One young man ( can't remember his name) helped me look for the skates but unfortunately the ones I wanted were not in stock. He went to the computer and offered to have them shipped. The service here is very friendly and welcoming. They have a huge store with sucha variety to choose from. Outdoors, softball, philly sports clothing, fishing, soccer, basketball, football, they even have areas to test the products like batting. Obviously the eagles are going to the Super Bowl so I had to pick up some gear they had so much to choose from. The Super Bowl items were not on sale, but so worth it. They had a DJ in there today playing music. Great atmosphere! read more

Well it appears I'm going to be part of the community of folks whom Dicks doesn't want to sell sneakers to...AWFUL HORRIBLE customer service. Seriously thinking about starting a support group. After 25 to 30 minutes of deciding on a pair of sneakers that I wanted to purchase I had to deal with the worst know it at all older guy who was so busy giving unsolicited advice to people that he blew me off. The management team cannot successfully run a meet and greet event. We went to the cooper dejean meet and greet and there were people wrapped around to the Nextdoor target. They should've given wristbands or cut the line off so people did not waste 3+hours in line. They let small children and disabled people stand in the snow knowing they had no shot of getting in while the employees took the brunt of people complaining. Please take this as a chance to reflect and come up with a better strategy. They could've assessed the situation halfway through and made some hard decisions to cut the line off or have there been limited number of signed posters. This is a sign of weak management or a management who looks down upon their customers. Your customers are human please treat them as such. read more

I stood holding shoes - obviously needing help. One employee walked by me looked directly in my eyes - and kept going. He had just wrapped up with a customer. It was not busy. I went to the other shoe section and asked if I could get help in the cleat world. He said oh , 3 people are working there , you're good. Just scan the shoes at the kiosk. Huh? Again, it wasn't busy. Trash everywhere. Employees have NO IDEA what customer service is. They have this huge new set up and looks better than the sh*t show it was before. But it's the same sh*t show. This Dick's is gigantic! (Pun intended). Seriously, though, we came in for some weights and RJ helped us out. We had to take the display because they didn't have any in stock, which was fine, but I wish we would have gotten a small discount (we were spending $550.00, after all). Usually stores I've been to before will give you a discount if you have to take the model item, but whatever, it's not a big deal. The lines at the check-out were LONG. I mean, really. Get some extra cashiers, people! Or maybe just ring stuff out quicker. read more

Huge store in a new-ish mall outside of Wilmington, steps from the PA line and of course, featuring their tax-free shopping experience. The store is very well stocked except on Winter gear (skis, boards, etc.) although I hope that later on in the season these selections make it to the shelves. Fairly large bicycle section along with repair technicians. And a huge selection of electronic exercise equipment. If you're looking for a one-stop shopping on sports items, this is it. What a disaster buying new running shoes here! It is now all self-service with no help from any staff. The entire inventory is stacked right in front of you - cramped places to sit and lace up some try-ons. Boxes all over the place from people who don't put them back. Walked out and over to New Balance Brandywine where I was treated like a real customer. read more

I was not happy when I first came into the store, the associate that first helped us (Thomas) seemed as if he was annoyed that he was taken from his task to help and couldn't get away fast enough. Then we went to the shoe department and met Corey. He stopped what he was doing, looked for shoes in the back, advised us on the best inserts, etc. Simply stated, he went above and beyond. Just went to pick up my online order for Christmas. The process couldn't have been smoother. My wife and I had another terrible experience there today with a mixup with a "20% Throughout the Store" coupon not being applicable to ANY of our purchases. As I was purchasing my new women's skates the checkout gal told me that I could buy a special deal: for $8.99 I could bring back the skates for a new pair (mind you not for a refund) if, within 12-months of having purchased them, "a heel fell off or something". I asked what would happen if I did not buy this special guarantee and if, like next week, there was a defect. The answer: "you'd have to buy a whole new pair of skates". Is this a new thing? Dick's doesn't stand behind their product unless you pay extra? If so I suggest this be posted prominently by the product and well before one stands in a long line. I really wanted running sneakers - I went a few years ago and got a great pair and great service - the past three times I have visited, I've been ignored by at least one staff member and annoyed another by asking questions and he told me to order what I wanted online... We purchased a goalrilla hoop with install. It was a horrible experience. We were not told by the Dick's manager that there might be extra costs (beyond the $350) to have the hoop installed. I was told by a rep with the 3rd party (the company delivering & installing the hoop) that if our current hoop was in cement that we would need to pay more for the removal. I told them I wasn't sure if there was cement underground holding it in, but said that I assume there is. Rather than having someone come out and survey the area like we were told would happen, the rep proceeds to tell me I will be paying $500 for the removal & disposal of the old hoop! What?! So now between removal, disposal & install I'm up to $850 to install this hoop?! That's a significant piece of information Dick's need to share with people! I call the manager who helped me and he was very rude and not very helpful. He did however have a manager with the third party call me, so that was good. It ended up costing me $150 to have the old hoop removed and hauled away. It's not because they cut me a deal. It's because someone finally told me that we could install it a foot over from the old one which would save me the extra $350. We finally get the hoop installed and checkout the mess they left! I'm attaching pictures. They left a pile of dirt and all the trash! I find this disrespectful and lazy. I fear good customer service is nearing extinction. read more

So I approached the store a bit warily, as the entire front entrance windows are completely covered by advertisements and you cannot see anything beyond. Inside is shockingly crowded with displays, to the point where I was unable to push a small shopping cart from the shoes area to across the store to baseball equipment. So, abandoned the cart and walked out. There seemed to be a lot of staff, but what is the point if a shopper is literally blocked from walking from department to department? Also, though it seems like a lot of choices, I found limited variety in camping, baseballs and boys clothes. Seen better elsewhere (in fact went around the corner to Target and found what I needed). Customer service is awful. I used to live local and frequently shopped at this store but now live in Nevada nowhere near a Dicks store. I was visiting Wilmington last month and stopped in the store to buy a Philadelphia Union t-shirt. Upon my first wearing of the shirt after I got back to Nevada, I find that the seam along the side of the shirt isn't complete and there is a hole. My emails to Dicks corporate website asking for assistance have all gone unresponded to and when I called the store to explain my situation the guy tells me "there's nothing we can do, you have to come into a store for an exchange or we can't do anything". What don't they get? I don't live anywhere near a store. Good customer service would have been asking for my address and mailing me a replacement $30 shirt for the poor quality product they had on their shelves. What lousy treatment of someone who had been loyal to the store. read more

Your Wilmington Delaware location is a complete joke! First it started off with cleats that are sitting on the shelf that employees cant even find the other match to. To signs advertising, "free glove steaming" until you get up to the register and they tell you the glove has to be a certain price. Then to top it off I get done spending $150.00 and the employee "forgot" to ring up a baseball bag, she scans it and says "59.99" I walk another employee directly over to the rack that THE SAME bag Is sitting on marked with a sign that says $34.99 his response was "Oh one of the other employees put the wrong sign up." The kicker, HE DIDN'T EVEN REMOVE THE WRONG PRICE ADVERTISMENT! Nothing but one problem after another and the employees we're ZERO help and completely lack any sort of customer service skills. Needless to say I returned everything she didn't forget to ring up and will go spend my money elsewhere. Complete waste of a trip! read more

I was at the Acme store at the Rt 141 end of Concord Pike and called to see if Dick's sells U of D sweatshirts or t-shirts, as my daughter needed a shirt for a school photo. I was cheerfully assured that "Yes we do!!" so I drove up Concord Pike, figuring my frozen food groceries would be okay because it wasn't too hot and sunny outside yet. When I got there the store's back wall looked to be half collapsed, with much of the store roped off and inaccessible. Of course the UD stuff was beyond the point where people could go, lest the wall tumble down on them. A clerk pointed to a small rack on the other side of the rope, with some golf shirts and one style of t-shirt, which was a dark gray, not UD blue. She said that was all they had. Why would the clerk on the phone basically lie to me, not tell me that they had only one t-shirt style that isn't even UD colors, no sweatshirts, or if they do have anything else it has a fallen wall on it and can't be retrieved? Should the store even have been open? Anyway, won't go here again. read more
