They sound amazing. We saw them at the movie on the beach. Will definitely see more of them!

ALTER EGO wasn't even on my radar until tonight, and now I'm wondering how on earth did I miss this…read morelittle slice of date‑night gold? HELLOW! This hidden gem lives inside the newly renovated Fairmont Breakers in Long Beach, and for all my Fairmont regulars: relax, you're in good hands, their world-renowned elegance remains intact. PARKING Valet is only $10, which in Southern California basically qualifies as a love language. (Note to Fairmont Breakers Management: Listen up, my friends! Please keep it that way, gas is $5.97/gallon and my wallet is already in therapy.) I handed the valet a $5 tip before I even stepped out of my car, just so I could glide into the lobby feeling like a full‑blown princess making her grand entrance. Before you leave, you simply pay the valet in cash or card and they'll have your car right there before you can even blink. AMBIANCE Walk in and boom! A towering, beautifully decorated Christmas tree greets you like it's auditioning for a holiday movie. Check out my photos; the whole lobby whispers one word: sophisticated. Oooh, I love that tree! Hang a right, stroll to the end of the hall, and you'll find ALTER EGO, a dark, cozy lounge that feels like the perfect hideaway for a date where you actually want to hear each other talk. Live music starts at 7 PM, the bar closes at 10, and honestly... that's ideal for those of us over 50 who consider 10 PM the witching hour for pajamas. Rob Fontana was performing tonight, and his music was so good I found myself time‑traveling back to the good old days. Every song hit, Rob. Good job! SERVICE Our server, Nia, was a star. Attentive, sharp memory, and smooth service all the way through. Zero notes. FOOD The menu is small, so if you show up ravenous, pace yourself or plan to Uber home after a cocktail‑heavy evening. I'm allergic to cheese, so I had to double‑check ingredients, but the Mushroom Flatbread was outstanding, flavor was superb and the best part was they did not skimp on the mushrooms! A+ for that. I also tried the Prosciutto di Parma with melon, which is a strange combo for a California girl... but hey, I never said I wasn't a weirdo. Drinks are not my thing since I enjoy company without alcohol's help, so I can't help you with that. DATE‑WORTHY OR NOT? Absolutely. Alter Ego gets a double thumbs‑up from me and a strong recommendation for your next Silver Singles date. It's easy to find, the seating is comfortable (even for those of us with backs that like to complain), and they even offer tube pillows for extra support. Tell me that's not romance.

While the lucky few dined on an seemingly unending breakfast buffet, morning DJ Pat Prescott broadcasted her morning show. A live band entertained guests with their spot on covers during commercial breaks. At the check-in table, we submitted our information for periodic raffle draws during the 3 hour broadcast. Unfortunately, winners had to be present to claim their prizes & I had to go after an hour. 2 drink tickets were given upon entering. Always fun, a photobooth was setup for poops & giggles. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/94-7-the-wave-listener-appreciation-breakfast-seal-beach?select=NMyxc6kugnqb-MBSN3c6hA Assorted Pellegrino drinks, champagne & mimosas were available for ticket redemption. Complimentary coffee, orange juice & water were the other options. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/94-7-the-wave-listener-appreciation-breakfast-seal-beach?select=9xvWNKCYOf1KS2uNo-YbdA https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/94-7-the-wave-listener-appreciation-breakfast-seal-beach?select=IVVvuWqu99weLltrrX4PCw I was so glad the buffet line split between both sides of the table, each side mirroring the other with trays of food. Otherwise, there would've been a stampede of hungry Wave listeners. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/94-7-the-wave-listener-appreciation-breakfast-seal-beach?select=5RJn4dyrhxN9nBirGwskQw https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/94-7-the-wave-listener-appreciation-breakfast-seal-beach?select=-IxyP8MzMcwGTOdGX5c1uA https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/94-7-the-wave-listener-appreciation-breakfast-seal-beach?select=aX_S-yMSJim_ht3vwyzHuA https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/94-7-the-wave-listener-appreciation-breakfast-seal-beach?select=Eic25Bxy-IGQLcWA420cMQ https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/94-7-the-wave-listener-appreciation-breakfast-seal-beach?select=u_G1-ie84t8KOp90nxHpog https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/94-7-the-wave-listener-appreciation-breakfast-seal-beach?select=IKDq_qkf78M7SmsXmLewUA After 2 heaping plates, 2 cups of coffee & Pelligrinos there & to go, I had to bid adieu to the festivities. Congrats to all the lucky prize winners. Funny, I was taking the last scraps of bacon from the tray, and the lady behind me said "Are you gonna save some for me?". Hey, it's not fortuitous to be behind me at a buffet line. Know what I'm saying? ;p Good thing the staff at Spaghettini were at the ready to refill any food and/or drink which were running low. Gratitude to 94.7 The Wave & Spaghettini for a delightful morning of jazz & breakfast. My tummy was content & I enjoyed being around other lucky people having a great start to their day. Not to mention, I have new profile pic selections for when I want to change things up ;p https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/94-7-the-wave-listener-appreciation-breakfast-seal-beach?select=1La_-XbcE3xcFqynMblWDA

Had a fabulous time at this club! I came on Tuesday, May 19th to see Tanerèlle with a friend. Show started at 7, doors opened at 5. We arrived ~6. That timing was perfect tbh We had ample time to get situated, validate our parking, order and devour our food without stressing about hurrying up for the show. The only way to experience this venue well is to get there early. Only issue with this place is the food, perhaps unsurprisingly, is very overpriced for what it is. I paid $40 for a salmon dish that resembled a dish I could easily make at home. Home. It was just salmon, mashed potatoes and broccolini. Nothing to write home about. And they pull world-class talent in such an intimate setting. I'm so grateful we have a jazz club like this in LA now. Will be back!

The concert was everything! Digable Planets | Yes, please! The group was amazing! Jazz Rap at its finest, as Butterfly, Ladybug Mecca, & Doodlebug took the stage! Their vibe was easily smooth and their lyrics flowed with ease! I love the interaction with the crowd as well! Good vibes all around & a whole lot of flavor! Inside | Elegant decor, moody lighting, and the velvet blue curtain stood front and center, as well as the stage set up with equipment for the musicians and recording artists!! There was a variety of seating areas! Some were right by the stage, others were at wide velvet chairs near the back, including seating at the bar! It's actually a large space, once you step inside! We selected a table right in front of the velvet chairs, which was perfect! Not too close to the stage, not too far, but just right! I would easily select the same seating again! Outside | We were met with blue velvet ropes, which fit the theme & name of the venue! We easily found parking at a meter nearby! Food & Drinks | Order $20 per person plus ticket price! We both had a drink, sure the delicious olives and I also had a few bites of the olive oil cake. I would try something different on my next visit! Overall | The Blue Note as an elegant venue that I would easily go back to, depending upon who is performing! We had a great time!
