Once I got a truck, I found myself coming here several times a week to purchase mulch, driveway mix, gravel, compost, topsoil. They also sell chainsaws, weedwackers, and leaf blowers (they are official Stihl, Husqvarna, and Echo dealers). The mulch, compost, and top soil I picked up from them was great quality! The best I have seen from anywhere! Even better, their prices are great and they deliver! The customer service is great! I've worked the most with, Alex and Jen, if I arrive at 7:01am or 4:55pm they are always fast, pleasant, courteous, and professional. The staff has been super knowledgeable about their products. When I went in to look at a new chainsaw Alex asked me a bunch of questions to better understand my needs before making recommendations. (The prices were very competitive to what I've seen at big box stores.) I had them repair my weedwacker, they did the work quickly (called me to let me know it was ready) and it works better than ever. FYI, it seems like they repair pretty much everything, sharpen chainsaw blades, and work on lawn mowers and tractors.

Their location is cool convenient right on 102 but the end of the drive could use some fill in the pot holes. Drive slowly. We go back because they are locally owned and like to support our community. Here is a tip -- if you have the time -- go to both this market and the one in Lanesboro at the Berkshire Mall. They are at the same time and are only a few miles apart. The difference is that most of the Lanesboro vendors get their produce from the Pioneer Valley (Springfield / Northhampton / Amherst region). Their growing season is a little different. So, sometimes you will find fresh strawberries in one market and fresh blueberries in the other.

So we shopped around and were getting ready to leave, and the owner/manager proceeds to say to us "are you going to pay for that cream in your bag". We were completely taken back. My aunt had no idea she didn't get rung up for the few items and because of the accusations that she was a common thief, she left her items on the counter and told them to basically shove it. How dare they! Instead of the owner saying to us that she made an innocent mistake and didn't ring her up for the few items, she followed her around instead and then accused her of being a thief as if she were a common criminal. My aunt is such a good thief that she was hiding her items on the top of the table!!! The owner had MULTIPLE opportunities to approach us and tell my aunt, I'm sorry Ma'am, but I made a mistake. I didn't ring up those items. Instead, she chose to accuse her!!!! What disgusting behavior from a woman who is in a customer service business. She was rude, disrespectful, condescending and accusatory. Wow, were we shocked! My aunt even said to her, I paid for these items--the owner tells her NO, you didn't--I didn't know those were yours on the counter when I was ringing you up! WELL then whose fault is this---certainly not OURS! What horrible, terrible behavior. And then to be followed and glared and stared at as if she is a thief. This was a HORRID EXPERIENCE!!!! Even with an apology (which the owner owes my Aunt) we will never be back and We would NEVER recommend this business to ANYONE. We brought home milk and ice cream. When that ran out and we returned to our regular 'store bought' milk, I was like 'what am I drinking?' You don't know how good High Lawn Farms milk is, until you don't have it any more. If I lived near here, this is the only place I would get my dairy. Now, the ice cream! So, so, so good! It's not overly sweet. The flavor is just right. Again, not over done. It's 'light'. I don't know how to explain it. I got two scoops and when I saw how much ice cream that was I thought I'd 'never be able to eat all that.' But the ice cream texture is light, not heavy. It's still creamy, but not in the same way as my local farm made ice cream is made. It's light and those two scoops were just the right amount. The store offers more than milk and ice cream by the pint. They also sell a selection of High Lawn farm cheeses and frozen cuts of beef among other things. Besides the store and the ice cream trailer, you can visit the cows and calves in the barn. There are also older calves in the field by the ice cream trailer that you can pet. They come right up to the fence looking for pets. Anyway, you can see I am a fan of High Lawn Farm. Go. Don't think about it. Go. Get the ice cream. Get the milk. Compare it to your 'regular' dairy.
