The worst customer service I've experienced in my entire life. I've been shopping here for years for my daughter's dance supplies. I was sold faulty tap shoes in September, the elastic strap never buttoned. We always just used the ties that are also provided and what was used during try on- which is run as a strict experience where parent input is not welcome and you are not left with the product to inspect prior to purchasing. However, for her recital, I am told that she must have the elastic strap. I drove 25 minutes to explain and ask for a strap that probably cost about $.50 and could have been easily pulled from another box of shoes, but was told that she could not help me, there was nothing she could do, it was too long ago. I highly recommend never to shop here, spend your money where your busieness is appreciated. read more

Needed a last minute emergency hair bun donut and pins for a dance competition and found this shoppe via an online search. They have quick online ordering that worked flawlessly and when I went to pick up my order- they were out of the specific bun donut I ordered but substituted a more expensive donut, the exact color and size that I needed at no additional charge! They were so kind and friendly too. I wish I lived nearby so I could become a full-time customer but will remember them anytime I am in the area. We have been customers here since my daughter started dancing at Anna Marie Dance Studio 7 years ago. My son started 5 years ago, and they have always been amazing. Very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about all things dance. The owner, Stephanie, is not only a former dancer herself, but also a dance instructor still. For a small shop, they have an excellent and extensive variety of dance shoes and clothing. The staff is so kind and super helpful. HIGHLY recommend!! read more

All I can say is wow, never again. I simply called to see if there was white tap shoes because that's what my daughter needed for dance. This sales associate was HORRIBLE! Theres a sale starting this weekend and I asked if I should come in for the sale not ever being to the store. She told me to come in now if I can or I can wait but if I wait until the sale I'll be waiting a long time..........great customer service #1. Then I saw a pair of white tap shoes on their website size 9W for $10. she proceeded to tell me with great attitude they have none online for $10 AS I WAS LOOKING RIGHT AT IT ONLINE!!!! that was great customer services #2. Told me that she was busy doing whatever and she had to go but is there anything else I needed. TAKING MY BUSINESS ELSE WHERE. In this day and age when small businesses have to compete with both the internet and big corporations, and good customer service is going the way of the dodo, it would behoove the owners of these small businesses to give the best customer service possible. I am a champion of small businesses in my area and do all I can to promote and patronize them. Unfortunately I cannot do that for the Brandywine Dance Shoppe in Wilmington, Delaware. I recently made a shoe purchase from this store and was given very good customer service by the woman who helped me. I was happy with my purchase and wore them comfortably the next day at rehearsal, but decided to make an exchange for a more flattering higher heel. Before doing so, I carefully read the receipt for the exchange policy. The receipt read: NO REFUNDS. STORE CREDIT OR EXCHANGES ONLY. I was relieved to see that they made exchanges. When I got to the store, I talked again to the same woman. She turned my shoes over and told me my shoes were too scuffed to honor an exchange, even after wearing them only once. I told her I was confused by this because it didn't say anything about this on the receipt. She was very polite and apologetic when she was talking to me, but then the owner decided to rudely interrupt our conversation with raised voice to tell me that customers should just assume that was the policy. Here is what I assume: 1. All aspects of a store's return/exchange policy should be clearly stated on the receipt. 2. Customers should never have to assume anything. Customers should be treated with courtesy and respect at all times. I regret to say this, but AVOID BRANDYWINE DANCE SHOPPE. Buy your character shoes at ZAPPO's or DISCOUNT DANCE. They allow exchanges, and refunds, no qualifications or questions asked, and you don't have to deal with an owner with a bad attitude. read more
