I had been told multiple times that recent EKG readings had an abnormality which he only theorized could "not be a big deal" and probably due to my condition. He has a very calm/kind demeanor and gets right to the point/process. Given Dr Lown helps many people with pain management at various locations, don't expect too much chit chat. My first visit, my left index trigger finger was cured! My next visit, my right ring trigger finger was cured with a second injection. I first started with Kristin F (practitioner) when I would make an appointment. I always felt comfortable and she was always helpful, informative, and listened. Every time I walked into that office I am greeted right away and there wasn't a long wait time. Everyone is always smiling and filled with joy. I travel from south austin and I don't plan on changing them unless I move far, far away. lol Now that Dr Alberda is part of the team there is no better doctors office then this one. I have never walked in to a place like this where you get joy, understanding and great knowledge/skills like this office. Even the phlebotomist is a sweetheart with great skills to draw your blood. Its a short visit with her but her pleasantry last beyond that. Every single person of the staff is excellent at their job and they feel like old friends. I've had…read morefamily members be hospitalized here both in the med center and the rehab across the turnaround entrance, and when I come to visit I sometimes pop into the cafeteria to get something before going to see them. They have several parking garages that offer short term parking for free (like 30 min or less), but otherwise unless you have validation, you do have to pay. The spots are kind of small and so are the signs in the parking garage, so pay close attention to make sure you're driving in the right place. Overall though, this is a pretty good med center in my opinion that offers most of the major medical subspecialties you may need for your care. The inpatient rehab is also one of the best in Austin, and they are one of the only facilities that offers a driving test if there's a medical concern for someone's safety re: driving (e.g. in a patient with cognitive impairment/early dementia).

I won't go into long details, but in short, and in no particular order: - the techs doing the shots are highly variable in their abilities. Some are lovely. Most will squeeze the living bejeebus out of your arm (I swear they leave more bruises than the needles themselves) and then wonder why you're flinching. PLEASE give better training. - the techs assume you magically know your schedule and doses of shots. They'll change your schedule and just assume that you know it, based on the color of your vial. Communication ... not so great. - Dr. Cooke was specifically recommended to me for being super detail oriented. Hmm? I had an actual near-death experience with drywall dust that he was super dismissive of, but thankfully I found a pulmonologist who was extremely helpful and understanding. He showed zero knowledge about air filtration, which seems important for reducing allergies. And the appointments are honestly so weird and creepy, looking at the color of my snot on random appointment days and touching all over my face with bare hands. - nobody answers voicemails - cool! I was traveling for 3 months and was proactive to discuss this with several people before going, since it would put a pause in my shots. Every person I spoke to gave different advice and didn't even follow their own guidance. They ordered my new vials two months early. There's just zero consistency or communication, which is stressful. - the waiting room is typically a disaster. People on their phones, watching videos with the volume turned up, sneezing and coughing galore with nobody bothering to wear masks... it's gross. I prefer to sit on the floor in the hallway to find peace and quiet, since nobody cares to make this room a nice atmosphere while you're waiting for shots and held for 30 minutes after. Since I've been a patient so long I feel trapped here, since I assume changing clinics would mean I need to start over. And I do like two of the shot-techs, out of the maybe 15 I have seen. But to know I will dread an hour a month to come here for shots, plus icky and unhelpful appointments... this is simply not a nice place.

The appointment (that I also paid for) was USELESS without the results of his allergy tests. He was there for one reason only --ALLERGIES! no test results = useless. I've tried to rebook his test but no one answers the phone; the voicemail isn't activated and no return calls. No online way to be in touch either. Great doctor in an absolute joke of a practice. I had a CT scan with contrast that was all clear minus a very small ovarian cyst. He advised me that no other type of scan would help and that there is nothing a CT scan with contrast could have missed that's related to my symptoms. He also said sometimes he wishes he could fake symptoms to get scans so he could rule out anything serious. That made me tear up and I told him that I am not faking symptoms to get scans - he immediately said he wasn't implying that. Just that I'm lucky to know it's not cancer or something more serious. My father has stage 3 colon cancer , my best friend has breast cancer, my work supervisor and friend"s mom has stage 4 brain cancer - so yes, I agree it's great a CT scan did not show any signs of that. Said I should come back if this gets worse (I went to see him because it was getting worse and my PCP had told me maybe I just needed a vacation). As any parent of a kid like mine knows , we don't have time to go to the doctors for ourselves. If I'm here , it's because it's already worse.

The office is very well organized, they have bariatric patients as well as general surgery patients. Jenna is his nurse And his been with him likely longer than I've been his patient as she was there when I went in for my bariatric consultation years ago. Last month Dr Fass did surgery on a large Para-esophageal Hernia with Nissan Fundiplication-he used a DaVinci Robot-He advised a 3 day post op stay-he did such a great job and I was up and about the next morning independently in my room-i discharged on day 2 post operation. He visited me daily. I like his bedside manner, He is caring but very confident and gives explicit directions on follow up care. Prior to surgery he gave me a very good picture of what to expect. He even advised there was a YouTube video that I could observe on the procedure he would be doing. He did not require any gastric surgery to be done when I had this repair unlike another surgeon where I was being treated prior. My incisions healed very nicely and very quickly with no signs or symptoms of infection. I highly recommend Dr. Steven Fass for general surgery as well as bariatric surgery.
