The 101 course is great for newbies; the instructors are all highly experienced yet very patient with beginners, you'll have a great time for sure! Since I love cooking, I'm going to use the Scoville scale to compare 101 and 103. If 101 is just a mild bell pepper, then 103 is a jalapeño. Don't take it unless you're ready for a true sailing boot camp! It will kick your ass, especially if you've just come from 101, but you're going to learn A LOT that you can then take with you to digest and practice. You're going to be overloaded with a LOT of information, but just take some time at the end of each day to decompress and process what you've learned and you'll do fine. They are all very passionate about the art of sailing and push you hard to be the best sailor you can be. Def a great experience!!!

Carrie and Steve were welcoming, knowledgeable, patient, and courteous with all the students. If my experience at the school had ended with them this would be a five star review. Regrettably it was not.The the class I attended fell on three windless days, which meant the sailing portion had to be deferred to a makeup class a month later. Now this is where my story takes an unfortunate turn. The day of the make up class I arrived at the school exhausted and lost in a mental fog do to a medical condition I do not feel like discussing here. I am a veteran with a 100% disability rating, I am sure you can figure out what my problem may have been. I promptly informed the instructors that I was having serious health issues at the time and they agreed I should sit out the class and suggested I return the next day if I happened to feel better. I left believing the school would work with me, since I had prepaid for two classes (ASA 101 and ASA 103). Unfortunately, the scheduling staff did not share the same views or concerns as the instructors when I called the next business day. When they finally agreed to place me in another ASA 101 class (so they wouldn't have to adjust the ASA 103 course I had already paid for), I was told during that final phone call: "There is a caveat -- you feeling sick or not well is not an excuse for missing a class." Let that sink in: "feeling sick or not well is not an excuse for missing a class." I don't think a more tone deaf statement could be said to someone living with a permanent disability. Now, I may have overreacted -- I admit I had gone four full days without sleeping. But even in my altered state, I knew that my health and safety, as well as that of every student, should be the school's top priority. Their response made me feel like nothing more than an inconvenience -- a monetary transaction that had gone wrong. Living with a disability is not a choice, and it is not something I can control. Disgusted by their attitude, I rejected the offer for yet another makeup class. For my troubles I received a partial refund on ASA 103, I kept the course book and plan to teach myself. The money I had intended to spend on additional courses will now go towards a down payment on a boat that I will be able enjoy at my own pace. This was my experience with the Annapolis Sailing School. If you have any health issues or happen to be permanently disabled, as I am, I would strongly suggest looking at other schools in the area. We booked this trip a year in advance and was quoted a price of $1200 for 6 people, and $200 any additional persons. Prior to the fishing trip, I texted the captain several questions to prepare for this trip, he either failed to respond or his response was delayed and lacked clarity. The lack of communication continued before and during the fishing trip. The captain texted me the day before the fishing trip at approximately 7:30 am and told us not to come down to Virginia Beach until we received confirmation from him that evening to ensure the weather was suitable for fishing. I had been checking the weather forecast for several days and it was supposed to be in the 70s, sunny and moderate winds and I conveyed that via text to the captain. What he attempted to do, but failed, is tried to get rid of our group so that he could make more money with another group of 16 versus 7 because the weather the next day was forecasted to be very windy. And the group of 16 was booked to go the day after our trip. When he realized we would not wait until we received confirmation since we were already in route, the captain raised the price to $1800 when he had already quoted us $1200 for the first 6 and $200 for any additional. I'm sure he raised the price to get us to cancel, which we did not do--sorry Captain More importantly, because he had to cancel a bigger group and stick with us, he failed to give us a safety briefing before departure. An epic fail as a Captain. At this point, he could care less about our safety. Money was priority for him. When we returned from the fishing trip, he continued to request more money, only this time, it was for two mates. Everything should have been all worked out before we ever pulled off of the dock. Bottom line, this man lacks integrity, he was rude, and was a male chauvinist. I would not recommend this company for a fishing trip.

There is nothing better than being on the water during a gorgeous sunset and the service he is offering is perfect just for that! He provides cool drinks but you may bring your own food and other beverages of choice. There is also a bluetooth speaker provided to play your own music. His sailboat is very spacious and allows for your guest of six to comfortably be in or on the boat at all times. I didn't want to get off but our time was over. I payed the security deposit and left a note for Peter Wann about how much we were looking foward to the trip . I booked motel rooms and secured the time off from work . We drove down the night before so as not to be late . We were to be at the dock for a 6 am departure . We were at the dock at 5:15 am and ready to assist or what ever. 6 am came and went as did 7am and 8am. Wann did not answer our phone calls or attemp to contact us . My adult son called numerous times and left voicemails. I called but didnt leave voice mails as I knew they would do nothing to change the situation. He did contact my son somewhere around 330pm that afternoon. My son told him he needed to contact me because I was the one that booked the trip . He didnt. I only heard from Wann Sunday night after I left a negitive review on fishing booking.com. ( they later took it down cleaning up for their clients which are the charter owners ) He offered a free trip ,a reduced cost trip , but he was unable to give back the time that he wasted ! I was willing to stop posting the reveiws untill I saw that it was being white washed by fishing booking.com.I had to get the deposit back on my own Wann said alot and I was willing to let it go but re-visiting the fishing booking.com site I beleive this happens more than just this one time. They categorized the bad reveiws as "Trips canceledby captain" .
