I tend to be long winded at times and I wasn't rushed or cutoff, they listened and heard me while I spoke, which I appreciated. This visit was for my seven year old, so they ensured that all they found, I could see for myself and understood what it all meant. Answered our questions on-site and then gave us time to process the information. . Is that not what we all want in a provider! Again, only our first visit but it was amazing. So now, we have a procedure coming and we'll see how that goes, however, I'm not concerned. Dr. Tahari and hos team seem to have it together. Of note, be prepared to pay for your portion of the visit BEFORE you leave the office. I'm not a huge fan of this practice. I'm of the belief, if you have insurance, the billing should first be sent through the insurance and then send a bill to me for my portion once the insurance advises what my portion is. It is what it is I suppose.

She did a head CT that revealed a deviated septum, and referred me to Dr. Wassmuth. I was quite impressed by the kindness, courtesy, and professionalism when I first visited the office of Capitol Otolaryngology. Dr. Wassmuth examined my nose and suggested balloon sinuplasty with turbinate reduction. After much trepidation, I scheduled the surgery, which is done in-office. The process of fixing my nose didn't take all that long. The anesthesiologist, Dr. Jack Carsner, was excellent, as were all those I met in the operating room. The procedure apparently went off without a hitch, and my husband drove me home where I rested the remainder of the day. Within a day or so I was feeling much better. I am still considered to be recovering after a week, but have already experienced noticeable improvements in my breathing. My husband says my snoring was virtually gone within a day after the procedure. I've had a variety of seemingly-minor health concerns, that when put together, have led to other problems. Snoring, dry mouth, dental issues, and poor sleep quality turned out to have (at least in part) had a common root cause in breathing problems. Hopefully all will improve or resolve before very long. If you have any kind of breathing problems, including snoring and symptoms like dry mouth when you awaken, you may benefit from a visit to Dr. Wassmuth. I highly recommend his medical practice.

Dr. Slaughter has a double board certification in both Otolaryngology and Sleep Medicine, and has over 30 years of experience. He trains other ENT doctors to use his balloon technique. If you have to have deviated septum or sinus surgery, or need help with sleep apnea, I highly recommend this physician for your treatment. He helped develop a minimally invasive technique called balloon sinuplasty. I have heard many horror stories regarding recovery from people who experienced deviated septum surgery in other ENT doctor's offices. I experienced nothing but positivity yesterday. When I arrived for surgery, from the front desk staff who greeted me and checked me in, to every single person I encountered, I felt at peace. The nurses are exceptional, especially Karen, who checked on me in the recovery room, and the nurse who stayed with me after surgery (I don't remember her name). When Karen had me prepped for surgery and walked me into the surgery room, I saw the doctor, the anesthesiologist, and at least 3 nurses, standing in a simi circle around the chair, all smiling at me, as if they were the welcoming committee! It gave me such a feeling of peace, and I knew they were going to take good care of me. Every single encounter was first class and professional. My recovery so far has been excellent, with very little bleeding, no stints in my nostrils, and only mild discomfort. I came in for a very specific concern--a fluid-filled bubble further back in my neck/throat area--and he made no real effort to understand what I was explaining. He briefly looked at my neck, ears, and inside my mouth and immediately declared that everything was "fine." When I tried to explain a second time that the area of concern was not where he was examining, his attitude became worse. He made patronizing remarks such as, "I'm trying to be nice to you," and repeatedly emphasized how long he has been practicing and how "good" he is, instead of actually listening to his patient. He then used an inappropriate analogy about chest pain and cardiology to justify doing nothing, stating there was "nothing he could do" because he didn't find anything wrong. After already making me feel embarrassed for even speaking up, he said, "If it makes you happy, I'll order a CT, but it's going to show there is nothing there." That statement was unprofessional and dismissive. I would not have scheduled an ENT appointment if there were nothing wrong. I know my own body. Instead of being taken seriously, I was talked down to and treated as if my concerns were foolish. Considering I paid a copay, it felt like I paid to be belittled. The experience was unpleasant from the start. The front desk staff was abrupt and rude, with no courtesy--only demands for my name, insurance card, and copay. The visit lasted less than 10 minutes and felt rushed, impersonal, and focused solely on moving patients through rather than providing care. Dr. Zapalac showed no genuine interest in helping or listening. I will never return to this provider and strongly advise others to seek care elsewhere if they expect respect, professionalism, or to be taken seriously.

They were the only Leqvio provider until recently, the staff acts with a sense of entitlement, abusing their monopolistic situation. There is a set schedule I need for the Leqvio infusions, but the staff refuses to schedule in advance, does not return my phone calls, and acts with extreme rudeness every time I call. Due to their inability to work with any degree of professionalism, I had to restart my program again. Thankfully, there are other facilities in Austin that provide Leqvio infusions.

UPDATE: We took our son to a local urgent care after River ENT refused to revisit the unresolved…read moreissue without additional charges, and they confirmed he has an outer ear infection and prescribed medicated ear drops. --- Dr. Wu removed my son's ear tubes in December 2025. At the time, she recommended a fat graft myringoplasty to ensure the holes left by the tubes would close. We declined the fat graft myringoplasty to see if the holes could close on their own, because we wanted to avoid adding additional time that he would be under general anesthesia. Fast forward to June 2026: My son was doing swim team for a few weeks with no issues. Then, on June 15, he began complaining about pain in one of his ears. Since we started seeing Dr. Wu, we had moved to the San Antonio area, but decided to drive back to Austin for her to check the pain in his ear and whether the holes from the tubes had closed, since she's the one who had removed his ear tubes. River ENT required us to do a hearing test, which was fine. Afterwards, Dr. Wu quickly glanced in his ears and said they looked good. I asked whether the holes from the tubes had closed, and she responded with something like, "Oh yeah, I always knew they would close on their own, because the tubes were resting near the top of the eardrum" (which conflicted with her recommendation to do the fat graft myringoplasty). When I asked what would be causing the pain in his left ear, and expressed concern because it was unlike him to complain of ear pain, she said nothing was wrong, but maybe he had swum too deep or "bruised" it from jumping in the water to swim. I asked if she was sure, because I was worried about swimmer's ear, and she brushed me off without taking another look, and said if there were a swimmer's ear infection, I would be able to see it by looking in his ear without an otoscope (an internet search says "swimmer's ear (otitis externa) often starts localized to a small area before spreading"). Dr. Wu did not take another look in his painful ear and instead said that being able to detect an ear infection with an otoscope takes years of training. We left the office without any answers or medicine. My son continued to complain about the pain in his ear, so my husband and I found the otoscope we had packed in a moving box (from when he was having frequent ear infections before ear tubes), and we each looked in his ear nine days after the appointment with Dr. Wu. Both my husband and I observed a cluster of pustules in his ear canal outside the ear drum. Upon reading more online, we discovered that these pustules are likely an infection and unlikely to go away on their own. What's more, leaving them untreated could cause the infection to spread to surrounding tissues and even cause permanent hearing loss. I called Dr. Wu's office and asked if someone could take another look in his ear, because he has continued to complain of pain, and it appears that an infection was likely missed at our June 17 appointment. River ENT said they could get us in to see a different doctor in two days, but we would be paying for another doctor appointment in full. They would not take accountability for their mistake, and they had zero care that we would need to drive two hours to Austin and two hours back to San Antonio, in order to have the issue resolved, as it should have been with the first visit. The office manager also made a comment like, "Well, I'm not a doctor, like you apparently are," rather than acknowledging that I was simply asking for a doctor to take another look. It feels like River ENT prioritizes profit over responsible care of patients. I would NOT recommend River ENT.

I've been his patient since June 2025, and he performed my surgery in August 2025, guiding me through a complex and evolving diagnosis that ultimately led me to continue care at MD Anderson.
