It would be no stars if I could, waited 45 minutes for our order, two entress came out cold. They recooked one entree and didn't remake tje second one. Took one entree off the bill. Spent over an hour and a half just trying to eat a quick dinner after driving 500 miles. Food was cold coleslaw was warm. Tried to stop waitress a couple time to ask about food till she finally acknowledged us. Never again. After a very lack luster experience at fuzzys next door we popped in here for drinks and dessert. We were blown away by the kind and fast service. Everyone was charming and happy to help. Great food, good service. My son loves coming to Applebees. The wings are great, and he loves their burgers. Shrimp dishes are always good. Various entrees, including fish, shrimp, chicken, beef, and of course baby back ribs. "I want my Baby Back Baby Back" N'Sync sang it best. The appetizers are super, including Wonton Tacos. Drinks are good, and they have a full bar. The portions are large, and we don't leave room for dessert, but they do have dessert if you split a meal to save room for the sweets. Salads are always fresh, and pasta dishes are very tasty for your carb loading days. There are not many options for vegetarians. Fries are large and very good. read more

I went there and was disappointed. I ordered a medium rare steak and it was cooked way past well done. The mac and cheese I got with it was very sad it was made with penne noodles and a dap of flavorless white sauce. Most of the noodles were dry. The service was okay but we never got offered refills. I am so thankful the staff let me sit in a booth as a single visitor. I have been sleeping on a floor/car for 5 days and driving for 3 days. My back is killing me. Last night I was forced to sit at a bar in an empty restaurant in Tennessee. That bar stool caused more issues for my back. I am so happy that Applebee's did not refuse me service. I am also super happy to have healthier food options while on a long drive. I refuse to eat fast food. When I seen this place on the map, I drove an extra 100 miles to get here. Went to Applebee's in Hays, Kansas. Had a new girl as waitress. When we asked a question, she didn't know the answer, she asked for assistance. I ordered a steak. It was ordered well done. Kept coming medium. The manager came and asked how was it ordered. I said well. I said bring me a box and I'll heat it up in the microwave at the hotel. He took the steak off the bill. Then he cooked another steak for me to take. It would have been better if the steak would have been cooked correctly the first time. The manager fixed the problem and I was able to have something to eat. read more

I was on the road, just looking for a burger and beer. I was pleasantly surprised. Being by myself I sat at the bar. The bartender was friendly, able to stay on top of her job and chat with the customers as well. As to the food, When my late wife and I ordered our burger pink we always had a bet as to weather it would come out "Pink" as ordered. I've been to this restaurant a few times, and I LOVE IT! The atmosphere is extremely welcoming, with someone always at the door, ready to seat you. The service is amazing and the wait time for our food (which was 5 appetizers) was only 15 minutes. The price for all that food was spectacular because you get half price appetizers after 10pm, which is a steal! Definitely recommend! read more

I keep giving Applebee's a try. And leave disappointed. The service is always good, very friendly and helpful. But the food just doesn't cut it. I do like the won ton tacos but that's an appetizer. So I ordered the 6 oz sirloin and ordered med to med rear. The bar tender said that would be pink inside. I said ok as long as it's not raw. Now I will eat if it's rear but would rather not. I cut open the steak and yes it was raw. So I gave it a shot it was so tough I could not chew it al all. So I sent it back. When I got it back no difference. I ordered broccoli and garlicky green beans with it. The broccoli was so over cooked it was like mush and the green beans the same way. Applebee's has been struggling because of food quality they revamped their kitchens to make a cone back. One would think if you know you are losing sales because of the food quality well then focus everything you have on it. I happen to be a franchise consultant for a restaurant chain. I put this on here not to hurt them but in hopes the owner reads it and can put great systemic focused training on food quality. Bob read more

More like Crapple-Bees. For most a dining out experience at AppleBee's is never a first choice and like most there was no exception here. However the horrendousness of the food at AppleBee's is something that words will fall short to capture but I'll try my upmost. My friend and I ordered salads thinking the bar for screwing up a salad is pretty low and one of those items that a chimpanzee with severe brain trauma could do correctly. Oh how I would have preferred the brain-injured chimp to the "cooks" that prepared our salads. We ordered their "southwest salads" and they clearly crossed into the menu illegally and should be swiftly deported back south whence they came. AppleBee's menu does what can only be described as "Catfishing" where you see pictures of something beautiful and then when your presented with the real deal it differs vastly for the worse from what you thought you'd be getting. The salads were bathing in dressing, where lettuce was floating on a medium sized puddle. The dressing was supposed to be ranch but was vinaigrette, it had the texture of an inflamed large pimple with clear viscous fluid followed quickly by thick creamy white puss, and tasted like such. The "meat" was as warm as pocket lint and tasted about the same with almost no flavor and chewy texture that clearly screamed Microwaved. On top of our microwaved pucks of meat there was a green pile of shavings of what tasted vaguely like lime and sawdust, something that should line the floors of a hamster cage not rest upon human food. The animals that gave their lives for this salad did so in vain. I hope their sacrifice in this review will steer you clear of ever entering this AppleBee's in Hays Kansas. The ONLY way this Crapple-Bee's is getting anything past a 1 star review is by PAID reviewers, I checked out some of the "5 star" ratings here and there by people that only review franchises and chains, sketchy. read more

We stopped at Applebee's in Hays on Friday, Nov. 26 For lunch. There were very few customers in the restaurant. The wait staff was very nice and prompt with their service.I was there with my elderly mother. We ordered the prime rib sandwich with fries and asked if we could split the order between the 2 of us. Again, the waiter was super nice. We received the order brought to us by a server, who was nice. The sandwich was burnt. The toasted bun/hoagie was totally burnt around the edges, not just dark brown, but charcoal burnt, as was the meat. It was burnt, again charcoal burnt . The waiter came to the table and I said the sandwich was burnt and showed him. He noted "wow" it was burnt and said he would tell the manager. We only ate 2 bites from the sandwich. The manger came out in a few minutes and said the waiter said I had complained the sandwich was burnt. I showed her and she said, she could get us another piece of bread. I noted no thanks, as it was the meat as well burnt. She just said ok and turned and walked off. I have NEVER had such a bad meal. I NEVER have asked for a refund. I would not pay. I paid and gave the waiter a tip because HE had a clue and felt bad. The manager could not have cared less. I understand training a new cook, new staff, but the manager should have apologized and offered to remake the sandwich and showed the cook/kitchen this is not acceptable! I have eaten there many many times and have driven the 20 miles to Hays just to eat there, but never again. You lost a customer. read more
