I went to Dr Slaughter for sinus and allergy problems. I was amazed by the Dr and the entire team. They were able to determine all allergies I suffer from and prescribed drops that will cure me of them in time. For my sinus problem it looked like I would need procedures done but they but me on a nasal spray for a few months. NOTE: Dr. Slaughter's office has two Yelp pages (one has more favorable reviews) so make sure you check BOTH. TLDR: Dr. Slaughter caused external valve collapse and a pollybeak deformity, I have to pay $10k+ to fix his mistakes, his scheduling manager doesn't care about HIPAA, and my post-surgical concerns were ignored. Details: In 2007, I had nasal surgery after a car accident and needed grafting for structural support. Dr. Slaughter's partner (at the time) performed the surgery. My nose started to shift 17 years later and my breathing was compromised. Since Slaughter knew his former partner's techniques, I thought he'd be my best option for a functional revision. In 2023, I went to Dr. Slaughter and reviewed my prior surgery with him. I explained that I had difficulty breathing, frequent sinus headaches, my nose was "S shaped," and my nostrils were different sizes. I inquired about grafting for structural support and Slaughter informed me that he "doesn't believe in grafting." He also commented that he didn't think my tip looked natural and he "wasn't a fan of that style." I loved the tip of my nose so his commentary was unwelcome and unnecessary. Dr. Slaughter recommended a septoplasty, turbinate reduction, and balloon sinuplasty. He said the septoplasty wouldn't fix the external twisting and that was considered cosmetic surgery. I agreed to a septo/rhinoplasty and I made it clear to Slaughter that I only wanted the curvature and nostril fixed cosmetically. I didn't want him to touch my tip or widen my nose. He made no indication that this would be an issue. During scheduling, his scheduling manager came to the waiting room and had a very loud conversation w/me in front of other patients. She wouldn't listen to me when I told her I have no insurance deductible and told me, "We can't give you an estimate for your surgeries because your deductible will reset soon"... ignoring that I don't have a deductible. Then she said "Cosmetic rhinoplasties aren't covered by insurance"... which I wasn't even disputing. So, not only did the waiting room now know I'm having multiple surgeries, they also knew I was undergoing "cosmetic" surgery. I felt humiliated but I paid the $5k out of pocket and scheduled surgery. A few months after surgery, my breathing didn't improve and I developed a severe nasal valve collapse. My nose also appeared much wider when I smiled and my tip was bulbous/misshapen. I was told this was just due to swelling but, when the swelling subsided, the issues were still present. Slaughter recommended the VivAer procedure for the new valve collapse. My insurance would not cover VivAer but, since the first surgery was performed by his former partner and since his revision failed, he performed the VivAer procedure free of charge. While I appreciated the kind gesture, VivAer did nothing for me. From then on, I saw Dr. Slaughter for maybe 5 minutes and my concerns were ignored during follow-up appointments. I told his PA, Maria, that, in addition to the collapse, I was dissatisfied with the aesthetic results because: (1) My side profiles look like two different people, (2) a suture caused scar that looks like a permanent booger, (3) my nostrils are still uneven, and (4) my nose is wider. Despite me voicing my concerns, my chart says, "excellent initial result with a nicely healing incision and a symmetrical result." The only thing that was accurately noted is that I now had major valve collapse and still couldn't breathe. Eventually, I gave up trying to get a resolution from his office because I was made to feel like I was making a big deal out of nothing. After 2+ years of sinus infections, struggling to breathe, and dealing with the surgical failure, I decided to schedule a consultation with another ENT who is highly regarded in the Austin area. I was told that Slaughter removed too much cartilage and did not create a support structure for my nose... despite me specifically asking him about grafting and structural support. A second ENT confirmed this surgeon's findings. So, my breathing is worse than it was before surgery and my altered appearance (that I despise) was completely unnecessary. I would've NEVER spent thousands of dollars had I known that Slaughter was going to do the exact opposite of what I needed. And, now that I know insurance would have paid for a FUNCTIONAL revision rhinoplasty (for structural support), I'm annoyed that I spent thousands on this failure. The structure is so bad I'm able to completely flatten my nose against the side of my face (see photo). I don't know how any surgeon can see this and support their work. He might be good at straightening a septum and cleaning out nasal passages but that's about it. If you're looking for anything more than a septoplasty, go somewhere else. I wish I did. read more

PSYCHOLOGICALLY DAMAGING CRUEL DOCTOR. PLEASE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE Dr. Slaughter caused me PSYCHOLOGICAL DAMAGE I'm trying to recover from. Originally I went for a sinoplasty and turbinate surgery in may 2024, and it turned out to help. But the follow up was awful and I didn't get to see the doctor at any point after my first visit even tho I had a bad recovery from it and they wanted to see me for a second follow up I still didn't see Dr. Slaughter. Fast forward to yesterday. I had been experiencing vocal cord pain that wasn't strep and as a professional singer that is scary. I went in because he was my ENT before and I figured I'd go to the same one. He never once came in to see me. They told me they planned to do something where they shove a camera up my nose and into my vocal cords to check. They didnt do this but instead they put it in my mouth. The camera took a video (which I included a picture of what they showed me because they wouldn't send me any information about what was going on in my throat for some reason). After they took the video I figured that Dr slaughter would come in to detail that I had something in my throat but it was minor. Instead the PA came back in and told me I had 2 unidentifiable growths on top of my vocal cords that they needed to remove to ensure they weren't cancerous. I asked if they were just polyps (which I know can be somewhat normal) but she said no, and that they needed to remove the growths as soon as possible to check for disease aka throat cancer. So at this point I'm freaking out because I turned 35 a few days ago and having cancer at this age is horrible and abnormal. I'm also confused why Dr. slaughter wouldn't be the one to relay this very abnormal and sensitive information. They make me go to the surgery scheduler and it's like the movie where I'm just hearing ringing in my ears and agreeing with everything. I'm alone and scared and sad and traumatized all at the same time. As I'm driving home I have a revelation to get a second opinion. The video was not the best and the PA even go as deep into my throat as she could go. (Ie through my nostrils and they are already jumping to excising a tumor). I call another ENT dr. Chad whited and this office hears me loud and clear and squeezes me in same day. I go to his office and they do the scope through my nose and into my throat. He finds something called a "granuloma" which the name immediately scares me. He tells me not to worry and that it's from vocal cord overuse, and that less than 1% of them are cancerous. He also said I clearly have acid reflux (which I didn't think about it effecting my vocal cords much which seems dumb now). He says that my granuloma needs to be checked on in 2 months but until then do as much vocal rest as I can and basically to only drink water as I take some medication to get my acid reflux in check. I see the 2 dots that Dr. Slaughters PA found which are different from the granuloma, and ask what they are. Dr. Whited says oh don't worry that's mucus. It's... mucus. The "unidentifiable growth" that I had to get surgically removed to test for cancer according to Dr. slaughter... is mucus. I then find out that Dr. Slaughter pulls this type of stunt with multiple patients, overcharging them for things they don't actually need, and is only ever present on the first visit to act like he is present all the time, but he is not. Yesterday going from thinking I was dying of cancer to learning I need to take an over the counter medication and hydrate was easily one of the toughest of my life, and all could have been solved if Dr. Slaughter would have done his job with the right instruments and actually shown up for the appointment I scheduled with him. I forgot the mention they gave me a CT scan of my sinuses that I refused multiple times (because my issue was my throat) then they tried to charge me an extra 150 dollars for it. I was able to get it comped but the front office worker Destiny has the gall to tell me I can refuse anything at anytime. Dr. Slaughter psychological damage I'm trying to recover from. read more

Dr. Slaughter physician assistant David was very helpful and very knowledgeable and he was excellent at managing my problem. I was there for a follow up visit for the sinus infection I had last month. He said that I did good by getting on antibiotics and an antibiotic/ steroid compou nasa spray as well as a medrol dose pack. Had the sinuplasty/deviated septum and turbinator reduction done by Dr. Slaughter. This is day 2 of recovery and things are going fairly well. Slight discomfort for 1-2 days but definite improvement today. Office staff is very efficient - well oiled machine! Can highly recommend Dr. Slaughter. read more

These are true professionals. Everyone there takes pride in what they do and actually listens to the patient. Dr. Slaughter has a couple of habits that really work well: 1) The way he walks you through your diagnosis and options is great. You feel like a partner in the relationship, not just the person having something done to you. 2) If you take an audible breath in while Dr. Slaughter is talking he will immediately pause and ask if you have a question. Other doctors should go to him and his staff to figure out how to run a medical practice where the patient walks away feeling empowered. read more

It funny I get response from the manager saying basically I m lying and your drops only 140$. You charged 504$ for one bottle for 3 months and I ordered 2 bottles. You also told me I should have notified you with a month. And top of it after long insults, sarcasm and rudeness I received from you, only replaced 1 bottle. 2nd bottle you didn't replace!!! You guy forget that there is a thing called billing which I can easily take a screen shot and post here. Wow just wow. I went to see the audiologist Willam Boggess at Sinus and Snoring. I had thought I was enlisting the help of a medical specialist. I considered the hearing aid offering, but decided I would wait, as I don't have problems hearing most things and not ready to spend $4k plus. When I asked the audiologist's opinion on other options with Headsets etc., he had nothing to do with me. Mind you I had only told him 'not right now'. The invitation to call "anytime" evaporated. read more
