I highly recommend this campground. Are there rules? Sure. However, they let you know about the rules before you even book. It's literally spelled out on the website. Sue, Pete, and Dave were all really helpful. We've always stayed in Bar Harbor and never explored this side of Acadia. We only had one night booked as this is a stop on a bigger journey and I would definitely book again. We took Sue's recommendation and drove out to Raven's Point and despite the rain and fog, it was amazing. We also grabbed dinner next door at Tracy's seafood and everyone enjoyed their meals. The shower house is clean and well maintained. As someone hoping to do some night photography on this trip, I appreciate no outdoor lights except campfires after 9:30 rule. It was too overcast this trip but fingers crossed for the next.

We booked our stay in March 2025, and reserved an ocean front back in site water electric. We arrive and they have is in a pull through across from the Ocean Front site we booked water and electric. My wife called the office to see if a mistake was make and Brenda at the office implied that my wife had no idea what she had reserved even though we had an email confirmation showing we had reserved an ocean front site. Brenda then completely dismissed my wife saying well we don't have any available anyway. There was no attempt to make this right whatsoever. We understand booking issues arise but for no communication prior to our arrival of the change was frustrating especially since we would have chosen a full hookup site had we been informed of the unavailability of an ocean front site. Our site was incredibly unleveled causing us to be unable to use the main entrance to our camper requiring our guests to walk through our bedroom to gain access to the bathroom and living room of our camper. We had emailed the campground about the experience as their handout requested to contact them before writing a bad review. Well it's over two weeks later and no one has responded to my wife's email. I would strongly recommend you skip this KOA they certainly do not care about your experience just your money!

With this being said we wanted to stay an extra night. But, now we had to pack everything up & move the RV to another site (of their choice) for just 1 extra night because someone was coming in for the site we were already on for the past 5 days,... (that they also were forced to choose ahead of time). ‍ The old original system worked beautifully! Do not like the new requirements or the new jacked up prices. We walked around the other campsites and they were quite close to each other and not as much privacy. The Picnic table at our campsite could be updated. The Campsite overall has a fairly flat area and plenty of space for our 6 person tent, coleman tent over the picnic table and chairs. The check in process was easy and directions to our campsite were easy to follow from the map they gave us. Note, there is a water station next to the check in house (we only found about it on our last day). You will have to get firewood (easily found as you come into Acadia), ice ($4-5 a bag) and shower (practically outside the campground for 1.75 cents for 1 min 45 sec of shower ...add 25cents for extra 15 seconds). The bathrooms are clean. The only thing was that they ask you not to was at the sink ; rather bring water to your campsite, wash it there and just bring back the dirty water for disposal - bring a water bucket or two. The campground is very centrally located and we found ourselves only about 20 minutes or less from all the places we wanted to go to.

There was not a great cover on the mattress, it was torn. I would move and a puff of smoke would envelope me. When I asked about it I was told that no one had complained in 25 years... Follow up question was "You have not changed the mattress in 25 years?" I was looked at like I was crazy. Needless to say, we cut our 3 day visit to one night and got out! I have to say, the folks there were nice. They offered to let us change Kabins, they offered to give us a different mattress. (I had already booked a new place by then.) Seemed like loads of fun for kids. (Weird but fun...Halloween in August...loads of trailers with tons of Halloween gear. ??) The facilities are just old. Not what you expect from a KOA.
