Love this place. Ultra flavorful foods. The Muscles are delectable. I dont know if I love the muscles or the savory delicious sauce they come in. Large portion and bread to get all the goodness. I even take the wine sauce home after to enjoy later with pasta. Escargot is buttery and scrumptious. And we also love the cheese plate. Top it all off with a great waiter (Dave) for a perfect experience. read more

This place was perfect for a late afternoon feast. We had the place to ourselves which was great because there isn't a ton of seating but it's those cute bistro tables and chairs. Server was super kind and attentive. The food was very tasty. We dined on escargot, foie gras, mussels, and a watermelon salad. Dessert was espresso and macarons. read more

We come to Galena once a year and this place is heavy in the rotation. My favorite food and drinks on Main St. I typically get the espresso martini or the tamarindo mezcalito. Both are fantastic. For food it's mandatory to get the blue cheese bruschetta. Just get 2 orders it's the best. All the food is amazing. The staff is incredible and kind. The ambiance is bright and inviting. I would eat multiple meals here per day, but I think the staff would think I was weird. read more

First, it was so clean and beautiful in there. It is a smaller space but plenty of room to enjoy such deliciously fresh food. The service was timely and very kind. I was going to go back the next day before leaving as my vacation was ending, and they were so packed. That is a good thing! read more

Top notch! We had pastries, which were devine. Flaky with just the right sweetness. Lattes...YUM...beautifully smooth and flavorful. Solid service and lovely atmosphere. read more

The service was great, though they were super busy, our server was as attentive as could be. The food was outstanding! Every bite we had was delicious. The vibe is friendly and simple. The seating is pretty cramped, so not good if you get anxious. The ac wasn't working this day, so we were kind hot, but it was doable. read more

My boyfriend and I went to Bread & Vine in Galena on January 22nd 2026, and we had the absolute pleasure of being served by Lexi (I did some digging on Facebook to find her because I wanted to make sure I got her name correct.) I felt compelled to leave this review because exceptional service like hers deserves to be recognized. From the moment we sat down, Lexi was attentive, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable. She had an answer to every single question we asked -- not just about the menu, but about the business itself. She knew so much about Bread & Vine that I genuinely thought she might be the owner. That level of pride and understanding is rare and speaks volumes about her professionalism. What really stood out was how accommodating and engaging she was. She made thoughtful recommendations, not only for food and drinks, but also for other places to visit and things to do around Galena. It truly elevated our entire experience. Because of her suggestions and the way she described everything so well, we ended up ordering (and purchasing) more than we originally planned -- simply because we trusted her recommendations. Lexi is the kind of employee every business hopes to have. She represents Bread & Vine with confidence, warmth, and expertise. She absolutely deserves recognition -- and in my opinion, a raise -- for the way she goes above and beyond for guests. I hope she sees this and I hope this reaches someone as important as her. We'll definitely be back, and a big reason why is Lexi. read more

I really enjoyed my late lunch of appetizers. There were 5 of us and we decided to split 3 appetizers and that was enough for all of us. We started with mini sliders. They were so delicious. The meat was tender and the grilled onion and tomato were the perfect toppings. The burgers were well seasoned and juicy. The next appetizer was a Cuban croquette. These were not our favorite but they were crunchy and interesting, just not for us. The last item we got was a flat bread pizza with bacon and fingerling potatoes. It also came with a chili oil that you could add if you wanted. The bread was really good and the bacon potato combination was a unique flavor combo I would never have thought of. It was very good. The chili oil was very spicy but a nice accent to the pizza. bread & Vine is an adorable little restaurant with a lot to offer. They have sandwiches and desserts available to go or to enjoy in the restaurant, along with a menu of items to enjoy hot at the 12 or so tables. They also have a wide selection of macarons which are also delicious. read more

The treats were good and the restaurant was cute for a stop to get a quick dessert. The service was fast, but our server was really busy therefore not overly friendly. Every time I picked out a dessert he simply replied "no", meaning it was out. And he did the same to a couple next to us. Gave us something to laugh about when we left. read more

This place is probably best known for its bakery items / desserts, but we had lunch there earlier this week. I would recommend the place as our meals were quite good. I got the Greek Gyro which came on naan bread. I loved the roasted lamb meat and thought the meal was great. My husband got the special Crab sandwich w/ fries. He really enjoyed his sandwich and we enjoyed the fries. I liked the variety in their menu and if in the area, I would stop in again. read more

We came here for lunch on a girl's trip and really enjoyed it. We kept seeing info about trying the creme de violet cocktail, so had to give that one a go. I ordered the frozen aperol spritz but was given a frose, which was also on the menu. The same thing happened to one of the gals in my group. It was packed inside and I'm not sure the waitress heard me say frozen Aperol spritz, so she just brought a frozen drink. It was a lovely drink, so I didn't ask for a replacement. I ordered the steak sandwich, which was really good with Brie and pesto! I wish the steak was better, it was very overcooked and tough but a nice sandwich nonetheless. Everyone in my group enjoyed their meals. My friend and I ordered the creme de violet cocktail, and it was okay, but I wouldn't order it again. Overall, a nice experience and tasty food! read more

Ate here on a Saturday night. We walked right in and sat at a table near the bar. It's a cute place very reminiscent of a french bistro with pastry case up front. Loch was our server and he was excellent- made the most perfect whiskey old Fashioned. Our best during our stay in Galena. He recommended the pizza and the wagyu burger and fries. The four of us split the pizza and two burgers. We had the goat cheese and honey flatbread - it was a crispy crust and the toppings were plentiful. It was a good appetizer for us. We were glad we split the burger it was a good size and delicious as well as the fries. Loch was an excellent server and made our evening perfect. Would live to come back here for breakfast next time. read more

Repeat visit at the behest of friends. Food doesn't appear to be prepared on the site. I did have the salmon croissant which was tasty and the cucumbers were fresh and crunchy. The friends loved the Croque monsieur, Parma and quiche. Portions substantial. Service was provided by one person, Dave! The other person stayed at the bakery section except when she refilled our water glass. He did his best accommodating a few large crowds. I give him credit because they included special cocktails with the food. All in all food and drinks are good. Seating is tight if you have more than 3 people in your party unless you're just having a drink. Management however needs to revisit service. If hiring is not in the budget the bakery person could share some of Daves responsibilities. read more

Food was really great! Had their sandwich's, truffle fries and cheese cake. All amazing. Downside would be the espresso. I asked the waiter about the coffee and he said it's the best in the world. I saw that they a fancy looking espresso machine. I ordered a plain latte and my husband got a black americano. We ordered a large double shot. Both were SO weak and small for being a large. I honestly wouldn't have cared about the size of it was at least good coffee. It truly was bad. I kinda think he used coffee as the espresso and then added water to my husband and milk to mine. The 8oz Americano was $6.50 and my terrible 8oz latte was $7.50 So beware of the coffee and coffee price. Everything else was good! read more

We were here 2x in 2 days and would've been here more if there weren't so many other cute places we hadn't even tried and we were returning to Chicago. Each Happy Hour Martini comes with a tasty empanada - had we not already had dinner reservations this would've been a fantastic dinner. We had to turn down the second one for fear of being too full for dinner. Fantastic service and amazing brunch in addition to great cocktails. I may go back to Galena just for this place. read more

A Galena must stop! I've tried everything here from the coffee to the parties to the sandwiches and breakfast. The only thing lacking is the coffee - they can only do black coffee or unflavored drinks. The line can be long but moved very fast! The service team knows what they're doing! The space is pretty small, so it's easy to feel crowded. read more

We started with the Half dozen Escargot. Moved on to Pork Belly tacos that were to die for. Then the Norwegian Salmon Pinsa. We enjoyed the Bacon Boulevardier B&G Bistro/ VIN de France Pinot Noir. Bread and vine is a dainty spot located in downtown Galena. The decor is lovely and pleasing to the eyes, it's super cute! There are lots of indoor seating and they do have the option to order items and take them to go. They offer desserts, pastries, sandwiches, salads and cocktails. My fiancé and I tried the smoked salmon croissant and that was delicious. I could eat that everyday! We also tried the new York cheese cake and that was meh. Tasted a few days old, wasn't very fresh and the lemon was over powering. For drinks my fiancé tried a pomegranate mojito and I thought it tasted too artificial and overly sweet. I had the pink panther cocktail and it was OK. Nothing special or unique but overall not bad. Service was quick. Our server was attentive and checked in on us multiple times. read more

This place is GREAT!! The food: amazing. I ordered the goat cheese salad and it was so delicious. A friend ordered a prosciutto flatbread (and the only sore spot was that it didn't seem to have prosciutto) but it was also good. The truffle fries were delicious and though I was too full for dessert, I heard it was excellent. The server was kind and humorous and it had a nice, family feel in there. I liked the cafe area, though the tables could've been bigger, but it was still really cute in there! Not totally cheap but also not overpriced, especially for being in Galena. I recommend! read more

What a delightful surprise! From what I had experienced while vacationing in the area, this was very much a midwestern meat and potatoes kind of town. Then low and behold, my party of seven stumbled upon this place while walking down the street. It was so different than any other place on that stretch. It's sophisticated, creative, very Euro, but unpretentious and inviting. We felt welcomed even with four kids in tow. Our servers were patient and kind with us while we encouraged our kids to try mussels and guided them toward kid friendly options. They were also incredibly accommodating with our food allergy daughter who didn't want to be left out from sampling the beautiful desserts. We liked it so much here that we returned on our way out of town a few days later. Excellent dining experience was had by all! Please visit and keep them in business! read more

Dropped by while in town as a late afternoon was snack and it was very tasty! Had their apple strudel pie looking bite and it hit the spot! We also had a couple of macarons which were equally delicious! We accompanied these treats with some tea and an espresso. The space is bright and very happy. It creates a new space that is very "Galena", which is great!
