While the lucky few dined on an seemingly unending breakfast buffet, morning DJ Pat Prescott broadcasted her morning show. A live band entertained guests with their spot on covers during commercial breaks. At the check-in table, we submitted our information for periodic raffle draws during the 3 hour broadcast. Unfortunately, winners had to be present to claim their prizes & I had to go after an hour. 2 drink tickets were given upon entering. I had never been to the venue prior to this show. The service is exceptional! Right when my girls and I got to the venue, we were greeted by the security guard. Jayden was so friendly and polite. Inside we were greeted and because there weren't many people inside we had our pick of seats. Our server, Pie, was amazing! Throughout the show she'd check in. I will definitely be back.

I'm not going back until they fix the venue. Newport Jazz Fest, in May, with it's temperamental temperatures, needs to switch with Jazz Fest West in July, where you're sweltering and sweating. Rules said no high-back chairs, umbrellas, etc. So I left my gear at home. I get there, and not only do folk have high-backed chairs and umbrellas, but canopies. Yes, canopies! Well, I had heard that the year prior, some people fell out from heat stroke. But point being, just have no rules for anybody, then we'll make it work. My friend said, "Pay for VIP." Pay an extra $300 for bathroom rights (needed ladies!), and a chair under a canopy. I'd just rather buy a cruise ticket and play my iPod. Knowing this, what drew me out? Jill Scott and Charlie Wilson. But no more! Live and learn.

Every seat is literally 15 feet from the stage. If you're going, you better love the band and their music, because you will be right in the middle of it. Second, there's every type of baked potato imaginable- except "baked potato ropa vieja" - suggested by Luis Conte himself! Third, yes you need to stand in line before going in - worth it if you love the band that's playing. Sr Conte and his boys knocked it out. There were several guest musicians, and - surprise, surprise! - Andy Garcia himself joining in; he and Sr Conte are pals. If you haven't heard this group play, you must! And if it's at the Baked Potato, all the better. Will be back soon...

They pack in a lot of people though so it can feel a little cramped. We enjoyed both of our potatoes (Philly cheesesteak and chicken fajita, which was the special that night). They were giant and we would probably just split one next time. Service was good. I wasn't expecting how cold it would be inside! Next time I'd wear long pants and bring a sweater.
