I have 3 vehicles from a 88 Landcruiser, 06 Tahoe, 08 H3. These guys are great and take care of all 3. They only charge for work that needs to be done. If they misdiagnose a problem they will not fix it if it does not need it and then charge you and tell you now we have to fix this also. They only repair what needs repaired. Anthony and his guys are probably the most honest automotive guys you will find in North Texas. I took 2 of my vehicles to 4 different shops and got 4 different diagnoses and still did not get them fixed (but paid for it). Anthony and his guys found the problems and fixed them. My brakes were grinding and I knew I needed new brakes. That was the easy part. I went in and told the man that my car was 12 years old, that I would only be driving my car for max 1 more year so I wanted just the basic new brakes. After looking over my car, he gave me 3 options. He said he recommended the mid level brakes, which were $381. I asked him what about the cheaper ones? he said they would be $100 cheaper. So I said I would go with that option, saying again (since the guy giving me quotes was different than the guy I first talked to) I planned on only keeping my car for 1 more year. He said that the cheaper brakes would squeak when heated, and I told him "ok..that's fine"..he kept saying "it's gonna squeak loud, like pretty annoying"...He seemed irritated that I wanted to go with the cheaper option. First of all, I'm wondering..why the heck would you sell new brakes that squeak?? isn't that a problem itself? and second, I'm wondering if he would have told my husband the same thing if he was there???? Ladies beware ... These guys tried to rip me off big time yesterday. I took my Mercedes in because the" check brake pads" light came on. I was not experiencing anything that seemed dangerous when I was driving. These guys called to tell me it was extremely dangerous to even drive it off the lot after they told me it would cost $1600! They also gave me this long story about how the parts needed were very hard to find and that it needed to have the calipers replaced immediately..They sure did a great job of scaring me. They tried a few times to get me to leave my car. I called the Mercedes mechanic I know and had him talk to the guy behind the counter. After talking to him and asking him certain questions about the breaks, it was obvious these guys were lying or didn't know what they were talking about. These people are horrible. They started out with telling me it would be over $500 to get my back breaks fixed. When I told them "no thanks" the guy said it isn't absolutely necessary right now to get certain items done and maybe I didn't need the high end brake pad. When I still balked, he then tried the scare tactics...probably wouldn't make it home, he was reporting it to CarFax, etc...really hard sell. Took 1 of 3 cars in for inspection, 700+ dollars later (power steering pump that showed no signs of issue needed replacement - kept car for 3 days). Will never go back. The repairs were whatever, sometimes things happen. But not being able to communicate isn't a car problem. This place has been around for years but is under either new ownership or management and maybe that is the reason why customer service has declined. First, they want to do unnecessary work. You get there for a brake job and they will tell you without even inspecting the vehicle that you probably need new rotors. They will scare you and tell you that you need a lot of repairs. I tested them last time. I took my vehicle to get my brakes inspected and they told me that I needed a brake job, rotor, and other parts and labor. Then I took it to the dealer and the dealer did not agreed with them. Another thing is that they talk down to you and immediately take a position where they make you feel like you don't understand anything. To me this was funny because I have a graduate degree in science so it was funny, but offensive at the same time. read more

These guys are great. I went in because I thought I needed my brakes changed. I noticed they did oil changes also, so I had that done as well. They suggested I get the free alignment inspection as well, so I obliged. They called me later and told me my brakes were still in great condition and they didn't want to change them too early (no charge for the inspection). They did tell me my alignment was out, so I had them fix that instead. I worked with Anthony, Mark, and Brian & all 3 were very helpful. They were polite, timely, and thanked me for my business. I originally went to NTB for an oil change special and they wanted to charge me over $1000 to replace all my brake pads PLUS put in new rotors!! I called Discount Tire on Ohio Drive in Plano and they recommended Brakes Plus next door for my brake pad replacement. After reading many positive reviews, I went ahead a gave Brakes Plus a try. The moment I walked in, I was treated with the utmost respect and honesty. This is important since I am a single mother supporting a special needs adult son at home. Anthony was amazing. He promised a no hassle free estimate and promised they would not up-sale me on work that was not needed. He held true to his word! I did not need a total replacement of all four brake pads and rotors as NTB told me!!! I only needed the front axle brake pads and only ONE rotor reconditioned. I did however need a new break fluid cylinder because it was leaking. I was quoted $348!! They even matched a competitors $20 off coupon!! They did give me some future repair recommendations and was honest for the time frame I would need it to get done and assured me that these repairs are not needed for safety. Also, I live a couple miles down the road and Anthony, the General Manager, gave me a courtesy ride home and picked me back up when the work was done! I would also like to give a shout out Anthony Wheeler, the manager of this location. He was a manager of a Brakes Plus store closer to my home than this one but they transferred him. When he moved, so did I. His management style and focus on delivering the best results for his clients is second to none. I recently took my vehicle here for a repair. With the caveat that the general manager was out of the store this particular day, the mechanics did an unsatisfactory job with my vehicle. I was to get an alignment done. I exited my vehicle like normal and when I received my vehicle back the interior door handle had stopped working. Speaking with the general manager of the store his response was that "the mechanic said it was broken already," despite me using the handle as well as the mechanic when he first was in the vehicle. The fact that the general manager was not receptive to helping me with this situation has forced me to complain to their corporate HQ. I would not recommend this shop unless you want your vehicle in worse condition than when you initially brought it in. I hope the corporate customer satisfaction manager will respond to my issue more appropriately. read more

This was my first visit at Brakes Plus as I normally go to a shop in Dallas. I was quite impressed with the service and attention to detail I received at this location. Troy at the service counter was super friendly and truly seemed to care about my truck and the maintenance of it. Ryan was my service technician and he was also very friendly and immediately reported an issue that might cause issues down the road and advised me to keep an eye on it. Very rare that you have a service technician inform you of something that looked strange and give you advise on how to keep an eye on it. As far as the work that was done. I went in for a full synthetic oil change but asked that they take a look at my brakes as most recently I felt my truck hesitate when stopping. Almost like the transmission was slipping but only when stopping and accelerating. I explained this to Troy and after looking at my truck it was diagnosed that my truck needed all new brake pads and drums replaced in the rear. I got all of this work done at a very reasonable price. Minutes after driving away I noticed a huge difference in my truck! It seemed as though I was driving a new truck. Thank you Brakes Plus for great service and great job well done. First experience there today. Was referred by Discount Tire where I am and will continue to be a loyal customer. Problem was that a lug nut was cross-threaded and would likely snap the bolt when removed so DT could not do it. I also needed an alignment, oil change, and a serpentine belt installed. I already had the belt as I had planned on doing it myself already. After talking to the staff I decided to just get the nut, oil, and alignment done. After an hour I was informed that they had removed my serpentine belt and asked if I would like the new one or old one put on. Since I had already told them I didn't want them to do that, I declined to pay for the new belt to be installed but if they wanted to put the new one on since the work was happening anyway it made sense. They declined to put the new on on even though they removed the old one (after being told specifically not to) since they don't work for free. Seems to me they already did. I said just do alignment, oil and bolt. Then another hour later my truck was ready. Only the alignment wasn't done. When I asked what they had been doing they said it was difficult to get the old serpentine belt back on. So they cost themselves money by wasting time messing with the serpentine belt when I told them not to in the beginning. They cost themselves more money by not doing the alignment. They cost themselves even more by ensuring I don't want to come back due to perceived incompetence. They then cost me money by wasting my time by keeping me away from a commission based job and while not providing the service I asked for. And to top it off they put all but two of my lug nuts on so tight I can't get them off. Now other than the oil change I'm pretty much right back where I started. I will grant them that they were friendly from start to finish and apologetic at the end. But customer service is more about what one does, not what one says. Perhaps it was just a bad first impression. Yes I'm frustrated and that probably shows here. However, I have done my best to present the facts accurately to the best of my knowledge and not embellish. read more

Everything that could have gone wrong in one week went wrong. It never fails. So of course my car started acting up. I barely got it to start and took it to Brakes Plus. It was almost 2:00 and I had to pick my daughter up from school at 3:30. The manager, Anthony asked me a few questions and knew exactly what the problem was. He said he'd do his best to get it fixed as soon as possible. I have no idea how he worked his magic so quickly but it was ready before 3:00 PM AND they charged me far less that I thought. Being a female that knows absolutely nothing about cars, this is the only place I trust. They always let me know everything that's wrong with my car - problems that needs immediate attention, and potential problems that can wait. They don't try to add on extra services that aren't needed. Plus, they always give me a fair price. I brought the car to the shop for the brake check and repair. I was told that the wait time just to get the car into the bay was 1 to 1.5 hour and decided to wait. About an hour later they told me they were going to look at it shortly. Half an hour later, or 1.5 hr from the time I dropped the car off, the car was still parked in the spot I left it. After losing 1.5 hr of my life waiting on them, I asked for my keys back. They gave it back without a single word of apology or explanation. Extremely inconsiderate. Terrible customer service. Never going back again and don't recommend other customers do either (unless of course you have time to waste). I agreed with previous reviewer. This place is a rip-off and con artist. They mail out a lot of fliers with oil change specials. When you bring the coupon, then will charge a much higher price. They will also make many bogus recommendation services that your car needs, when you declined them, they will change attitude, will not set your tire pressure and top off windshield fluid even though the coupon says those are included. Brought car in for some service work prior to my son leaving for college. His check engine light was on. We were told it was either a $20 fix or an expensive fix. Brakes Plus determined it was the expensive fix. Light never went off brought it back in, they changed some part which I can only assume was the $20 part and the light reset. At this point my husband said the brakes were leaking and to have them check the brakes. My son was told Brakes were fine and car passed inspection. The following week he leaves for college and is in an accident because his brakes failed! We had the vehicle towed and the service station could not believe the vehicle passed inspection the week before. The brake line was fed incorrectly which also ruined the CV joint and we were informed the tires were completely bald. If you are looking for a station that will pass anything this station is for you but if you want to make sure your vehicle is safe stay away! read more
