We stopped into Sid's last time we were in town on the way to the farm, and weren't really up to the idea of my sister's "food" out at the family farm. (I'm gonna stop right there before this Yelp review gets me in deep Dutch with my relatives, mmmkay?) Anyway, a big, greasy onion burger with fries just sounded PERFECT. We each ordered a burger; we split a large order of fries. (And the large orders of fries, by the way, are HUGE.) Fancy? Hardly. Nutritious? Probably not. But hit the spot? Oh, hell yes. This place is cash only, so do come prepared to shell out modest amounts of moolah in bills.

You have to sit at the bar and we sat right across from the grill. The whole operation right there in front of you . They give you the fries early while the burgers are cooking. It's casual, but clear that someone has put thought and energy into making it a welcoming environment. Place was full when we came in, but they got us seated shockingly quick. There were a few minor missteps along the way, a forgotten item on the order, but with all of the tables and people it was understandable - and the warmth of the service and the quality of all the other food more than made up for it. The pizza was good - their specialty pie with honey was the standout for me. And the fact that they have monthly specials? I loved seeing that they continue to tinker and innovate - that's a major green flag and tells you about their priorities. In doing reviews, I think there can be a tendency to try to speak to perfection - "it's the best ever," "it was flawless," "100%," and on. Dudes will talk for hours about rankings, and so much internet ink has been wasted on arguing which of two good things is better. People are weird like that. I'm weird like that. Writing this made me think about perfection, because the temptation here at the end is to talk about how it's the best I've ever had or something. And that just misses the point. What I really loved about our night at B&J's was how honest it was.
