They have a lot of TV's that were on the same game. One tv was about 10 seconds ahead of the others. In the 4th quarter Leah came and turned that tv off because they wanted to make the other customers happy. They didn't care about the 30 other people that were watching that tv. Not impressed. And they were super rude about it. Leah has been known to antagonize customers. Won't be going back nor will the other 30 people there. read more

It's been over 20 years since I've been to the Q, but the burger is the same. Bigger building, cleaner bathrooms and no more $2.50 32 oz draws, but the burger is the same. It completely took me back to remembering my days at FHSU in the 90's. I will say that this is the BEST burger in Kansas. I can't wait to get back and have another. read more

The Golden Q is a Hays staple and I swear by it. I hadn't been back to town in years so when I made my return I had to stop in for a Q Burger. Color me shocked. Gone was the old cigarette smoke-filled and alcohol-fueled hazy look of the Golden Q of yesteryear and in its place is a semi-recently remodeled and expanded Golden Q... one that is now CLEAN, smoke free and includes a couple of back rooms, tons of tvs and a back patio. You can still drink your choice of alcohol (it's encouraged,) you can still play pool if you want and most importantly, you can still enjoy a Q Burger (or your burger of choice,) but you don't have to feel bad about bringing some underage members of the family during the afternoon to watch the game of your choice. I love the new open look and man, I still love those Q Burgers. I can't wait to come back. read more

The Golden Q has a great selection of burgers and brews. Friendly staff and fun atmosphere.

Good, not great, burgers-but watered down drinks and long lines with never enough help behind the counter. Especially on major holidays (New Years) or when bands would come to play. The Q used to be the place to hang out. My parents would frequent and recommend it highly when I first moved to Hays. They've also admitted it's lost its luster sinced the "glory days". Just waiting for it to go the way of the HPC and see what new life is breathed into the building. read more

I have been there twice. The first time was very overcrowded, there was no place to eat. I asked someone if we could use the extra chairs at their table, pull them to a different table so our group of four could eat together and was told no, they needed those chairs for their friends, who were not even there. Not the owners fault, just annoyed me. The second time we went which was Halloween night of 2020. Not overcrowded, my date and myself each order a sweet alcoholic drink which was really good and a 1/2 plate of Quesada's. Went back got another plate of Quesada's. Two hours passed, our table and chairs were not needed there was plenty available. We were not in the least way acting drunk. Sitting, talking quietly, walking straight. Went and ordered each a second drink at the bar and neither of our drinks had alcohol in them. Paid $11 for kool aid. read more

Great place to come and hang out and have food and drinks. Famous for their hamburgers. The corn nuggets and Pickel-O's are also excellent appetizers. We just visited the Q for the first time since you new ownership and service was fantastic!! We called ahead of time to ask if they were airing a non-local football game. There was no answer but my call was quickly returned seconds later by Conner! He was extremely friendly and accommodating. They were able to air the game so we came down! We were asked multiple times during our stay if we were doing ok or needed anything. Very prompt and friendly. And as always the food was amazing! read more

I made the mistake of coming in for a burger at 9:40 on a Sunday night. The kitchen closes at 10:00pm, so the order was rushed. The curly fries were old, the burger came out wrong, and the soft drink machine was shut off early. Golden Q is solid, especially for travelers on the way to Denver who aren't interested in McDonalds or other roadside fare. It is a divey bar, and you have to stand at the bar to order and pay for your food - which may make sense on a crowded game day. It was no big deal, as the service is friendly. The food was fine, we ordered mozzarella sticks as an app, I had the spicy burger and my wife had wings. Price was right, and the food was pretty good. Very overrated. I've been there three times and each time was more disappointing than the last. The food is OK. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing really worth getting excited over. The burgers aren't even the best in Hays. Food is decent, typical of what you would find anywhere else. Just standard fare. However, what loses it for me is their service. I ordered a beer and showed the server my driver's license. She looked confused since it was not a kansas license and was like "I, uh, I'm not sure about this." Seriously, an out of state ID caused the girl to freeze up. Second time I went, I had a seat and a server came over and told me I couldn't sit there because that's where some regulars come in and play poker. It was still afternoon and the place was about 2/3 empty, so plenty of other open tables, but apparently this was *their* spot. A bar with assigned seats is a new concept to me, but whatever. I moved to the tiny cramped bar and promptly got ignored by the wait staff all night (in all fairness, they probably just couldn't see me.) Last time I went in, I went in after an extremely rough day and needed a drink. The server asked how my day was and I gave her a quick ten second overview. She said "wow, sounds like you need a beer!" She later came back and served me a second round. About ten minutes after that, the manager and a bouncer came over and escorted me out because I "gave the server an anxiety attack." I am not making this up. It's billed as a sports bar, but the TV's usually don't show any of the games you're interested in, and if they do, it's all on mute anyway. I asked them to change one tv closest to me to another game, and the server said "I don't know how" and just walked away. I haven't been back since then and I probably won't be, unless I'm with a group that for some reason really wants to go there. read more

This was a delightful cheeseburger in Hays KS, for the places I have eaten in Hays, I would say easily the best quality and tastiest options. Go with the Q burgers, you won't be disappointed! I did the double Q with cheese and a side of fried mushrooms. The cheeseburger was inhaled at record speeds. I am not a huge eater but I could have easily scarfed another. The fried mushrooms were definitely of bagged and frozen variety, nothing to write home about. The ambiance is a walk in and counter order type joint with wait staff that deliver the food to your table. Not sure why they don't just take your order but it seems if you want alcohol, they take your order then. Everything seemed in order and it was a smooth first visit with an awesome cheeseburger to boot; can't wait to go back and try something else, I hear they have some other really good specialty burgers. read more

HUGE portion sizes, great flavors with tender juicy meat, and the prices are so low that when I closed my tab I had to ask the guy if they'd missed something because I had somehow managed to buy burgers and drinks for 6 people without breaking half a franklin. Guess I have been away from KS in the big city for too long. Also, when I say "large portions" I mean it. The double cheeseburger looked like it was easily 3/4-1 lb of meat. It fed my 6'5" eating-machine grandpa and he was STUFFED. There were only 2 downsides I saw. First of all I had the spicy chicken sandwich and by "spicy" they mean "we put Frank's hot sauce on it". Uh ok, whatever I guess, it was still juicy and delicious. Secondly, the service wasn't stellar. I love coming here and getting a drink with my friends and the food is always spot on! However, the staff are not very friendly and can come off aggressive to their customers (mainly the male staff) and it makes me and my friends uncomfortable. Today, was probably one of the least enjoyable experiences with this place. My friend and I had gotten food and drinks on the patio and the staff was amazing and did a great job at checking in on us. When we were leaving we went through the patio gate, because we were parked on the side. My friend, from out of town, accidentally left the gate open and I had noticed (within seconds) so I started walking back to turn it around. As I was walking back to shut it a middle-aged male said "c'mon, shut the gate" in a very antagonistic and rude tone. I am not sure if he was another customer or an employee sitting out there. I am fairly young and so is my friend, so it was frightening and made us very uncomfortable especially since you don't know what a person will do. I kept my mouth shut as I was closing the patio gate, because I did not want anything to escalate further from that, but it really rubbed me the wrong way. read more
