendly. He answered all of our questions and had great tips and fun stories. Our day of sailing was fairly brief and he allowed us to do various task like steering the wheel, raising the sails, etc.. Its a good experience for beginners but might be a little boring for the advance.
