Highly recommend happy hour at the bar - great specials, food was delicious and bartenders were attentive, yet not overbearing.

After our less than stellar experience the first time we came here, I had given honest but constructive feedback on OpenTable regarding the restaurant. The manager had reached out to me on OpenTable and offered to send me a gift certificate to encourage me to come back, so we did that last night and our experience was AMAZING and truly one of the best meals we've ever had even with some of the sides, not being our favorite. We happened to have an entire area of the restaurant to ourselves and our waiter was attentive, gave great recommendations and was friendly. I had a piña colada sangria and a glass of sweet riesling, both of which were excellent. My boyfriend had two old fashions which he also really enjoyed. Once again, we were blown away by the appetizers. The crab dip is probably one of the best things you can get here. The grilled Caesar had excellent flavor and the shrimp were a good size. They were offering a special Wagyu steak that evening, which I decided to get and my boyfriend had the 12 ounce New York strip. This was my first time having Wagyu and it was cooked perfectly, medium rare to my liking and just melted in my mouth. We also ordered sides of plump crab meat so that we could top our steak with it, mac & cheese, mashed potatoes, and shredded brussels sprouts with bruschetta. While the mac & cheese and shredded Brussels left more to be desired, it didn't lessen our dining experience in the least. We ended dinner by sharing a delicious crème brûlée served with a biscotti (not picture because we ate it too fast!) If it hadn't been for the manager Michael teaching out to let me know he heard my feedback and offering a gift certificate to dine with them again, we probably wouldn't have come back, given this is about a 45 minute drive from the city. But I can honestly say that this experience completely changed our view of the restaurant and we will definitely be returning for future celebrations. read more

We do frequent Brandywine and always look forward to the ambiance and food. Tonight, the bartender was Jeanine and was so pleasant and attentive. Really loved it! We sat for dinner tonight and had Craig as our server. It was not crazy busy on a Tuesday night. We always love the quality of food. My husband had the filet mignon and I had the seafood ravioli. Both were amazing. We spilt the chopped salad and could not believe they charged $1.00 for splitting the $14 salad between the two of us. Really? After a $70 steak, you charge a splitting fee? The principle does not sit well with us. The service, unfortunately, was not what I expect. He did get tables all at once, which I understand, but we felt like our table of 'only' two was a burden. I really do not like leaving a restaurant feeling like that. All in all, the food is always amazing from a taste perspective. The bar experience for a couple cocktails is also always great. They really need to work on the service aspect in the restaurant. Customers should never feel like a burden. We do love the ambiance in general and the quality of food has not disappointed. read more

I love going here, but tonight our dinner was awful. We ordered burgers and they were smushed into a plastic container. The bun and burgers were smashed and the bun was soggy. The burger was dry and salty. Not juicy at all! The french fries were stuffed in another container and over cooked. I won't be returning. Terrible sloppy food! read more

We had a baby shower for my daughter at Brandywine Prime last weekend and we were all thrilled with the event. We had 35 people attend in the room next to the bar and it could not have been nicer. We chose a chicken dish and quiche for this brunch and both were delicious. Michael worked with my wife on planning and he was great. On the day, Stephanie coordinated the service and made sure we had everything we needed and Mike on the bar and other servers were also great. Come hungry, leave insulted. This is a tourist trap, and the best thing about it was the waitress we didn't have. We heard her chatting with the guests a few tables away from us and wanted to leave HER a tip. Our waiter was a grunter, not even providing bread. He didn't going over the menus or the specials. Went here for dinner on a Saturday night. Was looking for an upscale steakhouse with prime cuts of steak. This restaurant isn't the most upscale steakhouse we've ever been to but it wasn't bad. Just don't go here looking for steak that melts in your mouth. The food was good though and our server was very friendly and attentive. The bartender was incredibly rude. He ignored us and then told us he'd get to us when he could. We left the bar and went to our table. The food was very mediocre for the prices they charge. they also nickel and dimed us. Someone was charged for fancy olives she neither ordered or received. We were charged for splitting a $14 salad. Dinner also took way too long, even for a large group. We eat out 3-4 times a week and it never took this long. read more

My gentleman and I haven't been out in quite sometime due to overworking and covid issues . I personally felt rushed by our server (Diner like style) and didn't get same service as another table , Our server only mentioned a few specials. We overheard another server mentioning so much more. When we walked in around 6:30 for a 7:00 reservation, the place was packed. We managed to sang two seats at the bar and the bartender came to us immediately. He said he would let the manager (owner?) know we were there and he would come seat us when our table was ready. Apparently the hostess called off and, while I'm not positive, I think it was all hands on deck everywhere as I will talk about shortly. The martini and cocktail my husband had were fantastic and even though I am positive the bartender was swamped, he never appeared rushed or flustered. When we were seated, I noticed that a young man was re-setting a table in what was clearly not the uniform. Not that it's a big deal but I also noticed our waiter, who was superb, had what almost looked like a chef's shirt on over regular jeans. The other wait staff had on all black and a different style shirt. I'm only mentioning this because even though it seems everyone was pressed into service, we had some of the best service we've ever had. Our waiter was quiet, polite, and always there just when we needed him without ever hovering. Again, even though the place was packed, no one appeared rushed and everything seemed to go very smoothly. The food was fantastic. Yes, the prices are high, but for the portion and absolute quality of what we were served, they were worth every bit. I had a dozen Wellfleet oysters that were so fresh I would have sworn we were in Cape Cod. My ribeye was perfectly black and blue and my husband's porterhouse was delicious. The sides were also wonderful: shaved brussels sprouts, onion rings, and asparagus tempura. Dessert was a fried apple pie with vanilla ice cream that was TO. DIE. FOR. You can't beat Brandywine Prime. The food and presentation is always top tier. In particular, the Grilled Pacific Octopus is incredible. The octopus is so flavorful and I love the combination of the mustard sauce and salmon roe with it. I order that every time I visit Brandywine Prime but no matter what you order, you can't go wrong. Most of the time, the service is professional and efficient, although when I went a few weeks ago, our waiter was pretty slow and forgetful. I'm guessing it was just an off night! Definitely make a reservation, especially on a weekend night. read more

I've been to Brandywine Prime several times in the past. I just dined here again and it wasn't the same. The filet mignon was dry, the creamed spinach was beyond creamy but like a pound of cheese was dumped on it. I wanted filet Oscar style but the waitress said this couldn't be done? What kind of steakhouse doesn't have asparagus and can't add crabmeat? Our waitress said I could purchase the crabmeat cocktail for an extra $22. I had some leftovers and the waitress brought out plastic wear to pack my own food to go home. I despise this! For $145 per person, no. The ambience is beautiful. Great bar, nice drinks. There could be some additional red wines added by the glass. Maybe Italian or French. Hope these suggestions are taken into account because the other times I have been here were 5 stars. Excellent meal. I was there for a private group dinner, so limited menu but everything was good and service was great. They have a full bar so of course I started with a glass of Cab before everyone was seated. Bonus points for warm bread and soft butter before the salad came out. I enjoyed my salad, but I heard the soup was good too. My steak was perfect and filling. I don't usually opt for creme brulee anymore, but this one had a bourbon flavor, so of course. Brandywine Prime is an upscale restaurant with a comfortable vibe. The food was pretty good, but the service was fabulous! My family loves it here and I just recently went for happy hour. I have a well to do relative that enjoys fine dining at high end restaurants in the Wilmington area. She enjoys a good meal and good service after an art or theater show. Brandywine Prime turned out to not be that place. The food was good, but overpriced. The service was terrible. For what they charge, the wait staff should be much more attentive. Our waiter had the attitude he'd rather be anywhere else but there. My relative order soup and he dropped it off and ran off. She had no spoon. It took forever to get one. He failed to check on us often and took forever to refill out water glasses. If this was one of those chain steak places, we'd have been more tolerant. But again, for the prices, it wasn't worth it. Our group of four had a fantastic experience here last weekend! The food was incredible and everyone was thrilled with their entrees. Two of us had the Special, a dry aged Rib Eye that was worth every penny. It was cooked to perfection, and soooo juicy and delicious. Worst place we've ever been!! Our son took us out for our Anniversary and server had a poor attitude as if we were bothering him and smelled like baked in cigarette smoke and as well as appearance I.e dirty Jeans and Bp shirt. I would have walked out but had to endure because out of respect to our son. I am all about taking care of local business but people should to be kind and courteous because they not only represent themselves but also The establishment. I would rather go to Antica because their staffs are awesome and goes above and beyond even though I don't typically enjoy Italian food. We eat out everyday and it was really hard for us to stomach such a behavior from server especially it was a pricey place. I would ignore if that was from fast food place. Went with a party of 4, everyone had steak: Waygu Ribeye, Filet, and two in the party ordered the Delmonico Ribeye. Over $500 with tip, and not worth that price point. Steaks were prepared as ordered, but lacked flavor. Same could be said of the sides--nothing jumped out as 'OMG I can't wait to order this again!'. We hosted a retirement party at this little historic restaurant in a cute little village in the country. The building is ancient and lovely. Parking was tight in their small parking lot. This is a steak house and decorated in a bovine motif. We reserved the upstairs for our party. Cocktails and appetizers were served in an open area where we could mingle Behr wine was very good. Appetizers included little mushroom pies and another little pie that I could not identify. The mushrooms were delicious. The staff was friendly and took great care of us. They were very attentive and somehow managed to serve all 25 of us at the same time. Orders were perfect. The chef checked on us during the meal. I selected Caesar salad, pan seared swordfish with smashed potatoes, green beans, and a yummy mustard sauce. The salad was delicious with a fresh dressing. The fish was delicious....tender, flavorful and paired wonderful with the mustards sauce. The spuds were good. I also selected a fresh berry cup for desert. Raspberries, strawberries and blueberries were large and fresh topped with fresh whipped cream - which I should have not eaten but I did. The dinner was wonderful. I'll be back next time I am in Philly. This is a great place to come for a special evening. read more
