The meat rotation is fast, and everything was actually hot and perfectly cooked, the picanha and the lamb chops were incredible. Usually, at these places, you fill up on the cheese bread, but the quality of the steaks made it worth saving room. Even the salad bar had better high-end stuff like candied bacon and good cheeses. Service was fast, attentive, and they kept checking in to see if there were specific cuts we were waiting on. It's definitely on the pricier side, but for a special night out where everyone leaves stuffed and happy, it's worth it.

We came on a Sunday mid morning and since we had lunch plans later, we only snacked on a bit of the food. Service was super welcoming and inviting. It was like visiting a family member's or friend's home. Lady was super nice. Ambiance is very casual and you can tell that this is a community favorite too. Food came out quickly and was fresh. We got the: 1) Coxinha: -This is a popular Brazilian street food which is a deep fried croquette with chicken and cream cheese. -Delicious, light breading and the potato part is fluffy and the chicken is moist and all of the filling is plentiful and seasoned to perfection. We also got to try this with their home made chili sauce, nice delicious heat. Good stuff. 2) Pao de Queijo: -A MUST for my friend and I whenever I see them available. -Super yummy Brazilian cheese bread. I love the delicately light crisp from the exterior, slightly chewy dough, and of course the cheese inside. -Addicting and delicious snack. I can easily munch down several of these and the quality is good here too, especially since it's made fresh! We also got the bottled juices, imported in from Brazil. Mango and guava were like nectar juices, super yummy and the pistachio one was pretty unique. Our table also ordered the Brazilian lime alcoholic drink, but as a non drinker, I can't comment on this. Definitely would like to come back here again the next time we're in SD.

The new interior design is beautiful and much more modern. It makes it inviting from the start. Service was great all around from management, to our server, to the hostess, to the gauchos. We were repeatedly asked if there were any specific items we wanted brought out, which we really appreciated. My favorites were the BBQ pork ribs and the picanha top sirloin. There are a couple options for Brazilian steakhouses downtown, each having it's own positives. For Rei Do Gado the stand outs are the service, the salad bar (the most hot options I have seen), and the price! I also really liked that the salad bar had a couple of dipping sauce options especially the Rei Do Gado sauce. I also noticed that the usual sides that are automatically brought out at Brazilian steakhouses such as the fried bananas are part of their salad bar here. I think this is an amazing solution to prevent food waste! A lot of these side items are left untouched at other restaurants when they are automatically served to the table. Overall, I would return and I would recommend!

Our waiters were friendly and very attentive, consistently making sure our drinks were refilled and our plates cleared without us having to ask. While the service truly stood out, the food quality was a bit underwhelming. The salad bar offered a wide variety of options, but the quality didn't quite match the variety--it was nothing extraordinary. For the main course, we opted for their top "all you can eat" meat selection. The meat itself was decent but didn't impress beyond that. The ribeye was the highlight of the evening, although it was served infrequently. On the other hand, the filet mignon we tried was somewhat dry. Considering the price, you might find a better steak dinner elsewhere. However, if you're looking to sample a variety of meats with unlimited access to a salad bar, Rei Do Gado could be a good choice. Overall, it's a solid option for those who value variety and attentive service, even if the food quality isn't exceptional.

My sister did not receive her entree until almost all of us had finished eating. And when my brother in law received his California burrito, he had requested no pico. The server marked "no pickle" (which wasn't been listed in the ingredients anyways). They were apologetic and took it back, assuring us that it would be back out "in like 2 minutes". It took quite a bit longer than that and he ended up eating later than the rest of our party too. It wasn't the end of the world but it was inconvenient. Overall, we did enjoy our food and brews.

A server who happened to be walking by finally took our drink order and brought us menus. She recommended the carne asada fries, so we ordered those along with chips, salsa, guacamole, a Coke, and a Long Island Iced Tea. Even though it wasn't busy, it took about 15 minutes to get our drinks. The guacamole was the star of the meal--fresh, flavorful, and honestly some of the best I've had. It was absolutely delicious! The carne asada fries, however, were a huge disappointment. For $24.99, there was barely any carne asada on them. They were mostly French fries with cheese, guacamole, pico de gallo, cilantro, and sour cream, with very little meat. They also lacked flavor and definitely weren't worth the price. The fresh guacamole saved the meal, but the slow service, being ignored at the bar, and the overpriced carne asada fries made for a disappointing experience

I ordered 2 beef empanadas.  Took 8 minutes to make and it came out hot with a crunchy and flaky crust.  Loved the texture.  Inside was very good quality ground beef.  Very tender with no chewy bits.  Flavor was a little salty and I didn't like a flavor which I think was from the olive.  Excellent empanada as long as you like the olive flavor. Guaraná Antarctica soda is a drink I only see at Brazilian restaurants.  Love the unique flavor of Amazon Rainforest fruit. Brazilian food is a fun array of different flavors from a variety of regions of the world. It's simplicity is iconic... I ordered 2 flavors of Golden Bites: Hot Dog and Ham & Cheese. Both were absolutely delicious! The Beef & Olive Empanada was also very good. However, I did not see any olives inside of the empanada, and the dough was rather thin and flaky like a form of filo dough. This is definitely a different style of empanada than what we are used to here in San Diego... The Milanese dish consisted of fried chicken fingers, french fries, with rice and beans. One thing about Brazilian food to consider is that the fare has much less in the way of spices, condiments, and accoutrements than what we are accustomed to in the United States. For example, the french fries had no salt on them, the beans had no pepper, and the rice was short grained minute rice with no butter. Even the chicken fingers lacked a bit of flavor when eating ala natural. FYI: Even the Brazilian Bis dessert, a Kit Kat-like wafer, had only half the amount of sugar that we put in sweets here in the U.S. However, all of this was an easy fix... After adding catch up and mustard to the hot dog Golden Bites, salt to the french fries, pepper to the beans, a little bit of butter to the rice, and their Chipotle mayo to the chicken fingers, then the food satisfied the taste buds. I also ate the Brazilian Bis dessert with some ice cream, and it was delicious! I gave them 4 stars instead of 3 for several reasons. First, Lucas was extremely nice and welcoming! This goes a long way in the restaurant industry... Second, culturally our food is overloaded with salt, pepper, sauces, and other condiments, so I tried to be respectful of their culture and the way that they prepare their food. Third, The Golden Bites were something special! Thank you to Lucas & his wife, as their new Brazilian Coxinha Store is a welcomed addition to the Mercato at Sorrento Valley!
