We love to take a train ride whenever we visit somewhere new. This trip was no different. When we saw Branson had a scenic railway, we signed up for it right away. The depot was nice, bathrooms were clean. Plenty of items to choose from in the gift shop. Smooth ride, scenery was nice, and the music played was suiting and enjoyable. Only thing I would say I didn't care for is the push for live entertainment. While waiting to board the train, they had a crew member sing a couple of songs. She also walked up and down the cars while the train was in motion singing to the guests. Not saying anything negative about her singing, just not what we expected for a train ride. Would recommend if you're in the area. read more

Seating is a little crowded. Other than the two tunnels (which are very cool), the view is primarily foliage. The snack cart is limited but good prices. We did not do the dinner experience and we are happy about that. It seemed like a pretty long ride for as limited of a view as you have and we were in the "domed car." Speaker was too faint. If you're looking to kill time in Branson and want to do something unique take a 1.5 hour tour on the Scenic Historic Railway. Take a trip back in time and view the Ozark Hills via a glass dome train car complete with snacks, drinks, local talent and mingle with strangers from all over. I recommend booking the First Class Dome car as the views are practically 360°. It does get hot in the car (think Greenhouse) so dress accordingly for the weather. Your First Class ticket included unlimited beverages and a boxed charcuterie lunch (not bad) and a gift of a tote bag & keepsake tumbler. the onboard "entertainment" was "meh" so I suggest you enjoy this excursion with a good attitude and make some new friends while riding the rails. read more

just got off the train and our entire car was complaining about how awful this experience was. This train traveled so slow through miles of woods. There was no scenery, just the tops of trees. The folks not sitting in the upper, glass dome car had an even worse view of weeds ! we saw no water (except when we pulled out and pulled back in to the statio, no beautiful fields, no mountains, no animals, nothing but the tree tops (which we couldn't see over). to top it all off the girl comes around taking pictures which she wants to sell back at the hefty price of $40! what a rip off. We sat in the domed seating. And it was worth it. The views are beautiful. The narrator spoke just enough and gave interesting information. The train ride was a train so not perfect and smooth but it is a train. Cars were well maintained and comfortable to sit in. Spend the money to get the dome you will see more! Because of the routes scenic wooded route you do see a lot of trees so if you don't want to be looking at nature untouched or manicured then this is not for you. There is a bit of walking to the train. And two of our cars loaded and unloaded on the gravel so if walking is hard for you... but they did have someone in a golf cart carrying people to the end. read more

The train ride was very comfortable. Train smooth and felt like floating on air. Its a 20 mile total ride. Takes about 2 hours . But you see nothing but very dense rock and trees within 5-10 foot from the train on both sides two and from the WHOLE ride. . You go through two dark tunnels. The staff was so sweet and accommodating. One of the staff was the narrator and gave you a little bit of history. Probably a total of five minutes. I'm glad we did it, but would not do it again. read more

Very overpriced for the lack of scenery and views. We were glad we didn't pay for the dome as the views were no better. Staff were working hard to keep us happy, but it was basically a train ride with a snack for $150 for two. Cars were nice but you can't both have a window seat unless no one else is at your table. We could have saved a lot not getting the snack. They take your pictures and try and sell them for $40 but after the ride was such a letdown we didn't buy it. Very popular tourist trap that I wish I had avoided. The staff is very nice, but the experience just fell flat. You get to ride on a neat old train. They have old 1940's music playing throughout the ride. But it's an hour and 45 min of trees and weeds. It's not nearly as "scenic" as it's made out to be. You can't hardly see anything. There are a couple highlights where you go over an old trestle and get a good view, you go through a couple tunnels, but those are over in just a matter of seconds. Overall, would not recommend. One of the people in my party loves trains and was pretty disappointed in this experience as well. We were expecting something much more "scenic." The snack cart had a pretty long line. Food items were moderately priced, which was a nice surprise as we didn't get a chance to have breakfast before the trip. Very dull train ride. Ride in the upgraded dome car and were knee-to-knee with strangers across from us. At least the train ride at Silver Dollar City is "honest" about their train robbers. This was our first time experiencing the ride, and we did the couples dinner option. It was a little pricey, but hey, dinner on a train is pretty cool. The scenery was as good as we thought it would be, but we still enjoyed ourselves. Food was way better than anticipated. BORING!!!! We have taken several wonderful train rides around the country and saw beautiful mountain ranges, rivers, farms, but not this excursion. TREES, TREES AND MORE TREES. Absolutely NO scenery, NONE. We could have stayed home, sat in the front yard and enjoyed our trees and saved $280.00 (there were 4 of us) and enjoyed a beer and some music of our choice. The conversations were so loud we could hardly speak with each other face to face. The employees were very friendly. If it was anywhere but Branson, it probably would have cost $30.00 instead of $70.00. What more can I say. read more

We all had HIGH expectations but turned out to be pretty boring! No beautiful scenic views just trees and old run down buildings. My dad and brother are both super active and possibly borderline ADHD; they hated it. They wanted to take off running the moment we seen the landing. Not the most exciting train ride for sure. I'm sure if you just want a quite, boring, and able to spare 2 hours of your life this is for you. I personally don't recommend. This has been a Christmas tradition for my son since he was three. This has been a great trip until last December of 2024 where we found out it has changed ownership.. it was definitely corporate run and lost its magic.. no hobo joe no dancing and accordions .. definitely cut out lots of things and when we asked the staff we were informed it has been bought out. It was disappointing, I looked at it again this year and the prices have increased quite a bit and now the cookies and hot chocolate are just one serving , it use to be unlimited.. Unfortunately, my experience with Branson Scenic Railway was very disappointing. I paid $70 for a "scenic" ride that was primarily a view of trees on one side and a rocky hill on the other with an occasional glimpse of historic structures and points of interest. If you looked VERY quickly. Additionally, sitting literally knee to knee with other passengers was not comfortable. I would rate my experience a 3 out of 10. We went today with our group of friends. WAY overpriced- no views- moldy-smelling trains with tacky decorations. The audio was either too loud or you couldn't hear it. Honestly, we waited a whole year to do the fall foliage trip and it was the biggest disappointment and waste of money I have ever spent. I DO NOT recommend this trip. unfortunately this was a complete waste of money and time. I should have picked up on cues from the beginning. I bought three $40 tickets in person from a woman working the counter who acted like she didn't want to be bothered. Then once on the train we saw nothing but mostly trees the entire way. it's hard to hear the narrator throughout much of the ride depending on where you are sitting. also, this ride has a very intrusive photographer who pressures you into taking a photo during a random part of the ride and then comes back around to sell you that photo you never wanted to take. in our case the young, heavyset girl with glasses insulted us by just handing over our picture and just standing there. she then said she was confused and the quietness wasn't helping. I asked her what was the question or intent she was trying to make. let's just say I found her to be very off putting and overall this was pointless and there are SO MANY other things to do with your hard earned money than waste it on this ride through trees. you can take much more interesting routes in your car and save $40 a piece doing it. read more

Scenic should not be in the title. We did many things in Branson and love them all with the exception of the scenic railway. It's basically a train ride through the trees. Zero scenic views. If you're wanting to experience a short train ride, this may be the tour for you. If you think you're going to see something beautiful in the Ozarks, save your money. read more

We rode the dinner train last week. It was fun, but overpriced, in our opinion. They don't offer a Military discount which is odd in such a military friendly city. Our salad had water left in bottom of the bowl upon completion, so it was frozen at some point. Our prime rib & vegetables were luke warm, but still tasty. Lettisha aka Lety was awesome, our water & tea glasses were never empty & the rolls w/butter were amazing. The 20 mile out n back ride into Arkansas was ok, but tall trees close to rail line kept us from a good view. There were a couple places along the way with enough opening to see the fall colors. Sadly it's one & done for us. Lastly, there is no way to guarantee that you will go north or south until day of & it is due to the rail traffic. Or that's what we were told. This is a cool experience, but the scenery isn't much to look at. The photo attaches is the best view we got and it was at the end. Mostly trees and a couple long dark tunnels. The food was alright, it was disappointing to hear at the end that it was catered from Golden Corral. The wait staff was very nice and they handed out roses at the end which was a nice touch. Overall, it's fun for a unique experience on a night out. But it is underwhelming compared to the description read more

When this attraction first opened Iʻm sure it was "scenic". Unfortunately, in 2024 all you see is trees, 99% of your view is obscured by overgrown trees & bushes. Our meal was good but not worth the price we paid to see trees. read more

We had a great time. All the staff was wonderful. The Train cars are all taken care of very well. The concession booth is fair pricing. You get to relax and look at the landscape, will be even more beautiful in the fall with the leaves changing. I think it's important to remember it's not a Disneyland ride or a show off the Strip.
