in town for provisions and stuff and a drop in at the Spam® museum conveniently located directly…read moreacross the intersection of 3rd & Main. was kinda hoping for a full service breakfast plus some sort of coffee, getting full service coffee with some sort of breakfast instead is not the worst sort of problem to have. coffee here is "better" than is my custom: bolder and drier than the House of Maxwell's with a little bite. not sure why everyone wants to dump out the remains of my previous coffee but they do... I just kinda maybe wish they'd ask if they should first. the grilled cheese (paninied) is not what I intended but it is likely a better option than CFS plus eggs and grits... sandwich comes with sliced tomato and minced onion cooked in - the 10,000-degree press does wonders for the acidic sugar in the tomato; think sun-dried fruits that were actually dried in the actual sun. stuffed wavy-on-top-smooth-on-the-bottom toast with herb sprinkle presents well but I'm not sure what to do with the fork. shop is comfortable with seating available at a half dozen kitchen tables, a couple dinettes and wrought irony patio sets or a rumpus room couch. the hard part of casual is not trying to hard to look like you're not trying so hard. friendly and efficient CHoM pretty much nails it :-)

They have non dairy milk for the milks and also have sandwiches for food. My sisters loved the chocolate chip cookies. I got the Hawaiian latte and the flavors mixed well with each other. There is plenty of seating but which were mostly all taken when we stopped there. The employees didn't greet us when we at the counter and were talking to each other. But they were kind when we ordered our items.

This was a most pleasant surprise. Excellent vegan Cuban…read moresandwich with jackfruit BBQ, deli ham, pineapple salsa, and vegan cheese. Good enough to order a second- but alas I didn't. Large amount of fries with the sandwich. The carrot cake cupcake was EXCELLENT. I am a carrot cake snob and this was a solid 9 out of 10. Large place, rustic appearance. It is a craft brewery. Only beer at the bar. It had the best background music I've heard in a bit - pretty sure Lucinda Williams was singing to me during lunch.

A friend highly recommended Forager Cafe, which is why I went there with high expectations. Hmmmm,…read morehow can I say this....I was disappointed. I ordered their black and tan beer. A tasty choice (check out the photo). Then I asked for a reuben sandwich with a side of fries. I really liked the two-tone rye bread. There was modest amount of corned beef. Notice I didn't say 'generous.' The kraut, Swiss cheese, and thousand island dressing were a solid compliment. BUT the fries.... Check out the photo and look at the fries. These were double dunked in oil, greasy and sogged out, slightly charred, and meh tasting. I looked over at another patron's plate of food and saw her fries looked perfect. Golden, single dunk in oil, and crisp. Can I add a sad face emoji here? I called over the bartender and had him look at my fries, then look at the other patron's, and tell me the difference. He saw what I saw. I told him what was wrong with mine and asked why. He apologized and said he'd take 50% off my food bill. I saw him go back to the kitchen and have a conversation about my fries, which I appreciated. He didn't blow me off and let the kitchen know they dropped the ball. I've eaten at a lot of places from dives to fine dining, and I think the sign of good eatery is one that can excel at the basics.....like french fries. Plus, when you have your "A" staff working in the kitchen, but your staff sends out subpar fries to a customer...what does that say about the kitchen staff and leadership? Will I go back? Not sure, but there other places I've eaten at in Rochester that are consistently good. If I ever have family or friends in town and we go out to eat, we're not going to Forager Cafe.
