Whenever my family and I are in Redwood City we make sure we make a stop at Prima Deli. My go to sandwich is the Chicken Pesto on Dutch Crunch. It's great! Just deli meat smooshed together between two soggy pieces of bread. Meh: atmosphere/ambiance. No decor or much of anything that made the place feel comfortable. $20 for a club sandwich, bag of chips, and two drinks...a little high but inflation is real so I'm not complaining. I am standing outside on a Monday, no explanation, full staff behind the counters and it is 3:48pm and they are locked up tight. I don't care how good a place might be if they can't honor their hours or put up a sign to justify closing shop early, I will never return. I will rate this deli zero out of 5 for the ridiculous lack of service. They need to adjust the business hours as 4pm is not being followed- maybe call it 3:30pm Monday to Sunday. Grew up in RWC and Prima is by FAR just the best around! Love the majority of the staff, the owner who took over is such a sweet guy and always remembers my name and says hi. Tasha is just amazing and makes the BEST sandwiches there! All but the 1 lady with tattoos there makes great sandwiches, if you get this one, beware your order will probably be incorrect, even though it is written down for them all to make. The rolls are fresh and amazing every time, but go early before they sell out! I am so glad Prima is still around so that I get to take my kids to it (they are grown up and drive themselves now) and I will see you soon for the next yummy sandwich!! read more

This is a pretty good sandwich shop but goodness every time we come here it's EXTREMELY SLOW! You can wait upwards of 30+ minutes for sandwiches. We even went at what I thought was an off hour (around 2pm on a Sunday) and we still waited 20-30 minutes for two sandwiches. I did enjoy my sandwich last time though - turkey, lettuce, tomato, mayo on Dutch crunch bread. Bread didn't cut up my mouth or break my teeth (a problem I've had with some other Dutch crunch bread at some places)... ingredients tasted fresh and overall sure I'd come back but not if I'm in a hurry. read more

I have been eating here FOR TWENTY FOUR YEARS I've always had the same opinion since day one. Their sandwiches have never been better than a pre-made grocery store sanwiches, but cost more. Why do I come back? Only because it's in my neighborhood which has no other close options except for a grocery store deli, and I really liked the old owners who sold it about 20 years ago. Dont ever walk in at lunch time. The phone in orders are always made before walk ins. It can literally take over THIRTY MINUTES to get your bland sandwich. When I mentioned it to the owner, he shrugs his shoulders and says.."we're busy..." Really? Yeah no sh%t sherlock... Its always busy at lunch time for ANY deli, so staff the eff up, dont make eating in customers wait on phone orders. Go ahead and take your chances, lol.. We shared a Dave's Special (turkey, pastrami, coleslaw, mozzarella, jack & Swiss cheese with lettuce, tomato, onions and pepperoncini) on the recommended rye and it was the best sandwich we've had in a long time. Toasted, melted cheese, a great mix of flavors and plenty for two. They were very busy with many to go orders but we got ours in about 10 minutes. This is now our go-to place for sandwiches. My family had always heard about this place through friends and acquaintances that raved about the sandwiches here. We had previously frequented Woodside Deli all the time, but the quality there has definitely dipped, so we gave Prima try. So glad we did, the sandwiches do live up to the hype. They are always consistent with the way they make their sandwiches, and the customer service is always on point. I have seen others not have the same experience, so I guess it all depends on a hit or miss with the day you come. Luckily, we have not had a bad experience. I would definitely recommend giving this place a try if you are in the mood for a decent sandwich made right. I've been going to Prima Deli since I was a kid and they rarely disappoint! They have the best sections of quality meat, cheese and breads. A few of the workers have been there for years and are so kind. I used to always go with the basic turkey and cheese sandwich because it never disappoints but recently I've been having fun trying different sandwiches. I now love their panini's but just discovered my new favorite, Dave's special with their house coleslaw.
