We also got the aroma therapy add on for our massage and we had the opportunity to pick between peppermint and lavender. We thought that the aromatherapy would be that the whole room would smell like the oils we picked out, however it was just a small smell throughout our massage. My boyfriend only got to smell his scent once, whereas I got to smell it three times throughout our massage. For $15, it didn't feel worth it. Overall, I had a pleasant experience. I would definitely come back but add on more time and choose a different add on!

My massage therapist was COUGHING the ENTIRE time. It only was it disturbing my experience but it was also disturbing my homegirl's experience because we shared a room. I was somewhat excited to have a male therapist due to the strength of males hands but my service was not what I anticipated. It literally felt like he was just rubbing my skin and not massaging or putting any effort into my full body scrub. However, I will say that the products that were used smelled really good, and the place was clean and dainty.

We arrived early this time and they were able to move our appointments up, which was great. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming. I also love that the massage beds are heated so you don't get cold. Afterward, they give you feedback based on what they noticed during your massage. Mine was that I could benefit from stretching more. My only complaint this visit was that there was a guy nearby laughing really loud throughout most of my massage. I could hear him every few minutes, which was pretty distracting when trying to relax. Luckily, I've been here before and know this isn't normally the experience. Overall, I still enjoy coming here and will definitely be back!

It's in a mixed residential and commercial neighborhood on the north side of Washington Avenue. Parking can be competitive there, but The Petite Retreat accommodates clients with private parking, both in its broad driveway and its side parking lot - a nice benefit when you're striving to be on time. The building has been added on to in interesting ways, so the reception area is a divided space. Original art, plus a baby grand with a chandelier over it, add to the atmosphere of relaxed luxe. I was assigned Cheryl as my masseuse. She guided me to a spacious treatment room in back, with massage table at center and a side table bearing an array of carrier oils, essential oils and other potions. Cheryl did an excellent job of giving a thorough massage, while paying special attention to the area where I was experiencing pain. I appreciated her responsive in using pressure that was firm but avoided adding to the pain. Cheryl sent me out the door with a large bottle of special water. Mine did a great job focusing on problem areas. The Thai combination massage was a lovely mix of aromatherapy, pressure point therapy, and stretching. This was comparable to luxury massages we received in Thailand, and we'll definitely be back next time we're in Houston!
