Hard to find a bird Veterinarian. They got me a apt in a timely matter. Dr was pleasant.

Started the Puppy Package about 2 months ago when I got a new Border Collie. I booked my first appointment after my dog decided to eat some foam earplugs. Dr. Barrett saw me the same day, gave my puppy her shots and sent me on my way. I came back a few short weeks later to update all vaccinations and I didn't have to wait long, was able to make payment quickly and be on my way. I like being able to go to a vet and not have to sit around waiting. I can get in and out of here in a reasonable amount of time. The staff is very friendly, the place is clean, they have treats and toys in the waiting area if your dog or cat gets bored. I see a lot of people come in with exotic pets, parrots, etc..., they also provide equine care. Prices are great so far, I decided to do the Puppy Package without the microchip or spaying my animal, it was about $90 if I recall and I can pay $60 on my first visit and $30 on my last 2 visits. read more

I was blown away by the lack of professionalism and the arrogance of the vet. He spent less than 7 minutes with us. He seems to not have a ton of knowledge and an unwillingness to even discuss anything. Would not recommend going there. read more

We have used Doctor Barrett for many years because we felt he actually cared about our animals. Now it's nothing but the dollar. Bloodwork $400 x-rays office visits crazy. When did veterinarians become as much or more than a medical doctor in charge of our own human lives. I guess the turning point is when they realize they can exploit owners love for their pets. Disgusting we will never go here again. I don't know if there's any vet out there any better but we're going to try to find one. It's sad so many animals need good homes. You take them try to take care of them give them love. But when they get sick veterinarians do nothing different than the medical system these days exploit people for their money. Freaking sad. I have to make a choice now about putting my dog down because we cannot Afford the expensive prices Of this office. Never thought I'd see the day when you walk into a veterinarians office and they tell you is kind of wild outrageous prices and looking square in the eye and think nothings wrong with that. Other vets (in the Patterson area) were telling me to put down my cat for a broken leg because treating him would cost "thousands of dollars". Instead I took him to Dr Barrett who cared for my cat as a matter of course and surprise, it was not nearly that expensive. Dr Barrett has cared for dogs and cats in my family over the years and consistently proves to be the best vet in the area. read more

I am very disappointed with Community Veterinarian Clinic here in Turlock. I have been using Community Veterinarian Clinic for years. I started my Doberman puppy, Bella, on their "puppy plan" for about $100. On the final visit, my puppy was 4 months old, Dr. Brandon Barrett spayed and microchip'd her. 6 hours after bringing Bella home, she was dead. Each previous visit, the staff said Bella was "the picture of perfect health." I took her body back in the next morning to be examined, Community Vet called an hour later and stated that they could not find any problem, that their work was done exactly right. Dr Barrett also stated "if I were to do this procedure again, I wouldn't do anything differently." I wish I had taken Bella to a different veterinarian; not only did Dr. Brandon Barrett / Community Veterinarian Clinic kill my puppy, they would not take responsibility. read more

I have been fortunate enough to never have gone through The heartbreak of putting a fur friend to rest. I only met Sammy once the second time being when I picked him up with my fiancé to take him for his last ride. It was heart wrenching and traumatic. Though I did not know him long I burst into tears and watching the heartbreak of saying goodbye in their eyes was enough to break The strongest of persons. Dr. Barrett came in with such a soothing tone & loving spirit... many tears later and a soulful "it is done" touched my heart and soul, never have experienced such empathy and I have been around several human deaths. More than plenty of time after to give our last cuddles and farewells... I am almost sure of the staff was passed clocking out time, w/o complaint! :-) soulful farewells were given. We have been bringing our dogs and cat to Dr Barrett for several years. We tried the other vets in the area prior to making Community Vet our primary caregiver for our animals. One morning, several years ago, my dog came in and her head was swollen to twice normal size. I frantically called the other vets who said they did not have time to look at her. I called Community Vet and they said, "bring her down." Dr Barrett saw us right away and immediately diagnosed her as having an allergic reaction to a bee sting. Yes, my dumb dog chases and eats bees. He treated her and she was fine by that evening. All of my animals that had surgery here were 100% great. He is honest and he does not have to set his prices to pay for outrageous overhead of a huge building. I highly recommend Dr Barrett and Community Vet! read more

Dr. Barrett fixed my dog's eye after two botched surgeries at Monte Vista Animal Hospital, and he got it right! Monte Vista was still going to charge me almost $1000 for a surgery that they messed up the first 2 attempts within one year. Dr. Barrett also gave me a great payment plan (since I was broke paying off Monte Vista--I was still paying them off when I scheduled the 3rd surgery with Dr. Barrett). Dr. Barrett is highly recommended and knows what he is doing! read more

My boyfriend and i have several bearded dragons and we were referred here and we took 2 in with respiratory infections and he gave us antibiotics which he said would get rid of the infection. After giving them the meds they stopped eating and within a few days they died. I wouldn't recommend coming here with your exotic animals read more

Fine for companion dogs and cats. However, he is not that knowledgeable in exotics. I brought in 2 rescue ball pythons that had respiratory infections. He did prescribe Baytril unfortunately. However, I must emphasize that he did not take a culture, which is a must with reptiles. Baytril is overused in reptiles and many strains are developing or have developed a resistance. Baytril also causes tissue necrosis when injected SC. And PO medication is pretty much rendered useless in a slow metabolizing animal like a snake. He also said the snakes will be fine as long as they had UV Light to bask under. But ball pythons are nocturnal. They do not need UV light. Nor do snakes benefit from light like lizards, turtles, or tortoises. One of the snakes did pass away within days. The remaining snake was taken to UC Davis and treated properly. read more

He is a big fish in a small pond. He's not as experienced with exotics as he lets himself on to be. He killed my rabbit. I even told him what I thought was wrong. He told me it was impossible. I went to another vet, they told me I was right. He was starving, and I had to put him to sleep within the week. This man needs more education. Do not take your pets to him. read more

Dr. Barrett is AWESOME. He really cares and he really knows his stuff! A while back I had pet mice and a rabbit that saw Dr. Barrett. We saw Dr. Barrett on many occasions through the years. I had my bunny for several years and I had grown very attached to her. She was potty-trained and she followed me around the house, sat on the sofa with me during movies, etc. She was my first rabbit and I was surprised at how much personality she had! In some ways she was like a dog! I arrived home late one night and found that she could not stand up. After a bad experience that night at an ER clinic where she was diagnosed with a broken femur, I picked her up the next morning and took her to Dr. Barrett. By the time I got to him I'd been crying a lot already. He carefully explained our options and I decided to go ahead with the surgery, even though it was risky and difficult. Dr. Barrett had a successful surgery, but after it was over my bunny managed to cause another fracture (something we had been warned about). I had no choice but to put her down. Dr. Barrett stayed past business hours so that my family and I could say our good-byes. Dr. Barrett was always professional, but always caring. He is skilled and knowledgeable and was always very good at explaining things to us and answering our questions. I never felt over-charged for any of his services! BOTTOM LINE: You know a vet is awesome if you can say "Thank you!" and mean it after he just put down a beloved pet for you! I would proudly recommend Dr. Barrett to anyone with pets, but especially to owners of rabbits! read more

We have went to several vets over the years and could never find one we were happy with until we came to Community Vet in Turlock. After the first visit here we knew we had found our vet. Dr Barrett is great! We have now been going here for several years and will continue to do so. The staff is efficient and professional. Everything is always very clean and if anything gets slightly soiled the staff is there to clean it up right away. We are always seen in a timely manner, no long waits. Dr Barrett has always been 100% right in all his diagnosis. He is accommodating to our questions and concerns. The prices paid for care or meds are much less than you would pay anywhere else. Dr. Barrett is a wonderful, attentive vet. Our puppy got into some food she shouldn't have eaten, ended up bloating, and was in serious danger of having her stomach flip (which is quickly fatal). Dr. Barrett was very concerned and went to work immediately on her with x-rays, medication to make her vomit and kept her for a few hours for observation. We are happy to report she is back home with us and out of danger and it wasn't nearly as expensive as I expected. Dr. Barrett delivers great care to my animals. The wait for an appointment is very reasonable and the caring for animals is terrific. Dr. Barrett is excellent at explaining the animal's condition, what to expect, how to administer medicines or other treatments, and answer any questions. I really appreciate his diagnostic skills and his clinical sense. My animals are older and require a bit of a balancing act to keep them healthy and Dr. Barrett does a very good job. Plus, Dr. Barrett takes care of my daughter's pets and my dad's diabetic cat. He has taken our family through new young pets all the way to euthanization when it was necessary. Our family couldn't be happier with the care our pets receive and the courtesy with which we are treated. I can pop in on my lunch hour to get medication refills, call first thing in the morning for an appointment..........always treated with respect and a quick response. dr barrett is awesome. i have taken many pets to him including a reticulated tiger python. i feel he really cares and will try to explain things so you can understand. i moved down south and my vet here was pressing me to do an expensive surgery on my cat, long story short i took him on a road trip for a second opinion and possible surgery turns out he didn't even need it!! also have a friend the vets were telling to put a dog down and she took him to barrett, who shed sone nrw light on the situation and now her dog is a whole new guy and in great health! read more
