I had the chicken and waffles, and it was excellent! The chicken was a full boneless breast split and tenderize to perfection. The seasoning was very nice and complimented the waffle perfectly. The waffle was very good as well, clearly made in house. My buddy had one of the burgers with fries, he added an over easy egg, which they had no problem doing. He said the fries were better than he expected and the whole meal was very good. It was a Wednesday night, kind of slow there and the service was superb. Anyway wife got her food first- then mine about 5 minutes later about 8:55 and then we left hungry- we tipped the waitress the normal 20% - she was nice. We left after 9! I literally thought Gordon Ramsy was gonna pop out and shut the place down ( LOL) UPDATE; NO BOSS, there was barely anyone there and that group was not that big. If you cannot handle the capacity of your restaurant, perhaps communicate with your tabels instead of wasting their time. As a Prior cook- I wouldn't have served what I got. My palate was expecting what was shown and written on your menu for $18 dollars...definitely not worth what we spent all the way around. I worked the saute line- I know how it goes. When you run out of something, you 86 it immediately and waitresses know about it. That table waited 40 minutes before they found out. Anyway- I appreciate the response but my point remains. This place is a disaster. 2nd Update BOSS...Isn't it funny I got a faster response ( less than 20 minutes) on my review than I got my food? I am in Hays KS for work. I've been here two weeks and have eaten here five times. It blows my mind that there's not a line out the door in the parking lot. Every lunch sandwich I've had has been absolutely amazing. I decided to try their breakfast this morning and it was also fantastic. This lead me to try a dinner this evening, I ordered the pork chop. Stopped here on a Monday morning - and service was great! Food was fantastic. In fact, it was so good that we decided to have a post-graduation get-together here! Called Breaks and made a reservation for our party of 13. Mind you, this call was made weeks in advance. We showed up after graduation - only to be told that they were not going to honor reservations that day. Instead we had to wait for a table to be available. It took about 45 minutes for that to happen. Things only got worse from here. Once seated and our orders were taken, it took two and a half hours for our food to arrive. Yes. Two hours and thirty minutes. Kids in our party were exhausted and crabby. If that wasn't bad, the food was cold... People at other tables just left after waiting for an hour. Do not blame them at all. No apologies from the staff or management. Just a "we've given you a small discount. Thanks". Will I go back? Probably not. Nice place. Expansive menu. Good decor and vibe. Henry, our server, was knowledgeable, efficient and kind. My friend and I enjoyed lunch, and it was her first visit. She had Eggs Benedict, which she said was delicious, especially the Hush Puppies. Although they were out of my first choice, the Spicy Fish Sandwich, my second option was the Chicken Cutlet Club sandwich with avocado, bacon & trimmings. Very good, although a little messy, but that's what napkins are for. I ordered a cup of Crab Bisque as a side and there was some confusion as I got Tomato Bisque. Upon pointing it out the Henry, he made it right by bringing me a cup of Crab Bisque, so I was able to eat both soups! Both are great, but Crab Bisque was AMAZING! This was a quiet place for lunch. Horrible experience. Good Food, Terrible Service. After being seated, we waited 20 minutes at our table with no sign of a waitress. Finally, I went back to the hostess stand and asked for a manager, who found us a waitress. She took our drink order, forgot it, came back to ask again. 10mins later, the drinks arrived. The garnish from my drink was missing, and no lemon with the water as I ordered. We then ordered food and waited 47 minutes for our salad and soup to arrive. 40 minutes after that, one of our entrees arrived. 20 minutes later, the other entree arrived, the sandwich was warm, the fries were cold. In total, we were at the restaurant over two hours. They offered us a mere 20% discount, which does not account for our wasted time or frustration. From listening around the restaurant, and on our way out, It seemed we weren't the only customers upset with the service that night. read more

The design of the restaurant definitely fits the high class luxury feel they seem to be going for. Henry our server was super kind and helpful. Delivered everything we needed and offered more. The actual food we ordered was not done well. The breading was falling apart the small chuck of chicken that was served. The taste was not good at all. I mean, I like my bacon crispy, but it was burned. The biscuit and gravy had cold thick gravy on top of a cold biscuit. Scrambled eggs were cold. The toast was cold. The potatoes are served in a little cast-iron skillet which is cute but we're also cold. I mean, use your microwave if you have to, but everyone wants a nice hot breakfast. My server was great. Great interior design. I like the diversity of the menu and love brunch options. The execution of my order however was unfortunate. I ordered a luncheon size Apple Salad with grilled chicken. It came out in odd shaped bowl that was low in the front and high on the back. It looked pretty but functionally I it was a disaster. Every time I put my fork in to get a bite lettuce and toppings, it overflow on to the counter. Someone from the kitchen comes out about 10 minutes after my salad was served and apologized that they forgot the Gorgonzola. Ok. As I am still struggling with how to eat this salad, I realize there is no chicken!!! My server was great and so mortified. I asked for a plate so that I can just dump out the salad and wait for the chicken. It comes out on a separate plate as a whole breast not chopped. It has been brined in pickle juice. That flavor profile was just weird. I chopped it, put it on my salad which is not pretty void of any dressing. Ugh. My Iced tea was great. Just not a great food experience. On a road trip passing this area at breakfast time we were torn between Breaks and their neighbor. Without having tried the neighbors, I am confident we chose the wrong place. The pancakes were dense and tasted like birthday cake, dutch babies are on the menu but unavailable, the avo toast is not toasted, and what was described as gremolata should have been called green garlic spread. This is our second visit and most likely last. They did a great job on interior design. Our server was nice. The food is pretty...ok. Nothing near as good as Home Grown out of Wichita. Their prices are amongst the highest seen for breakfast places. You are better off eating elsewhere if you have a family. We got charged $7.50 for each 8 Oz pour of apple juice. The coffee is expensive but tastes worse than the cheapest on the shelf. read more

This was the worst experience I've ever had in a restaurant. We waited half an hour for half of our drinks. The other half of our drinks took another while, and it was mostly just waters. We waited well over an hour, maybe an hour and a half before we got food. And the food wasn't really very good, with multiple items missing. They did not appear to be short staffed, but I believe it was our server's first day. She was doing her best, so I won't put the blame on her. What host puts a brand new server on a large table? There were 11 people in our party, so that was not a good choice at all. Give the big party to someone experienced for goodness sakes! In all we were in the restaurant for two hours, and I can't see why I would ever return--to any location. By the way, this is all coming from a very forgiving group, because about half of us had been or are servers. read more

They only brought what looked like less than one egg, the hash browns were NOT hash browns they were very small and thin crispy french fries. Delightfully unexpected Sunday morning breakfast experience driving across Kansas to Colorado. We learned that Breaks has only been open for a couple of months. Super nice interior and outside patio with permanent umbrellas. Superb hostess and waitstaff (Amy!). Lots of small but thoughtful touches on the menu-great biscuits, homemade jellies, little hash brown balls on top of extra crispy hash browns, fresh brewed iced tea. They loved having our dog, a pointer, on the outside patio. You would go here regularly if this were in The Woodlands, Plano, Grapevine, Memorial, or San Antonio (except there really wasn't tasty salsa). Coffee was cold and was $5.00, the side of meat was a separate charge and was just one piece of sausage. French toast was also cold, and not particularly good for the price.
