Jill was unwilling to file an insurance claim for me - stating it would not be worthwhile since I had already received medical equipment within the last 5 years, She said she would call back in a couple days...never did. Until she inadvertently left me a VM for another patient - a message that had enough identifying information that I could have confidently tracked this patient down. HIPPA violation. Jill then calls me back happy as a clam and says "oops, sorry, left you a vm for another patient. Anyway, wanted to see how I could help." She's had more than 2+ weeks to help, didn't want to, then shares private information about another patient on my phone. What a train wreck of a business model. Would rather cash pay for my medical equipment than buy through this mirage of a business. read more

Update: so the billing manager (he was very professional) called and rectified the situation. I was able to get my machine. When I went to the office to pick up the APAP machine, the technician that explained how to utilize the machine was very patient and helpful. I believe his name was Tedo. He made sure my mask was the right size and comfortable. He even called the next day to check on me and the experience. I would definitely recommend this location! I visited Advanced Sleep Center in March 2022 to be assessed for a CPAP. Having read the reviews, I was a bit apprehensive. My spouse had had a great experience at a different, similar, business in Round Rock, but that location had shut down. And the businesses left didn't look all that appealing based on the reviews. Thankfully, my experience was a positive one. I arrived at 830pm and entered the very small lobby. Within seconds, a young man greeted me and lead me down a narrow hall to my room. The room was small with a full size bed, two nightstands, one table lamp, and one chair. The chair was the kind of uncomfortable, cheap waiting room chairs with the worn seat and metal arms. Utilitarian and functional. I asked if I should change into my evening clothes, but the young man said no, to wait for the tech. He left, leaving a very short questionnaire on a clipboard and pen, and closing the door. I proceeded to set up the room to my liking. The bathroom was exceedingly small. About two-and-a-half times the size of an airline bathroom. There was barely any space to put my toothbrush, toothpaste, and hairbrush. If you're a female who needs more than that in a restroom for self-care, there is simply nowhere to put it. They could use a simple narrow shelf in this room to the left or right of the mirror. The tech assistant came in around 9p to check on me and collect the questionnaire. Recognizing they were very busy and that could play to my advantage, I invited and encouraged them to allow me to be the last setup of the night. The tech assistant seemed happy to hear that. I confirmed that I could change into my evening clothes. The tech assistant turned off the overhead light, leaving simply the table lamp light on. When this tech assistant left, I changed into the clothes I would sleep in. I crawled into bed. Actually, at first I flopped-sat on the bed and discovered it moved very easily. Whoops! The bed is on rollers, making it easy to move. I pulled the bed back where it belonged and crawled in more carefully after that.. Thankfully, the bed was comfortable. The pillows were a bit hard. While not horribly hard or firm, they did make me regret not bringing my own pillows. More on that in moment. Having invited them to keep me last, I knew I would have a long period of time to allow me to wind down. It was now around 915pm. I had time to do everything I would at home - use restroom, play stupid game on cell phone, play stupid game on iPad while listening to a bedtime story on my app. By the time the technician came in at 1030p, I was barely awake. The technician was polite and friendly. Not in an effusive sort of way. Rather, she had the perfect calm energy levels. She was really good at what she does. She explained just enough, but didn't saturate in information. She welcomed questions and answered in everyday terms without dumbing down the answer. For anyone interested in Health at Every Size practicionaires, I cant say for sure that the technician was certified, but I can say that her statements and methods allowed me to be extremely comfortable with her. She was *great*. It took her about 30 minutes to get me all set up. She was efficient, but didn't seem rushed. She mentioned, as a one off, that she could bring me a water, a fan, etc, should I need it. I Immediately pounced on the fan. The room had felt stuffy to me, but then, I was used to sleeping with a fan on. She had one brought in, set it up perfectly for me and left me to sleep Remember those pillows I had mentioned earlier? Well, this is where they really come into play. Because of their firmness plus the thickness of the cpap headband, my head did feel uncomfortable on the pillows. I wished for my soft pillows at home, which would have conformed more to the shapes involved. In the morning, I was awakened at 515am. She got me all unplugged from the system. I asked if I could wait in the room for my husband to arrive to pick me up, but that is NOT an option. So, after getting ready, off to the tiny waiting room I went. So, overall, my experience was a positive one and I can recommend it. The facility isn't as fabulous as the one my husband went to, where the rooms felt like more of hotel rooms and the bathrooms had space. That said, it was certainly comfortable enough, incredibly efficient, and the tech is an asset to the company and fantastic for her patients. They charged me $5200 for an AT HOME sleep study where you drive, pick up some flimsy equipment, wear it at night, bring it back the next day. $5200. That's like $500 an hour to borrow their pulse oximeter and breath measure contraption overnight. How nice to be them. read more

Let's start from the beginning. ... From November of 22 to December of 22 my insurance was pending. I had to call daily to see if I was approved. Finally get approval in January , paid OOP out of pocket for a home study, only to have to do a on site sleep study. I was billed again for the on site study. The results took 14 days to be available. in which time I was calling everyday after the seventh day for my results. Took a long time for insurance to approve. Finally received results but in the meantime I had to call ASC repeatedly to keep up with my case. No call backs. The biggest amidst thing is that the location on Palmer moved to Steck road. I walked into an empty building, with no signage to direct me. All the suites on the first floor were empty. The whole experience screams intuition. Be careful and stay on top of them. read more

This is for the Center on Streck. Bathrooms are not in accord with the ADA. They designed these bathrooms on the cheap with no regard for patients.The toilets should be raised and the bars should be 50+" long. When I was there, it was very difficult for me to get up from the toilet because it was so low and the bar was less than 24 inches long and beside and behind me. The only way I could get up was to turn toward the bar, put both hands on it and PUSH myself up. This was excruciating for a woman with arthritis of the shoulder. I hurt for days afterward. You need to get the bars that have a mast with a bar that can be raised and lowered to allow the bar to cross the door opening and raised. When i complained, the attendant told me she couldn't help me because she hadn't been trained in those techniques which shows me that you knew the bathrooms weren't to ADA standards. This is unconscionable for a medical facility. read more

My pulmonologist referred me to the North Austin location for a CPAP Titration Study after a home sleep study indicated severe sleep apnea. My test was conducted overnight last night. I found the room the be extremely quiet, cozy, comfortable and clean. The bathroom was very small and the water faucet had those handles where you press it and water only comes out for about 5 seconds, but it got the job done. The tech, George, was just awesome -- friendly, funny, professional and he both put me at ease and answered all of my questions. He was also very responsive when I used the bedside button because I needed his help. I had been very anxious about altering my routine for this overnight test and did not expect to sleep well -- however, my body was so grateful for the CPAP (and then BiPAP) help that I actually got a couple more hours of sleep than I normally do at home. My only complaint is with the company's communication skills in seeking insurance approval and scheduling an appointment. The status I got from them for 3 weeks was always the same and always a bit inaccurate. In the long run, it took 4 calls with the company and 4 calls with my insurance company to get it scheduled. I will likely choose to pay out of pocket for my BiPAP machine to avoid that type of hassle in the future, but the main irritation I had really stemmed from poor communication at the Advanced Sleep Center office. Otherwise, I highly recommend this location. read more

Using the Parmer location, This place is god awful, I can't fathom how such a small office is so incredibly disorganized. They ask you to fill out a 11 page questionnaire before seeing your doctor and then never reference it so you're just repeating yourself over and over. It's been 45 days since I first called them and I still do not have any lab results. -Called may 1st, got an appointment on May 9th. -Took them until May 28th to get insurance approval and schedule me for a take home test. -Return the take home test in the AM as instructed. Get a call later that day accusing me (yes, very accusatory tone) of not returning the device. -Spell out "HIPAA" for them in that they have misplaced a digital data storage device containing my personally identifiable health information. -Get a call back in 10 minutes saying they found the device and it will be 5-10 business days until I hear results. -It's currently June 14th, 12 business days since I've returned the device. -Call to check status of my results. Get placed on hold, another person picks the phone up and asks me for my name and number again stating they are understaffed and someone will call me later. I really goofed by going here. read more

They say they have sent my information to the medical equipment company and that they will contact me soon. It has been 3 weeks and they still say the exact same thing every time I call. This place is awful!!! Do not come here. I had inspire and came for a sleep study and they never wrote in my chart I was an inspire patient . I just went to a sleep dr in Dallas and they told me my device has not worked in 6 months! I drove from Dallas to Austin for my sleep study but they couldn't do it!!! I asked to be reimbursed for gas miles and they said they would send me $100. I talked with John 3 times and he keeps promising my 100.00 but it's been one month and nothing !!! horrible after care once they got you hooked into a CPAP. impossible to get through to talk to anyone. they pick up and hang up. out of test supplies so you can't try different masks etc. shuffle do many people through their offices you are just a payment to them. no care for difficult apnea refusing to refer me for an oral appliance when my AHIs can't be regulated with the CPAP. when you have 62 per hour you think the doctor might actually CARE about you. read more

I've had no response at all to the letter I mailed them so here's the information for anyone who might be considering this place. *************************************************************** I cannot express too adamantly my dismay at the shortcomings of your facilities, staff training, test structure, and cleanliness. Each of these problems is readily resolved with a patient-centered focus and/or a trip to Home Depot so I am taking the trouble of listing them for you. Re facilities * Patients can only get staff attention by, literally, sitting up in bed and waving their arms indefinitely. A simple buzzer or Alexa system of some sort is essential. I waved in bed for several minutes, turned on the bed lamp, waved some more, got out bed, waved some more, tried to find some core plug for the leads to avoid pulling them out, pulled off all my leads, used the restroom, walked down the hall, and found the attendant who still had no idea I needed attention! * Patients have no access to temperature control, a factor that certainly impacts sleep. Since expense probably prohibits retrofitting temperature controls for each room, patients need a set of resources to make such adjustments as are possible. A low-noise fan with varying controls and blankets of varying weights are minimally required. Knowing about this situation prior to testing, gives patients an opportunity to pack robes and so on appropriately * Patients have incomplete light control, a matter that the head-leads make impossible to resolve with a sleep mask. Since any substantive changes are likely to be too expensive, a few low-cost changes should help, including overhead lamps with multi-level settings that can be reached easily. The small lights on the can tv be covered with something as simple as index cards for those who need it. * The rooms are not soundproof which means that a neighbor's snoring, television, or the attendant's cell phone conversations can easily disrupt a patient's efforts to sleep. A white noise machine would be of some use. Re staff training * Attendants need to check patients' tv monitor screens frequently. * Staff need to learn how to keep their voices down when they must talk on their phones. Closing that door and speaking from the back of the room in a quiet voice would help. * Heavy use of cologne or perfume should be prohibited, including the morning sessions. * Evening attendants need to know enough about the napping-test schedules to ensure that vital medicines will be available exactly when prescribed. Medication timing can sometimes be adjusted if patients have the opportunity to work with well-informed staff on the matter. It's impossible to plan for daytime medication schedules when nighttime staff have no knowledge about the napping-test procedures. Re test structure * Patients are required to wake up at 5:30 a.m. because it suits the staff schedule. Waking people who must for their jobs or other obligations is certainly appropriate. Waking up everyone, however, is not. The priorities need to be, in this order, sufficiently accurate test data, patient needs, staffing convenience. * The napping-test procedure requires transparency. It might be set based on staffing schedules, patient data, a pre-set pattern, or something else entirely. Nothing is provided or available to inform patients. Re cleanliness * Upon entering the site, patients have no signage directing them to virus-protection resources. * A clean, uncluttered counter should hold a professional sign on contacting the attendant. * Gloves and masks should be clearly offered for patient use. * A statement regarding the company's means of and commitment to addressing virus-protection should be available. * Bathrooms should have soap. * Hand towels need to be newly set out; none should be wrinkled enough to indicate prior use. * Since patients shouldn't be wearing gloves to bed, cleaning wipes should be available for wiping off doorknobs, light switches, and other surfaces that are likely to be touched by patients who rub their faces in the night, get up, and return to bed. * Staff should wear masks at all times. * Staff need to change gloves or use sanitizer in sight of the patients, particularly when handling phones and moving between patients. read more

I am discontinuing use of the CPAP that I have been using since April. I was diagnosed with very mild sleep apnea. The CPAP has done nothing to improve the quality of my nightly sleep. I am trying to return the CPAP to the medical equipment supplier but they require written documentation from Dr. Alward that I have consulted him about discontinuing the use of CPAP. I called his office this morning (11/16/2022) to request the written information from him. He isn't available for a brief telephone call until 1/3/2023! I used the Parmer location. Great experience there, even with Covid. They were great. everyone was nice, and since I'm well above average height, they even managed to arrange the bed so that I would not hang off and could still have a good nights sleep. The medical company they had supply me a Cpap, though... that's a whole different story. I suggest they not do business with THAT company any more. read more

I have been a patient for a couple years now. I called on December 21st to come in to pick up a refill on my equipment as they prefer to schedule these in advance. Person who answered took my information and said they would "do their best" to verify my information but said it probably wouldn't happen before the 1st. Refused to schedule anything. My information is right there in your file. Insurance hasn't changed. After the New Year I plan on looking for a new place. I'm tired of being handed cheap headgear stamped with "For lab use only" and being told to tighten it with clips that poke the back of my head while I sleep. I've asked about other models with a similar style. They always claim this is the only model they carry like that. read more

Would not recommend this place to anyone that is slightly anxious about the cpap mask etc. The first time I went in, I was teamed up with a relatively nice nurse. However, the second time I went in, I was teamed up with a curt nurse who seemed annoyed to answer my questions. The "peak" of the bad experience occurred when I asked what the ventilation vent in the mask was for. She answered, "that's for ventilation-- you do not want to cover that up. If you do, you'll get strangled". When I asked what happens if my pillow/comforter gets stuck in it, she responded, "she would not recommend that" (as if it was my choice?!) and without any forewarning proceeded to demonstrate such a strangulation by blocking the ventilation vent with her hand. Needless to say, I will be changing to another place of care. The second star is for the comfy bed. read more

I just finished my second try at the advanced sleep center . When I say they were literal night and day experiences I mean hell then heaven! My first visit last year was awful. The attendant was cold; knew little about the experience and said she was not going to wasting her time by "hooking' me up if I could NOT use the mask. She shoved masks over my face. The machine was blowing so strong I couldn't breath. I finally pushed her away, crying and called my ride. As I stated earlier, my second visit was heavenly. My tech ... Jewel ...treated me like a queen ... she answered all my questions softly, calmly and thoroughly, putting me at ease from the beginning. Using gentle hands, she affixed all those body wires explaining what info they gave as I asked. She treated me like a "real" person, listening!! All my fears were alleviated. My morning assistant...Patty... helped me sort out my feelings about the experience and set me at ease. In the night experience my calls were answered promptly and curiously. My comfort was their main goal and they fulfilled it to the max. If you are concerned about the sleep study experience like I was, because of the first one, be at ease. This experience was so pleasant, I would recommend it to anyone. I'm older and had much anxiety from the first time, but with the help of Jewel and Patty those fears, and anxiety dissolved and left me with feelings of comfort and calmness. I would go back in a heartbeat now, with caring and kind Tech and morning assistant, Jewel and Patty. Now I am ready to take on that CPAC machine without fear!! read more

Went for an overnight sleep study last night. The tech who checked me in was nice and efficient, but she left after hooking me up because only three of six patients scheduled that night showed up. The room had an unpleasant smell and the bed was so uncomfortable I tossed and turned the entire night due to an aching back and restless leg movements, which I don't have at home. The other tech only tried two types of masks, neither of which felt comfortable or effective. I ended the study at 4:30 am and was glad to get out of there. read more

I thought I was in the right place, but since realized I am in the wrong place. I had a study done on 12/20 and was told need 2nd study for cpap. I have used a cpap for many years and machine broke so was told need to do new study. Referred here by primary care. I was told last week when I called to tell them new insurance effective 1/1/20. They had told me in December that they were trying to get everything done by end of year. I have heard nothing until I called last week. Lady read to me what dr's finding's revealed and it was not good. I still have no second appointment and I have been without my cpap for over a month. I am sleep deprived and depressed and I am no closer to getting the 2ndpart of study or a machine. Buyer Beware. read more

Please do not ever do business with this establishment. They lied to my surgeon and lied to me about attempts to contact me and are attempting now to extort money out of me. They have supposedly attempted to contact me via phone and email but I haven't heard from them in months. They are attempting to pass the buck on their own failing by saying I didn't respond. As a paramedic, I would have to say that I could not in good conscience recommend this group. The office situation is disorganized and it appears that my father received a diagnosis for a CPAP machine with some rather interesting medical justifications to support it's use (as determined by a second opinion). In my father's case, a simple adjustment of a prescription medication was all that was necessary to alleviate his symptoms and restore a normal sleep cycle. So, if you need a CPAP then, by all means, use it EVERY night but also, think about taking your sleep study test results to a trusted health care provider for a second opinion. read more

They did provide me with the home sleep test and the cpap machine but every time I visited I was billed a 30$ copay and later received another bill from Austin Pulmonary Consultants for another 30$. Don't visit unless your doctor won't recommend another source for a sleep center. read more

I did a sleep study here over two years ago and was told I had "mild sleep apnea" and that I needed a c-pap machine as a result. The problem is that it did nothing to solve my problems with sleeping. I met with a doctor there several times about this and the best advice he had was that if I went to bed later, maybe I wouldn't wake up in the middle of the night. Recently ASC gave me at home equipment to confirm I still had sleep apnea and they failed to test it before they gave it to me. It didn't work and I wasted two nights with it. So rather than do anything with these people again, I asked my doctor to refer me to a different sleep study center, Sleep Better Austin. Their overnight sleep study produced much more detailed results and actually identified what was waking me up in the middle of the night. Plus they got me a referrals I wouldn't have to use a c-pap machine any more. I wasted two years feeling I had inadequate rest because of what I just think is incompetence on this company's part. read more

I completed the second half of my split study, at the north location, and again, the Advanced Sleep Center staff was outstanding! Patty explained everything about the CPAP test and I didn't feel like I was suffocating with the mask-on. The room was modern, clean, and quite. I haven't had a good night sleep like that in a long time despite all the wires monitoring my every behavior. I strongly recommend them and sincerely appreciate the caring/professional staff. read more

Customer service and communication is poor, billing staff is rude and inconsistent. My husband has been trying for months to get his equipment but once you finally get them on the phone they have to transfer you to 2-3 different people before someone can do something to helpful.
