Brambley Hedge is a no-kill, non-profit rescue, open since 1986. Their intakes are from other rescue agencies only and while they do not accept any rabbits from the public, their rabbits are adoptable to those looking for an adorable fluffy friend. I initially had contact with them when my first bunny, a sweet and super chill Netherland dwarf, passed away and my widower bunny gal needed a companion. We did a few speed dates with bunny bachelors from both Brambley Hedge and Tranquility Trail and while I liked both rescues, my little lady got along best with a headstrong Angora mix from Tranquility Trail. Fast forward to the present day. The wildlife rescue where I volunteer at received a pet rabbit someone had brought in, found outside in the Phoenix area with a badly broken leg. It had appeared to be an old injury. In working and volunteering with rescues you see a lot of animal neglect and cruelty. Imagine the type of person you'd have to be to keep a bunny that has a painful looking broken leg with exposed bone for that long with no medical care, and then dump it outside in the middle of an Arizona summer unable to care for itself nor move around fully. I contacted Brambley Hedge who responded swiftly. They were able to take the little fellow in and have one of the vets they work with examine him. The staff and I were very grateful they were able to welcome him to their rescue. Thanks for all you do for the little bunny folk, Brambley Hedge! Clearly the woman Denise who left a negative review never read her adoption form which stipulates BH has the right to remove the adopted rabbit at any time if they deem necessary - in cases of abuse and neglect. Apparently Denise thinks it's appropriate to leave her domestic rabbit outdoors and in a hutch away from the family. I have adopted from BH numerous times over the past 4 years without issue. They don't sugar coat things if you are wanting a rabbit that doesn't suit your lifestyle. They have the rabbits interest at heart always and are a reliable & consistent source of information. Wouldn't it be just wonderful to know all of these reviews are a complete & accurate description of this place? Well, I've a review to write & this may sting a bit...but it is completely true & honest. Yes, rabbits are wonderful pets & hoping to fill my bunny-void with more bunny-love I turned to Brambley...even drove out from Albuquerque (8-hrs away) After working with the staff for several weeks, completing much paperwork, I was ready to make the trip to meet Rosa-Marie for the first time. She was just 2 or 3 at the time. I brought her back to Albuquerque where she was a welcome addition to our family & a favorite of my daughters. She lived with us for about 5-yrs or so. Around Oct.'13 Rosa escaped from her hutch, through our fence gate which had blown open during high winds. This had never before occurred. She was subsequently hit by a car (my neighbor) who took her into the animal shelter. The animal shelter scanned her for a microchip & saw that she 'belonged' to Brambley Hedge Rabbit Rescue Group in AZ. Brambley phoned me at work & asked me where Rosa was. Of course I was beside myself confused; not only that after 5-yrs they were calling with such a silly question, but that her where-abouts were in question at all. They were very accusatory & rude to the point reluctantly providing me with any information on MY RABBIT of 5-yrs. I was finally able to speak to a manager who informed me on what occurred. I contacted the animal shelter & indicated i would be there immediately but upon arriving with my daughter was told they were stuck in the middle & could not give me back my injured rabbit. The director of animal services called Brambley & we discussed the matter via speakerphone. The words out of the mouth of Brambley was that they would hire an attorney & sue if Rosa left the facility. Nevermind she was lying in pain waiting with a mangled broken back leg & that I was ready to spend whatever it cost to get her well, nevermind my daughter sat there crying because this insane volunteer kept repeating that it was our fault Rosa was hurt...Nevermind she had been in our care in a superb environment with inside/outside home access for the past 5 YEARS. What it came down to was transfer of ownership and Brambley never made me the rightful owner, despite paying over $100 to 'adopt' her, the intention was to never do so. They still owned Rosa. They leased me a pet rabbit. Whoever heard of such a thing?! They decided she was not being properly cared for (despite this one-time freak accident). They decided they would come get her. I could not give the go-ahead for her necessary leg amputation. She lay waiting for days for this fanatical group to get their S*** in order and ultimately she ended up passing away during her surgery. The director of the animal shelter in Alb indicated her age had more to do with her passing but that laying around waiting did not help. He(director) also disclosed to me that this is not the first time such illogical, erratic, ignorant rescue group actions have benefitted noone. *****If you decide to "Adopt" from this crazy outfit, check that chip & make sure the animal is yours....you just may have a leased pet on your hands & they may decide to come get it after as many years, after you have grown attached to your new family member....Tragic for a 7-yr old & myself.. Shame on you Brambley~ for letting down an innocent rabbit who lay suffering waiting for someone to help her. read more

Rabbits make great pets. They're full of character and do spectacularly goofy convulsive leaps around your house when they're happy. Yes, you can get them neutered/spayed (which is advised, otherwise you you'll have lots and LOTS of leaping bunnies). Plus, you can litter box train them. Like a cat! (Only better, because it's cuter, it hops, and doesn't vomit hairballs in front of dinner guests.) But sadly, most people don't know that, and a lot of people buy them as cute fuzzy gifts, cram them in a little cage, get tired of them ("all it does is sit in that cage!") and then let them go outdoors so they'll be 'free.' Usually the poor domesticated buns end up dead instead. But if they're lucky, someone finds them and takes them to Brambley Hedge Rabbit Rescue, a rabbit-specific shelter where they can get attention, outdoor playtime, love and socialization. If you're looking to adopt a rabbit, please call these guys first. They have lots of rabbits that need a good home. Brambley Hedge Rescue is the best thing that ever happened for Rabbits. People take in zillions of bunnies every year around easter, not knowing they take a little more care than a dog that runs free out in the back yard. It is dedicated rabbit lovers that take in and care for the poor rabbits that no-good people simply let loose when they dont want to full-fill their responsibility. I give them 0ne Dollar $1 every time I buy something online. You can do it too! It is MUCH BETTER CHARITY than the big ones, you dont know where that money goes. I finally stopped by this thrift shop. They use the donated items sold profit to help rescue rabbits. How absolutely adorable is that? The thrift shop has some good stuff. Like all thrift shops, it's a different store each time you visit. I did spot a few great items for Halloween costumes and theme parties. The best part is that it isn't picked over like the Goodwills and not nearly as crowded. I was also able to find some super cute vintage picture frames and other odds and ends. I will make sure to donate my next "clean out and get rid of stuff" bags to Brambley Hedge Rabbit Rescue. They have rabbits in the store too!! It's worth a stop by... see you there! read more

It was great visiting BHR because they were so informative on educating me on caring for my new baby bunnies!!! I bought couple of chew toys and they were even kind enough to give me a disposal carrier for my new bunnies for free. And I'm not even getting my bunnies from them, I'm taking my bunnies from my inlaws. But they still gave me a ton of packet info. They also have a nice thrift store. And cute bunnies who need a caring home, they were all so sweet!! read more

Hello - we live in Tucson. We adopted our Beauty Bun Bun in 2010 from Brambley Hedge. She is a special-needs bun, as she had an abscess in her lower jaw when she was rescued by them. We've had to have her teeth ground down every 3-4 months since that time by the bunny vet, since she has no lower teeth on that side to grind against the top teeth. When we went to adopt her, we were shown 10 different buns from their rescue whom they felt might be suitable for us, since we were first-time bun adopters. We love our Beauty. She is between 9 - 10 years old now, and is a delight. We would adopt again from Brambley Hedge in a heartbeat. I would advise you to seriously consider adoption as opposed to purchasing a bun. I've been coming to this thrift store to shop for many years. The things that are consistent about this place are: (1) True thrift store pricing. For instance, clothes and accessories are $1, $2, and $3. Named designer items are only slightly higher. Other household items are also bargain priced. (2) A cheerful and helpful staff. The cashier is very sweet and friendly. She'll chat if you feel like it, but will not force conversation if you don't feel like talking. A lovely person. (3) A gentleman who works there is also fun to chat with, and has a great sense of humor. (4) Place is clean. I understand that volunteers come frequently to sweep, vacuum, etc. (5) Volunteers are passionate about rabbits, and also very knowledgable. If you have questions about your bunny, or want to adopt one, they can answer your inquiries. (6) I can be confident about recommending this store to others, who always contact me afterward to let me know that they found something wonderful, for a rock-bottom price. read more

I love what this organization is doing for bunnies. Unfortunately we live a ways away but support them whenever we can. They even helped us find a "bunnysitter" for our bun.
