She moved all their stuff and the 2 children to one of the small tables so the bigger table could be cleaned for us. They were a little short handed that day (owner said someone called in sick), so just the owner and cook were working. Bother owner and the cook worked fast to clean the table so we could be seated. More people came in after us and sat in their outdoor seating (a little chilly to sit outside that day). The owner did a great job serving all the customers by himself. The cook would help deliver the cooked food as well and help with customers if he wasn't cooking. The owner was apologetic about the slower service, but in actuality, it wasn't bad. As for the food, we ordered our usual, the Picanha Steak Platter (feeds 2-4 people) which is our favorite and over the best deal. Unfortunately in the past 2 years the price has gone up by about $20 (currently $70.99), but is still a great deal for 5 steaks on a sizzling platter (cooked to the doneness you want), rice and beans. The meal was delicious as usual. They have other great selections as well. Check them out for some great Brazilian food that is made to order.

Maybe the instability and menu changes from change of ownerships caused Flame & Fire's previous expectations to diminish, from the first two times I patronized this place back in 2022 and 2023. The meats I had this last time were not as tender, though still juicy and well seasoned. But to overload the salad and sides buffet area with mostly heavy, thick, excessive sauces over most of the pastas and veggies was a turn off for me. There was what may have been a fruit ambrosia salad but I had to ask why I had to dig into the deep tray to identify the fruit. For similar pricing the other two have far better presentation and preparation of buffet displayed items besides the meats. Those other two restaurants have visually and healthier looking yet delicious sides and salad varieties to accompany their meats. The breads, soups, desserts and more are far more palate pleasing than the disappointment I had just before this place had to close. I preferred to drive past Flame & Fire this year to add more driving miles and time to enjoy the other two, one is on Roseville Park/Galleria Blvd, and other is on Eureka Rd.

We were the first group into the establishment when they opened on a Saturday for lunch, and were seated second. Staff was friendly and accommodating, and explained how the process worked. Inside gave off a sophisticated, clean, and upscale vibe. After seating, they directed us to the sides bar, which had an array of high quality foods to fill up on before the meat arrived. I tried to grab one of each, but of course had to maintain space for the meat. There were salads, carbs, and other appetizers galore. There was also a sanitation station with instructions for glove use. Once the meat arrived, they initially came in one big wave, table by table. My personal favorite was the picanha, but they also asked our table if we were looking for a specific meat. Chicken hearts were requested and soon brought out. I wish they had a list of available meats so it was easier to order and learn all the different types. Surprisingly, the table bread was my favorite. I crave it once in a while. Service was quick for the first few rounds, and staff kept an eye on our cards to see who wanted more (green for yes, red for no). After a few rounds, I noticed the servers came out less often, and possibly missed my green card (as I was sitting toward the wall). For your birthday (or anniversary or other listed events) you can get specific desserts for free or a discount for the flaming cheesecake (which I had to do like come on!). It was pretty cool, but careful with the taste after. Definitely more of a show piece, all the alcohol made the cheesecake bitter. My main complaint would be the water. Our waitress asked if we wanted drinks, and we declined, but then she asked if we wanted spring or still. We got two bottles before we realized we were going to get charged (I thought it was complimentary). I wish that had been communicated better.

But that I could call back to find a compromise. My irritation was that they opened at 11:30 am, and didnt check their scheduling for the day to figure out that they had overbooked and call me earlier. We had already made other plans before dinner since we had the 6:45 reservation. We were celebrating a birthday, and had to pivot our plans to another location. Unfortunately, the overall dining experience felt very different this time around. Almost immediately, we noticed a much faster tempo of service and what felt like excessive attentiveness. While good service is appreciated, it reached a point where it became disruptive. Between the multiple servers, managers, and gauchos continuously stopping by our table, my wife and I could barely get through a sentence of conversation before someone appeared to ask how everything was, whether we needed anything, wanted more bread, water, sauce, a clean plate, or another round of meats. There was also a constant sense of being upsold throughout the evening. We were repeatedly encouraged to purchase a bottle of wine, try tequila shots from the roaming tequila cart, or upgrade to the 24-karat edible gold-wrapped top sirloin. While I understand restaurants promote premium offerings, the frequency of these pitches started to feel more like pressure than hospitality. What was most frustrating was that even after flipping our table indicator to red, which is supposed to signal a pause in meat service, the interruptions continued. At that point, we simply wanted to enjoy our meal and spend time together, but it felt like we spent more time interacting with staff than with each other. Ironically, the nonstop interruptions caused us to eat much faster than we intended. For two people, the bill came to nearly $300 after my 18% gratuity. The food is undeniably good, but for a special occasion like an anniversary, the experience matters just as much as the meal. Sadly, this visit felt more rushed and sales-driven than relaxing and memorable. We'll remember the quality of the food, but we're not sure the overall dining experience justifies the price anymore. Matt had been talking about Brazilian steakhouse every time he saw something that reminded him remotely of Fogo de Chao, so I figured this opportunity might be of interest to him. Come to find out that the day after I make the reservation he asks if I'd be willing to go a Brazilian steakhouse for the long weekend, so I got to surprise him with the fact that I already had a reservation. I'm not the biggest fan of Fogo de Chao based on my prior experiences there. I do believe that I have been to a Show de Carnes location before and had another great experience, but also Show de Carnes's Memorial Day promotion was slightly better than Fogo's and I much preferred that their location was outside of the city even if on the other side of the bridge. I did have to call the morning of to delay our reservation slightly, but it was taken care of for us without hassle. We even got seated closer to the original reservation time when we ended up running early. There isn't much space to wait in the front lobby area especially on a packed night, but everything looks very upscale from the wine bottles on the wall to the crystals above the self-serve side buffet. As far as mandatory meats, I have a couple of personal rules when it comes to Brazilian steakhouse, including go light on the sides and only go for the beef. Picanha is my favorite, extra rare too, so I made myself a whole pincanha meat salad while probably giving the guy cutting the meat a good scare. The grilled pineapple is also a must, followed by the cheese and honey. Matt got a lot more variety but it takes a while for the guys to come around with meat that has already been sliced up some so I can get to the parts that I like. We got a papaya cream and passion fruit mousse for dessert, which we probably really didn't need but enjoyed thoroughly as we are both dessert people. As it was a busy night, it was not too easy to flag a server down. I saw picanhas skip our table left and right so I'm not sure there's an established route for them to bring the meat around. The staff did seem to work together with great teamwork, and someone always stopped by to make sure we had more water and our choice of sides. I would definitely go back and recommend it to anyone that is a protein or all you can eat fan. The regular price per person is definitely steep in my humble opinion, but if you can catch a promo it'll be a great time. Also, don't choose between still or sparkling, ask for tap.
