    Lovely waterfront dining

Gorgeous waterfront dining with views of Mt Pilatus in the background, great authentic Swiss food, good brews. What more could one ask for? This place was super relaxing and a lovely way to spend an hour or so just dining on the water, taking in this unbelievably stunning city. We enjoyed a huge plate of perfectly cooked veggie spaetzel. The noodles were cooked just right, and peppered to spice. The veggies in the dish were plentiful and crisp. We also had a large, hot salted Bavarian pretzel, which was offered topped many ways and a traditional savory cheese pie (which looked like a quiche). The kiddos LOVED this dish! It was served with a small side salad on the plate. We enjoyed everything immensely!! The menu is in both English and German, and most of the waiters speak but also. This place was packed and is definitely a hot spot! I highly recommend stopping by if you're in town! It seems like it's the pace to be! There are strolling performers for some entertainment too! So bring some Swiss francs if you're one to tip. The menu offers a plethora of options from larger and certainly more expensive hearty plates to simpler snacks to share as a group. Whether you're looking to just sip and chat or totally dig in, they have you covered. The brews are definitely a draw for most though! Mostly everyone was throwing them back. There was a super laid back, no rush feeling to this place we loved. Service was typical slower European fashion. Would absolutely dine here again and would suggest if you're in town walking the river to do the same! It's just so lovely!

This was a great place to get a casual bite to eat and local cuisine. We sat outside on the patio. It was great for people watching because it was right on the river where many people walk. The beer was good. We ordered a pretzel and bratwurst sausage. It came with a sweet mustard. It was a great meal and very filling. We also had apple strudel with whipped cream and vanilla sauce. It was everything I imagined it would be! The staff were very attentive and friendly. This was definitely a great time!

I love the fact that I was able to grab an ice cold beer with hot pretzel while enjoying the view of Lucerne. This was quite the place to relax and have a drink while engaged in conversation and really enjoying the beauty of Switzerland. Feel free to sit down when there is an open seat or ask to share a table with others. Brauhaus is extremely packed with many who enjoy their break from exploring Lucerne as well. I can't get over the location of Brauhaus which makes it the perfect stop any time of the day in Lucerne! Staff is super friendly although it can get quite busy here. You may have to flag down a waiter to get some help, but it is definitely recommended to sit outside and people watch!

We ate here our first night in Lucerne and it did not disappoint! The food was delicious and the service was excellent. My fiancé got a house beer and he said it tasted delicious! I had the orange soda, and it was also very good, and much different than the Fanta we get in the states. I had the rotisserie chicken and potatoes and it was absolutely delicious... it comes with a garlic cream sauce and I wish I could bottle it up and take it home! My fiancé got sausage and a pretzel. He isn't a big sausage fan, but since we were here we figured we should try it once. He said it was good. Prices weren't too outrageous. The atmosphere was nice and it was on the water and near the chapel bridge and in an excellent location, as it's close to the bus, trains and boat. Great choice for dinner!

Brauhaus was so awesome we went twice during our 2 day visit in Luzern. The beer is great, the pretzels are great, the outside views are outstanding. Definitely a bar atmosphere, don't go looking for fine dining. However, this was our favorite restaurant while staying in lucern! Right on the water & so beautiful. Our meals were delicious: one was sausage and sauerkraut with spicy mustard, the other was sausage and a pretzel with sweet mustard. Definitely a must stop for lunch or a casual dinner in Luzern!

This was amazing Swiss / German food & very authentic. They were very accommodating & made a special dish upon request. The schnitzel was awesome & the staff was very helpful & great with English.

LOVE this restaurant! Would definitely eat here again on my next trip back to Switzerland. I got the beef and my partner got the rotisserie chicken which were both very good entrees. The service was also fabulous and i honestly have no cons. The restaurant location is perfect and convenient.

Good place for a beer and quick bite. Great location overlooking river. We had the beer sausage and a pretzel sandwich with beef. The interior was cool too.

Food was mediocre at best. Definitely not worth the price tag for the quality of food you receive.

Loved this place great view of the city and water. Our waitress's accent was almost as great as a the beer, and their sausage was perfect.

There were a few other 'beer geeks', I'm assuming, out braving the cold for fifteen minutes before Volta opened its doors at 17.00 this evening. We were, fortunately, let in a bit early and greeted warmly by the bar staff. One may either order at the bar or wait to be served at table. We opted for the former. The 'tender was both friendly and upbeat, in an American way, actually, and ordering was a charm. One is also able to pay straight away or start a tab. -so nice to have the option. What struck me most about Volta was its design. The place has very ambient (read: dim) lighting, the kind I find so very appropriate for a lounge/pub/bar type joint. Volta seems to have benefited from an incredibly savvy interior designer as well. It's decorated in a mix of natural wood and metal furnishings. The floor appears to be polished concrete. The floor has a mix of two-top bar tables, narrow counter-like spots, group tables and window seating. Industrial-looking light fixtures hand from various points along the ceiling and I spied at least one free-standing, old-timey Hollywood spotlight. -really lent some charm to the place. The music was a curious blend of Andrew Sisters-meets-Techno that Volta had playing just a few decibels louder than the nearly empty place warranted. It was both a bit off-putting and distracting. The menu is comprised of things to nosh on, wines, spirits, and, although there are six tap handles at either beer station behind the bar, only two beers: an IPA and a lager. We each ordered a wee nibble and two IPAs. My order of 'salted lard' (my translation) was ample (seemed about two tablespoons' worth) and served with lovely, warm slices of bread. I enjoyed it very much and felt it to be a good deal at 7 franks. The pair of Weisswürste mit Senf and a hefty Swiss-style (read: soft all over) Brezel--garnished with sesame seeds not salt--(13chf) went down well with the hubs. The 3dl (just under 12 oz) glasses of IPA were fine, not fab. The usual bite I've come to associate with IPA was missing and Volta's is a more floral and less 'hop-y' brew than I'm used to. There was also a sweetness to the finish I hadn't expected. It's a well-made beer, but not what I am looking for in an IPA, unfortunately. I'm encouraged by the number of tap handles and would expect that Volta will unveil more in their beer repertoire as time goes on. A nice Porter would be much appreciated in the upcoming Winter months, am I right? Given that this place is a stone's throw from the Novartis complex, I can well imagine Volta becoming *the* go-to spot after work. For Basel, Volta is a mini-revelation, and, I would imagine, will be leading the burgeoning brew pub scene in town. **generous outside seating **toilets shared w/ adjoining music venue

First the beer. Outstanding. I'm a big NEIPA fan and wouldn't normally order this in Europe but decided wth... it was fantastic. The kind of NEIPA I'd order on the regular back home. Also had a Hefeweizen bc I had to. Also great. The food. So they have a small tapas menu but was looking for more, so looked at the dinner menu. Unfortunately the dinners didn't fit in my company allowed price range (Switzerland is way too expensive), so tapas it was! Honestly it was perfect. Cheese w chutney, salami, falafel and some local meatballs. All delicious and filling. Great experience. Just lower your cost Switzerland and I'd try more! I'll return next time I'm in Basel.

Delicious craft beers, a friendly bartender who spoke perfect English, a comfortable space to sit inside (heated area outside) and a speedy wifi. This was a superior spot. BRAUEREI. You got my attention!…read more We landed in Zurich for an overnight layover, and set out exploring the concrete jungle that evening. We were looking for a place that was vegan/restriction-friendly, and originally decided on the restaurant right by Steinfels. But after looking at the menu, we all agreed this was the better choice for our group of six, in terms of food selection and prices. Holy moly, my fellow American yelpers will also balk at the prices once you take a peek at the menu because meals will definitely be $25-$40 for dinner for one. And that's just for a dish! So the boo and I split a tuna burger, which was so tenderly made and perfectly seared. I loved that the staff put in extra effort to cut our burger in half after we briefly mentioned to the server that we'd be splitting this meal. It's the little things that matter! Portion sizes were the perfect amount of filling--not too much or too small. I eyed my friend's cauliflower starter which was literally an uncut head of cauliflower...which did not look easy or appetizing to eat. Service was very friendly and swift. They were pretty full, but didn't have to wait at all to be seated by the hostess. Our waiter didn't speak English that well, so we got another guy who was great and cracked some jokes with us. We all got beers--the weizen was yum and the perfect amount of zingy flavor and hops for my tastes. Beer is literally the best way to destress, amirite? We also got water upon being seated, which was great to keep us awake and rejuvenated. Their restrooms are very clean, although a bit closer in quarters compared to most restaurants back home. I just didn't feel anything spectacular from Steinfels. We didn't have any other dinner place to compare it to in Zurich because we only had one night here, but referencing it to places back in the States and other cities in Europe, this was nothing much to write home about.
