Had lunch with a friend. We ordered the wine of the month bottle, Sweet Raspberry. It was sweet with just the right amount of tart raspberry to complement it. We both ordered the Turkey and Cranberry Panini. What a wonderful mixture of flavors! Oh, and it's actually turkey and not deli meat turkey! It was served with a choice of sides and we both chose the chips and salsa since we figured we'd be talking for a bit. These weren't your ordinary chips as they had a delicious seasoning on them. The salsa had quite a bite in the spicy level, for me. My only complaint was that it took over 45 min for the sandwiches to come to us and they were busy but not overly busy. Fortunately we were there to talk and catch up so not a big deal but if you're coming for a lunch hour from work, it might not work for you. Service: The servers seemed not very interested in taking our food order. I somehow got them to get my order and when we needed to add something to to it, we had no luck. Our sever said "I'll be right back" and then we was her walking around the whole place but never came back for our additional order. Food: We got the mezze platter. The hummus and pepper dip were clearly from a jar. Even the pita bread was heated in a microwave. It was definitely not from an oven. Seating: Indoor seating only has high chairs and outdoor seating isn't well designed for any big sized person. Some diversity in the type of seating would make people comfortable. read more

The night we went there was a band, it was crowded and loud, you couldn't really hear conversation so we moved outside to their space on the river side. We stopped for lunch while on our own little winery road trip & this by far was our favorite stop! The building has so much character, inside/outside seating & a full menu. We chose to sit inside as it was a windy day, decided on a few flights of wine so we could taste as many as possible & ordered food. We got the Pesto Chicken Sandwich & Shrimp Tacos. I would not change a single thing on the sandwich. Full chicken breast, bacon, amazing flavor with the Pesto sauce, cheese & the bun.. Omg, the dried tomato herb focaccia - 100%! The Tacos had good flavor & the sweet pepper slaw was amazing!! I've never had such a sweet slaw like that. We would only suggest more sauce & coleslaw on the tacos. What a fun spot. The views are incredible and I don't think you'd have to worry about being here on a hot day. The gusts of wind cool everything down. We each had a wine flight which is your choice of 5 from the long list of options. The friendly staff and warm environment opened us up to make new friends also traveling through Dubuque. Every single one of us left with a bottle of wine. This isn't your typical winery so don't come in here with a wine snob attitude. A great location for the wine tasting room in the old Dubuque Star Brewery and they also now serve draft beer. Right next to the Shot Tower and steps away from the Mississippi River. They are pet friendly and have a very nice outdoor seating area. Unfortunately, the wine is mostly sweet wine. If you enjoy sweet wine Stone Cliff is recommended. There is also a limited food menu. We did not try any of the food but saw several tables having pizza and other snacks. We did taste the Chardonnay and Rose. The Chardonnay did not have a lot of taste and the Rose was quite sweet. The day we were there they were out of our favorite- Riesling. We ordered the goat cheese appetizer and the charcuterie tray for our group of 4. The charcuterie tray at $20 was a rip off. The goat cheese at $12 was thoroughly enjoyed. The wine samples are skimpy, served in shot glasses. Beautiful interior suitable for hanging out. We traveled to Dubuque, IA specifically to visit the winery and we were not left disappointed. The interior of the winery gave an Italian feel and great outdoor scenery. Service was alright, nothing special but nothing to complain about either. As for the wine, we decided on the 5 for $15 sample wine flight which we found to be reasonably priced given the size of the samples. The only downside was the wine list, there was not a wide selection. Our favorites were the Purple Cow and Strawberry Rhubarb! Stopped by here on a Friday evening about 6pm. The winery is located on the first floor of the Dubuque Star Brewing Company building in the Port of Dubuque. We were disappointed that there were no tastings being done due to COVID-19. They did however offer for us to sample the wines before we purchased a glass or bottle, which we were much appreciative of. We sampled the Sweet Raspberry wine as well as their Jazzberry wine. Both were excellent. We settled on a bottle of the sweet raspberry wine, which we highly recommend, and headed outside for the live music. On Friday nights from 6pm-10pm they offered live music. The band Secrets had just stared playing and they had tables, chairs and canopies set up in a roped off area. The seating with tables was full, but along the back side of the building there are three stepped stones into the landscaping of the hill for people to sit and enjoy the music. We sat in the shade from the building on these stones and actually had a great time. Just over the hill from the stones you can see a gorgeous view of the river. Stone cliff is an adorable winery on the Mississippi perfect for a night out! I had the wine flight, of which I chose 5 wines out of a hefty list to try. All of the wines I tried were good, especially the sweet raspberry (if you like sweet wines). We also had mozzarella sticks and southwest chicken egg rolls which were both very good. Specifically the egg rolls were fantastic and I have never had anything like them before. The only reason for only 4/5 stars was that the service wasn't great. After making our initial order of food and wines, we never saw our server again. We were at the restaurant for ~2hrs, the last 45 min of which we waited for our server to bring our checks. She never did bring our checks so we made our way up front and had the lady at the bar get us our checks and paid them there. I have been here twice, both times I was not greeted, given a menu, or talked to. So be prepared that If you want something you gave to go up to the bar and ask. The pizzas are low quality, not sure about the other items. But the pizzas are only one topping, not substitutions, which makes me think they're frozen. So $18 for a pizza does not seem reasonable when they're frozen. The vibes are good when there is live music, and the wine is good. The only thing is it's mostly sweet wine. This was our 2nd time coming here to this winery. My fiancé loves this restaurant/winery because they have really good food and wine. We where on the way back to our place and thought about this place and said why not we're only about an hour away let's give it a try again. We arrive at 1:15pm and they are open for lunch until 3pm. The ladies greeted us by the entrance and told us to seat wherever we wanted to. So we did, we hadn't even sat down completely when a younger girl comes up to us and asks if we where having lunch. We said of course we just drove an hour to come here. She shrugged her shoulders and lets us know that it would take about 30 minutes to get our food because she had just placed four consecutive table orders. Then proceeds to ask if we still wanted to order. Umm we just told you we drove an hour to come here because we loved it the last time we where here didn't we? So we ordered as followed. My mother in law and fiancé both had the Cuban sandwich with a side of their delicious potato salad. I had the Sammy panini with potato salad as well. The food is so good I must add. We also had the mazzi appetizer sampler. Pretty much it comes with three ramekins. One had hummus, another one green and Greek olives. And the last one had a red pepper purée. It's served with pita bread and plenty of mozzarella cheese balls which are fresh as well as sport peppers stuffed with ricotta cheese. So the 30 minutes the girl told us was a complete lie lol. Appetizer came five minutes after placing order and the food followed within minutes. Let me tell you they switched servers not sure if the first girl felt embarrassed and she realized she made a mistake but it's ok we got our food. We also each ordered the wine tastings. For $5 you get to try 6 different types of wines. I say it's a really good deal because they don't skimp on the servings. I had to knock down a star because of the attempt to send us packing. However this place will continue to be one of our favorite spot when we visit the Dubuque area. For any of my yelper friends if you guys happen to be in the area please give this restaurant/winery a try. I guarantee you won't be dissatisfied. read more

We stayed here as a Harvest Host member overnight. Jon, the manager, bent over backwards to make us feel welcome. We enjoyed their wines as well. I tried a glass of Purple Cow (sweet desert wine) and Pineapple Wine (another sweet wine) along with a Sausage Pizza which was surprisingly good!!! The Mississippi River Walk is right there as well as the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium just a block away. After we shared some wine, we walked along the river and watched a barge travel up river at sunset. The only drawback is that there is a train track close by and it is simply parking in the parking lot of the winery, no vineyard. The actual vineyard is 14 miles away. The next morning we experienced someone parking directly in front of us, so we couldn't hookup and leave until I located them. (Not the winery's fault) read more

One of the appetizers was a meat and cheese platter for $22. No issue with the $22, we were given 6 crackers for 3 blocks of cheese and 3 meats . We had requested more crackers.
