Even tho my vet appt was cancelled because the doctor called out, they were still able to fit me in super close to my original time scheduled so I didn't wait long at all! They said that dr wouldn't be in could I reschedule I said my dogs ear is really bad they said to come. My mom has a 14 year old chihuahua/pomeranian. She's blind, deaf, her teeth are rotting, she's recently lost weight and sleeps all the time. She called the vet and explained the situation and as heartbroken as she is it's time to put her down. Based on what she explained on the phone, they agreed and told her to dig a hole and prepare to deal with the corpse. My mom spent all weekend mourning her dog and preparing, knowing this was what was best. When she got to the appointment, she paid for the put down service. They took the dog in the back without her, despite saying she could go in with her and did an exam. They did not tell her on the phone that that would be happneing. The vet came out and said the dog still has a quality of life and can't put her down. Instead, here take these antibiotics for her teeth and she'll be fine. That's not true, a year ago my mom had taken her to the vet got her antibiotics and the infection just returns because she needs a full $3000 dental extraction. They insisted she had to take them despite her trying to refuse the service. It was a total bait and switch just to take her money. They ended up charging her $150 for the visit and meds and refunding her the remaining of what they had her pay up front for the put down service. Why on earth would they have her pay up front for that if they weren't going to do it??? My mom is disabled and doesn't have a job so she told them she can't afford that and additionally, she just lost her living situation and where she's going, can't take the dog with her. She explained this to them, and that she didn't want to put her already unhealthy, nearing death dog through the stress of rehoming. They gave her a list of a few places that supposedly take in senior dogs. She asked what she would do if they're full, they said take her to THE POUND!! so just delay the innevitable, she'd be put down if she had to go to the pound, and cause the dog to suffer abandonment. Give me a break! What kind of unprofessional service suggests that when my mom is already having to make this difficult choice on a dog she loves dearly. She called all of them yesterday and they're all full. Go figure. She also told the vet she didn't want to put her through the stress of rehoming when she's already old and ill and mind you, that dog is utterly attached to my mom's hip, the vet said "They acclimate well". You say you're advocating for the dog and that it still has quality of life, but it's blind to the point where its regularly running into walls hurting itself, it doesn't get out of bed, it's very obviously at the end of life, but you just want to delay it and make more money off of someone in a desperate situation. Literally the worst vet experience. I can't believe you put my mom through that. Don't go here! read more

So disappointed in this clinic. Have been coming here for over 30 years, but looks like it's a corporate owned vet clinic now. Charged me an urgent care visit of $175 vs. your regular clinic price. Upon arrival(early visit @8) there's an empty waiting room and young vet techs just cackling in the back. Go to pay and there's just 2 people waiting in the waiting room for their pets. I apologize for any delay in crafting this journal entry... I've feared reprisal from this office full of unfriendly people due to blowing the "proverbial whistle" on unethical treatment for me, my Mother & my dogs & cats. Several years back, I wrote this original review. Unfortunately, there was no way of knowing how unfortunate this Veterinary "Clinic" really was for my beloved canine (pup) Sugar. Sugar & Poopie Buck Thomas... My cherished Chihuahua. At first it appeared that we were cherished clientele. However, with time Dr. Barrett or Barnett?(? unsure of correct spelling) began to rush & I mean RUSH us out of the room where we waited to tell our side of the story as far as Sugar & Poopie Buck & what appeared to be ailing her & him. He appeared non-responsive & "short" in diction; neither behavior was called for, nor did it help Sugar &/or Poopie Buck Thomas; he only made her more nervous. Sugar's symptoms continued to grow more & more symptomatic such as panting in ambient conditions, vomiting, nausea, refusal to eat regarding diet changes to entice her appetite, and more. Plus! lest I forget; GUZZLING Water even during the night when we were tucked in bed she'd be up and urinating huge I mean HUGE quantities of urine; an unquenchable thirst lasting greater than 3 years. To make a long-story a wee-bit shorter, he continued to tell me she was 'fine' & to stop worrying. He DID NOT explain anything about the diagnoses he mentioned; without helpful details nor an apology for her & my & Poopie Buck (Sugar & Poopie Buck WERE Unstoppable together). It's as if he (Barnett) would drift off into outer space leaving us behind & praying for remedies or a remedy for Sugar (Sugar-Bear to those who know she loves being titled & called that adorable name). The solution you may be asking???? I finally took her to Jules Veterinary located in Tracy, CA. We'd been clients here since they first opened & Dr. Valdez (unsure of ethnicity) cared for Sugar and all my babies if memory serves me well. Here Sugar was much more managed as far as her health went & I could get some sleep as she wasn't up all night vomiting & purging the contents of her gut. It hit me!!!! I need to request a full refund for all the wasted time & energy & comfort (SUFFERING and she suffered, as did me and my Mother who went through sleepless nights & days worried sick and caring for her. I crafted a professional but "crystalline review" of the receipts I had from Community Vet Clinic & entered those losses without/cure and asked for a full refund also putting in there Sugar's health bills for finally getting her treatment we could trust; at least for myself as I can't speak for our canine & feline counterparts who are a part of our family; from Jules Vet Clinic. The bills were greater than $2000.00 I believe per my memory & I turned around deposited it & applied ALL the monies returned towards the Charges I incurred seeking humane not, but kind treatment for Sugar & Poopie I believe. Again, it's been several years more like close to 3 I think but the details speak for themselves. It was Community Vet who personally? professionally? brought my attention to the LIFE-SAVING invention of a line of credit built for loving caring individuals seeking care & solutions for their ailing "animal" counterparts. I applied on the spot & was approved. I'd use this line of credit for some time & miss it so much even now. It can have a line of credit to it such as MasterCard like mine did. Originally it was just a line of credit used only at select vendors who accepted the card. I depended on that line of credit which I made payments on for years. I really need that card back in action again. The next thing I knew, they responded via silence & payment to me; issued. I've never felt the same about this unfortunate situation but since I am a journaler, it's my responsibility to document this information to help other innocent creatures seeking treatment here to consider and ponder this honest true-blue intelligence. The payment cleared the bank & I continued treatment with Sugar-Bear (nickname) at Jules Veterinary Clinic in Tracy, California; nearly 50 miles due North-East of where we reside in Turlock. My Mother was worried the entire time about Dr. Barnett??(spelling; he was a super tall and totally bald Caucasian male per my observations) being healthy enough to treat Sugar and Poopie Buck; at least that's what her input was when speaking to me about Sugar & Poopie Buck needing quality & affordable veterinary care. I haven't been back there for treatment since they settled (got off cheap in my opinion as your dealing with LIFE! Came in, checked my kitten, and walked out. Only there for his time and to collect his money. I left feeling that this veterinarian didn't care. I was told that this property was purchased and is now a corporation. Not sure if it is correct. This is obvious; their purpose is money, not animal welfare. I will not be back. First time using this facility and I was very happy with the care my pet received. Good quality reptile vets are not easy to find. At first I was a little apprehensive, because some vets say they can treat a snake, but in reality they're pretty clueless. However, once Dr Barrett walked in and skillfully handled my boy all doubt was gone. He knew exactly how to work with him and had zero fear or hesitations. Not only that, but he wasn't in a huge rush like other doctors are. I've come here for my dog in the past they were great then ...Looking for an exotic vet can be pretty hard especially one that also takes parrots! I've taken a couple of my birds here and every time it's been great . Dr. Barrett was super gentle and calm with my big boy in the picture (well as gentle as you can be with a big parrot trying to bite , and get away . All while screeching.) The ladies up front have always been pleasant and helpful. I can always get appointments pretty easily which is also a huge plus ! This place is pretty amazing. I have a cat that is extremely difficult at the vet and Uber aggressive. She also has a history of diabetes. After taking her to her reg vet on an emergency visit, her being caged for 3 hours and never examined, I had been told take her off insulin (without checking her glucose) and charged a emergency visit fee. She was still really sick. I brought her here and they checked everything for her. They had a full blood panel the same day and a fecal sample the following day. They were kind, thorough, and patient with both myself and her. I called wayyyy to many times. I had so much anxiety after the last fiasco and having watched her be sick for over a week. I really appreciated the kindness from everyone. The front desk to the doctor himself, they were all AMAZING! I can't thank them enough! read more

SO RUDE. Ive been going here for years, and unfortunately will not be back. And if i could give 0 stars, I would. I had a kitten appt yesterday at 11am. I walk in with my kitty, and there were three girls chatting. It took them a few seconds to stop talking to each other and acknowledge me. I had my kids in the car, and was wanting to hand off my cat to get the two vaccines she needed. They said they couldn't come in. One of the ladies then said I couldn't bring my baby kitten in without a carrier. I did not have one, since she was such a calm BABY kitty. She said I needed to go home and get one. I know they have cardboard carriers so that was very frustrating. I then went home, grabbed a carrier and headed back. The lady took my kitty and said I couldn't wait inside with my two kids, both under 3. I sat outside waiting for my kitty while being with my kids. One of the ladies comes out with my cat and gives me an appointment time. She did not ask me if that would work for me or not. It very unfortunate because I love Dr Barrett. And I get things with this world wide virus, but you can still be KIND and loving. That is priceless for me, and I did not get that here. read more

I'm not sure how this clinic is with cats & dogs, because the service is kind, but if you have a small/exotic pet such as a rodent or reptile, I would HIGHLY advise that you NEVER take them here. I don't know if my hamster's treatment was because they didn't know what they were doing or if it was intended because they didn't care about him & just wanted my money but he didn't receive the care that he needed or the death that he deserved. First, they made our quality of life appointment at 11:50am, & then when we got there slightly late (11:56am - hit some traffic) they told us that all the doctors went to lunch because they have it at 12:00pm so originally they were only going to give us 10 minutes to complete his euthanasia but instead, we had to drop him off & they didn't even call us back for the appointment - an actual doctor NEVER even spoke with us ONCE. The receptionist/technician just passed the news along when they called us to come back, they pushed VERY heavily that they thought it wasn't his time yet and that if we gave him medication then he could make it, even though he was very old, couldn't run on his wheel, and was struggling to eat/drink. Honestly, I'm not even sure I believe a DVM looked at him at all. So, we took him back home & gave him the medication, & in the morning we found him passed away. He got all stressed out for no reason when he could've just had a peaceful death. Plus, we had to keep the body for 2 days because no pet cremation places were open over the weekend but if they had just done their jobs, instead of trying to sell us their medication we wouldn't have had to stress about not getting to cremate him because that was an awful feeling. Not to mention, we had taken our hamster here previously when he was younger because he had an ear infection & they said he only needed to take the medications for 2 weeks but he ended up needing them for 3 & 1/2 months, at the time I thought he was just super sick but now I think they did something wrong with that treatment as well. On top of this, they handed us the exact same medications that they gave us for his original ear infection, even though they weren't really effective. In conclusion, either their greed for money, carelessness, or ignorance/lack of knowledge caused my hamster to suffer for longer than he needed to & he almost didn't even get a dignified death. If you don't know how to treat hamsters then just say so - don't waste my time & money. I am beyond angry with them, made the emotional toll of loosing him SO much worse. Seriously, take your exotic pet anywhere but here - they don't have your pet's best interest at heart, I promise you. I mean I'm just a veterinary student whose only taken one class on euthanasia & none on rodent medicine yet but even I knew it was his time. They are an awful exotic pet hospital and shouldn't even be qualified to accept them as patients. Absolutely unacceptable - I would give 0 stars if possible. read more

Be sure to check what they are charging. I was quoted an amount via email, and was charged double the amount for the exam. Although, when calling the offered to place the difference on the account. Also, please note that they charge $25 fee for a tech appointment. I don't know of very many hospitals that have a "tech exam charge" Legally- a technician cannot examine a pet. Only giving three stars due to quick response and able to get pets in quickly compared to surrounding areas, and also offering to refund the difference. We do not use this hospital regularly, we will be going to have charges completely refunded- not sitting on an account that we will not be using, and will not be going back also due to the cost of flea prevention that is 54$ online- that they charge 84$ in hospital. Insane upcharge as the manufacturer does not promote it being sold for this much either. read more

I was so emotional and upset. My snake went missing 6 months ago. He got out of his new cage we got him. Today I got a frantic call from my ex mother in law saying she found my snake in the kitchen. She was scared of it so put it under a box. I got there and it has electrical tape stuck to it's head. I tried to cut it off with rounded scissors and when I pulled the tape away from his face. His eye was getting pulled off. I was clearly very upset and didn't know what to do. Was already late for work. I went to serpentarium in Modesto the kind lady tried to help me. She gave him a bath and tried removing the tape but seen he was bleeding and didn't want to do much more. She referred me to this place. I called them and they got me in urgent care within an hour and half. I got there and was embarrassed because I couldn't stop getting emotionally by crying. The assistants were kind. The doctor came in and took my snake to the back of the office and I couldn't help but think my snake was going to die. He brought him back and the tape was removed with his eye still in tact. The doctor prescribed him some eye antibiotics and thankfully he's ok. My daughter was so happy. I'm so thankful of the work he did. Even though it's cost me $250 including the medication and I'm a single mom just barely making it in this economy. It was so worth it. A new snake would cost $99 and we didn't want a new snake we wanted to save this poor guy who didn't deserve to be in this position. I would recommend this place to anyone that had an exotic pet. I tried calling another vet before I went to the serpentarium and they wanted to charge me $76 for a consult then book me another day to treat him. He had already been underweight from being lost for 6 months and had his mouth completely shut by this tape, plus his eye being torn out. I'm so thankful. read more
