My family and I love to walk to Breakers for breakfest. We have dogs, and of course they come with us. We love them for giving the dogs water and even treats. Echo, the parrott, is more entertainment then one can ask for. The french toast is perfect, bacon cooked perfectly. Hashbrowns are cooked well, though the country potatoes are soft. Good thing I don't like them, but they are always ready for a fill of coffee. And good coffee at that! It's nice to know a family and dog friendly place is still around in the naighborhood! read more

My girlfriend and I decided to go here because she keeps saying how good it is. Sounded like a nice place; wrong. 1 star for quick service. My dish consisted of two eggs over easy, diced potatoes, diced ham, and cheese. It was barely warm and clearly microwaved. The food still had a frozen taste to it. The middle of the dish was warm and rest was cold. The eggs and my girlfriend's pancakes were just ok. The coffee was weak and I don't drink coffee very much. Always great food - very good portions for both breakfast and lunch. Coffee is always fresh. Comfortable and clean inside and I love the wall art :) Their method of making french fries is so good! Fresh and extra crispy. My only complaint is that I don't like to be served on a plastic plate. 5 stars for food and nice service, but I'm knocking off 1 star for plastic plates. I'm a middle aged woman, not a 4 year old so I prefer not to have my lunch served on plastic. read more

Wonderful tofu and veggies breakfast for me, and my BF loved his Breakers Omelet. The portion sizes were great, except for the fruit cup that you can substitute for the potatoes for $1. It came in the smallest bowl I've ever seen. It held maybe 2 tablespoons of fruit. Not worth it, at all. They need to be more generous, especially where healthy choices are concerned. My girlfriend and I are, I'd have to say, breakfast connoisseurs, so we were pretty excited to find somewhere with decent reviews so close to my apartment. Unfortunately I can't say the reviews actually match up to what you get. She ordered the pancakes and I ordered one of their omelets. Let me tell you something, bisquik does not count as homemade pancakes. More do dry eggs go with greasy omelet ingredients. I didn't even know that was possible until I came here. This place has really gone downhill in the last 3+ years. The pancakes come to the table black, the country style potatoes are shriveled, tough and dry, the coffee gets weaker all the time & it's way too hard to get a refill. I've stopped going there. I'll miss the parrot. read more

The food here is pretty mediocre and the service is inconsistent. I also have an issue with flies buzzing around me and my food when I am seated inside. It always seems to be packed on the weekends but I feel like every known breakfast place is like that. Bottom line: not bad, not good, just average. read more

Just your typical, run-of-the-mill kind of cafe/diner with an awesome parrot out front. I've only come here a few times, but nothing really stuck out other than the epic murals they have in the restaurant. The menu is standard breakfast/lunch affair (American breakfast, sandwiches). Service was decent, server was very energetic and attentive. Food about average. Certainly not my favorite little diner spot, but if I'm buying stationary or something at McWhorter's next door, I'm thinking eh, why not? read more

I read a few of the Yelp! reviews and since I go out to brunch almost every weekend, I have learned: Be specific on how you want your food cooked. There are too many different ways to serve eggs and potatoes. I personally can't stand overcooked eggs and I want my potatoes crispy. I always give a star for attentiveness. My omelet and hashbrowns were cooked perfectly. I asked for a combo of fillings not listed and they accommodated. I loved that at 10:30 we were seated immediately and that there was no rush to get us out the door. read more

They need to step up their game if they think they will continue to get business. I saw 2 people walk out on their order after waiting 45 min and still no food. I have been going to Breakers for a long time. This place has such good service! Everyone is so sweet and with the outdoor seating, we can bring our dogs. The one waiter always remembers our dogs and always takes time to say hi to them. They have a water bowl outside and everything. As for the food, it is decent. It definitely isn't the best (coffee sucks). HOWEVER, the reason I always come back is the people and the atmosphere. It is very homey. I do agree with another commenter who said it could use a bit of an update. PS - sad fact, the bird that has been the mascot of Breakers for so long, has passed. We were absent from this place for a few months and when we came back, we got the sad news :( read more

Went today with my mom... we always go here cause it's in my moms neighborhood... staff very nice ... drinks always refilled... my mom loves the breakfast and I usually get a sandwich or burger love the fries. It takes me an hour to two hours to get to my moms and it's so nice to just go down the street and have nice meal. read more

I stopped by here for lunch today. I've been a few times before and the food and service were fine. Not today--what a disaster. After waiting at least forty minutes my lunch arrived. We stumbled on to Breakers Cafe, thanks to Garmin GPS. Ok, we thought, a local hole-in-the wall. WOW! Breakfast Burrito was GOOD and HUGE! Coffee is filter or espresso (and good). Breakfast was so good that we planned our breakfast for the next day as well and detoured to Breakers before we left town. Great service, fast but not forcing one's pace. I have never written a review in my life. This was the worst breakfast experience. Our waiter was rude, both our plates were wrong, even when they fixed our food the cheese was still wrong. They forgot our order of pancakes, all the while never apologizing. I live 2 blocks away and will not be going back. Even when we told the owner of our experience, he still did not apologize. This restaurant does not seem to care about customer service. The people in the booth behind us also had their food order messed up and were not happy with the restaurant. I'll admit that I have high standards for diners after living in Chicago and NYC. Breakers is about as good as it gets in Redwood City. Their skillets are awesome and the service is usually pretty friendly and prompt. There's a crazy African Grey parrot front of the store that makes all kinds of crazy sounds; from cell phone rings to cat calls. They are open until 2:30 pm for breakfast and lunch. I'd stick with the breakfast menu. read more

Breakers has a great location however that is the only thing positive about this restaraunt . The good is ok, but the ambiance , the plates, silverware, tables etc. is very shabby. Not looking for a brand new feel just a place that is well maintained and cared for. I won't be going back! read more
