Full-size bed. This nightstand is where the cpap would be set up

I visited Advanced Sleep Center in March 2022 to be assessed for a CPAP. Having read the reviews, I was a bit apprehensive. My spouse had had a great experience at a different, similar, business in Round Rock, but that location had shut down. And the businesses left didn't look all that appealing based on the reviews. Thankfully, my experience was a positive one. I arrived at 830pm and entered the very small lobby. Within seconds, a young man greeted me and lead me down a narrow hall to my room. The room was small with a full size bed, two nightstands, one table lamp, and one chair. The chair was the kind of uncomfortable, cheap waiting room chairs with the worn seat and metal arms. Utilitarian and functional. I asked if I should change into my evening clothes, but the young man said no, to wait for the tech. He left, leaving a very short questionnaire on a clipboard and pen, and closing the door. I proceeded to set up the room to my liking. The bathroom was exceedingly small. About two-and-a-half times the size of an airline bathroom. There was barely any space to put my toothbrush, toothpaste, and hairbrush. If you're a female who needs more than that in a restroom for self-care, there is simply nowhere to put it. They could use a simple narrow shelf in this room to the left or right of the mirror. The tech assistant came in around 9p to check on me and collect the questionnaire. Recognizing they were very busy and that could play to my advantage, I invited and encouraged them to allow me to be the last setup of the night. The tech assistant seemed happy to hear that. I confirmed that I could change into my evening clothes. The tech assistant turned off the overhead light, leaving simply the table lamp light on. When this tech assistant left, I changed into the clothes I would sleep in. I crawled into bed. Actually, at first I flopped-sat on the bed and discovered it moved very easily. Whoops! The bed is on rollers, making it easy to move. I pulled the bed back where it belonged and crawled in more carefully after that.. Thankfully, the bed was comfortable. The pillows were a bit hard. While not horribly hard or firm, they did make me regret not bringing my own pillows. More on that in moment. Having invited them to keep me last, I knew I would have a long period of time to allow me to wind down. It was now around 915pm. I had time to do everything I would at home - use restroom, play stupid game on cell phone, play stupid game on iPad while listening to a bedtime story on my app. By the time the technician came in at 1030p, I was barely awake. The technician was polite and friendly. Not in an effusive sort of way. Rather, she had the perfect calm energy levels. She was really good at what she does. She explained just enough, but didn't saturate in information. She welcomed questions and answered in everyday terms without dumbing down the answer. For anyone interested in Health at Every Size practicionaires, I cant say for sure that the technician was certified, but I can say that her statements and methods allowed me to be extremely comfortable with her. She was *great*. It took her about 30 minutes to get me all set up. She was efficient, but didn't seem rushed. She mentioned, as a one off, that she could bring me a water, a fan, etc, should I need it. I Immediately pounced on the fan. The room had felt stuffy to me, but then, I was used to sleeping with a fan on. She had one brought in, set it up perfectly for me and left me to sleep Remember those pillows I had mentioned earlier? Well, this is where they really come into play. Because of their firmness plus the thickness of the cpap headband, my head did feel uncomfortable on the pillows. I wished for my soft pillows at home, which would have conformed more to the shapes involved. In the morning, I was awakened at 515am. She got me all unplugged from the system. I asked if I could wait in the room for my husband to arrive to pick me up, but that is NOT an option. So, after getting ready, off to the tiny waiting room I went. So, overall, my experience was a positive one and I can recommend it. The facility isn't as fabulous as the one my husband went to, where the rooms felt like more of hotel rooms and the bathrooms had space. That said, it was certainly comfortable enough, incredibly efficient, and the tech is an asset to the company and fantastic for her patients. The bathroom could use a small narrow shelf as there was barely any place to put simple toiletries.

She did a head CT that revealed a deviated septum, and referred me to Dr. Wassmuth. I was quite impressed by the kindness, courtesy, and professionalism when I first visited the office of Capitol Otolaryngology. Dr. Wassmuth examined my nose and suggested balloon sinuplasty with turbinate reduction. After much trepidation, I scheduled the surgery, which is done in-office. The process of fixing my nose didn't take all that long. The anesthesiologist, Dr. Jack Carsner, was excellent, as were all those I met in the operating room. The procedure apparently went off without a hitch, and my husband drove me home where I rested the remainder of the day. Within a day or so I was feeling much better. I am still considered to be recovering after a week, but have already experienced noticeable improvements in my breathing. My husband says my snoring was virtually gone within a day after the procedure. I've had a variety of seemingly-minor health concerns, that when put together, have led to other problems. Snoring, dry mouth, dental issues, and poor sleep quality turned out to have (at least in part) had a common root cause in breathing problems. Hopefully all will improve or resolve before very long. If you have any kind of breathing problems, including snoring and symptoms like dry mouth when you awaken, you may benefit from a visit to Dr. Wassmuth. I highly recommend his medical practice.

Originally I went for a sinoplasty and turbinate surgery in may 2024, and it turned out to help. But the follow up was awful and I didn't get to see the doctor at any point after my first visit even tho I had a bad recovery from it and they wanted to see me for a second follow up I still didn't see Dr. Slaughter. Fast forward to yesterday. I had been experiencing vocal cord pain that wasn't strep and as a professional singer that is scary. I went in because he was my ENT before and I figured I'd go to the same one. He never once came in to see me. They told me they planned to do something where they shove a camera up my nose and into my vocal cords to check. They didnt do this but instead they put it in my mouth. The camera took a video (which I included a picture of what they showed me because they wouldn't send me any information about what was going on in my throat for some reason). After they took the video I figured that Dr slaughter would come in to detail that I had something in my throat but it was minor. Instead the PA came back in and told me I had 2 unidentifiable growths on top of my vocal cords that they needed to remove to ensure they weren't cancerous. I asked if they were just polyps (which I know can be somewhat normal) but she said no, and that they needed to remove the growths as soon as possible to check for disease aka throat cancer. So at this point I'm freaking out because I turned 35 a few days ago and having cancer at this age is horrible and abnormal. I'm also confused why Dr. slaughter wouldn't be the one to relay this very abnormal and sensitive information. They make me go to the surgery scheduler and it's like the movie where I'm just hearing ringing in my ears and agreeing with everything. I'm alone and scared and sad and traumatized all at the same time. As I'm driving home I have a revelation to get a second opinion. The video was not the best and the PA even go as deep into my throat as she could go. (Ie through my nostrils and they are already jumping to excising a tumor). I call another ENT dr. Chad whited and this office hears me loud and clear and squeezes me in same day. I go to his office and they do the scope through my nose and into my throat. He finds something called a "granuloma" which the name immediately scares me. He tells me not to worry and that it's from vocal cord overuse, and that less than 1% of them are cancerous. He also said I clearly have acid reflux (which I didn't think about it effecting my vocal cords much which seems dumb now). He says that my granuloma needs to be checked on in 2 months but until then do as much vocal rest as I can and basically to only drink water as I take some medication to get my acid reflux in check. I see the 2 dots that Dr. Slaughters PA found which are different from the granuloma, and ask what they are. Dr. Whited says oh don't worry that's mucus. It's... mucus. The "unidentifiable growth" that I had to get surgically removed to test for cancer according to Dr. slaughter... is mucus. I then find out that Dr. Slaughter pulls this type of stunt with multiple patients, overcharging them for things they don't actually need, and is only ever present on the first visit to act like he is present all the time, but he is not. Yesterday going from thinking I was dying of cancer to learning I need to take an over the counter medication and hydrate was easily one of the toughest of my life, and all could have been solved if Dr. Slaughter would have done his job with the right instruments and actually shown up for the appointment I scheduled with him. I forgot the mention they gave me a CT scan of my sinuses that I refused multiple times (because my issue was my throat) then they tried to charge me an extra 150 dollars for it. I was able to get it comped but the front office worker Destiny has the gall to tell me I can refuse anything at anytime. Dr. Slaughter psychological damage I'm trying to recover from.

I am incredibly tired of the way that doctors in this country handle patients…read more I was diagnosed by Dr. Emerson with Sleep Apnea several years ago. I am using the sleep apnea CPAP machine that was prescribed. Recently I needed supplies. I did not need anything that is incredibly serious, just a new nasal pillow and a filter for the machine. I was told by my local supplier of CPAP gear that they would need to call Emerson's office for a new prescription to be able to sell me the supplies that I need. I received a call back from Home Point medical supply telling me that Dr. Emerson's office refused to refill the prescription without seeing me in person. My condition has not changed, I use the same equipment that I have had for the past few years and the only reason that I can think of that they would want to "See me" is so that they can charge me a specialist fee, have me wait an hour to see a doctor who will then write a script allowing me to get a 2 ounce filter and a small nasal pillow. I called and spoke to a nurse at Dr. Emerson's office who told me it was an "Insurance Rule" that I had to come in to see them again. I told her "I do not have insurance". She stammered and then said... "OK well its also dr. Emerson's rule".... This is just a money grab by a greedy doctor who certainly could stand to up his customer service. I wasn't asking for drugs.. From the very beginning of my contact with his office to schedule an appointment I was impressed. The contact with his nurse as I arrived for my appointment was very positive. When Dr. Emerson entered the exam room, he introduced himself in a pleasant manner, took a seat on his stool, backed himself against the desk and wall in a comfortable manner and asked me, what's going on. He listened to me, asking for clarification when necessary and then he began to ask his questions and took down a very thorough history of my medical complaints. After spending some time discussing and clarifying, he arranged for me to be tested for lung functions. Hi staff was very knowledgeable, caring and very patient as I progressed through the test procedures. Upon completion we went back to the exam roo nm and in a few minutes the doc comes in, gets comfortable and spend a significant amount of time discussing the results and his recommendations. I then made arrangements with his scheduler for further appointments. All in all, a very productive and friendly visit with a very knowledgeable Dr. and staff. I debated a 5 level rating, but will wait until my next visit to make certain that I feel 5 is truly justified. I was very impressed with my visit and would highly recommend Dr. Emerson to anyone needing pulmonologist.
