Discount Tire sent me to Brakes Plus to have this post fixed (I had a flat tire repaired at Discount Tire about a month prior, and the stripped post/missing lug nut was from the same wheel) so Brakes Plus billed Discount Tire for the post repair. Called on a saturday to make appt for alignment for that upcoming monday at 3:30, when i called to confirm on monday they said i never had an appointment made, i got one scheduled again for that day at 1 instead, when i got there they had taken 2 other walk-in cars before me when i was scheduled, told me i had to wait 2 hours before i would get serviced at all and came back hours later to pick up. Update: they tried to say i needed $1000+ worth of "fixing" and couldn't do my alignment until that was done. if only they could do the service i requested and needed without trying upcharge me for things i know i dont need done :( read more

Really Disappointed, took my truck here because my e brake was not disengaging, NO lights or alerts. They said the job my truck required was not something they could do, when I go to pick up my truck, they put a note saying truck had brake light on. As i drive home alert kept going off every 2 -4 mins as if seatbelt was not on and brake light flashing. All i can say is take pics and videos before you take your vehicle here. read more

Stay Away and do not fall for the "positive" reviews you see. I had rotors and pads replaced on their recommendation. After just seven months, I had grinding and braking shaking again. When I took my car back for a "warranty" check, I was told I needed new shocks and struts or the warranty would be voided. This is a 2012 Honda with 62K miles on it. Of course I realized they were just trying to get more money out of me, I visited two reputable, small garages in my area. Both said I had received less than OEM parts and as a result rotors were warping due to the poor quality brake pads installed. Find a garage you know and can work with and stay away from these guys who are only interested in how much money they can take. I will have the reputable garage do the work properly with OEM parts and steer clear of Brakes Plus. read more

I brought my daughter's car (older Honda) here because of how bad the front of the car drove. I did not know if it was the axel, or struts, I just knew that the steering wheel was very shaky and the car had become noisy. I was quoted $1300+ for a new control arm, wheel bearings and a bunch of other things. Right away when they called me they said "it looks like this car has been in an accident on the right side." I suspect they pulled the carfax report to see that it had been in an accident. I was not going to pay the amount of money they wanted because the answer they gave me did not make sense I'm regards to how the entire car drove. When I picked it up the guy said "yeah you should not put anymore money into this car" (the car and engine is in great shape and has a brand new hybrid battery) I found a small, privately owned mechanic, who quoted me $480 to replace the front struts and the car is driving AMAZING now. So basically, Brakes plus was trying to overcharge me by $1000 for a job that wouldn't have fixed it. read more

I went in to get my power steering fixed. The diagnosis was to replace the rack & pinion and power steering pump due to leaks and damage. The next day, I go to pick up the car. The technician explains to me that the steering system is noisy due to air bubbles in the system and that it should work itself out in a few days. I actually paid for the system to be bled properly so air would properly be evacuated from the system. So, I go to start the car and first notice is that the steering wheel is sticky with grease and that they left a screw driver on the floor. My initial thoughts were **SLOPPY AND UNPROFESSIONAL ** Then I go and turn the wheel after the engine starts, AND NOTICE THAT IT'S EXTREMELY NOISY AND THAT I'M HAVING THE HARDEST TIME TURNING THE WHEEL. **The technician never mentioned that the steering wheel would be hard to turn** ((Of course they give me the car back when they're ready to close)) I basically paid over $1,000 dollars to get this issue fixed, and in exchange they give me back a FAULTY and DANGEROUS steering system. I barely made it home while driving with a noisy, hard to steer and STILL defective power steering system. The next morning I go to the Brakes Plus on Evans at Colorado, and they tell me that the power steering pump is defective and it will be replaced at no charge. ** The Brakes Plus on Federal just south of Evans sold me a faulty power steering pump and let me drive away in exchange for the $1,000 I paid for serviced rendered ** This is unacceptable and very reckless that this so called professional repair shop gave me back a faulty steering system. I could of been in a bad accident if I had to steer myself out of a hazard. I highly recommend that you do not get your car repaired here due to negligence and dishonesty. read more

You lost a repeat, loyal customer. I had a 3:00pm appointment today for an oil change. I arrived at 2:45pm, got my vehicle checked in. I was a tad hesitant when the service attendant asked if my car took regular or synthetic oil (2020 Honda CRV), shouldn't he know? He looked it up to confirm it was synthetic after I suggested he do so. Regardless, I handed over the keys, he asked me to sign the work authorization, all normal transactional business, then he asked if I'd be dropping it off or waiting. I said I'd be waiting because I have an appointment. A basic oil change is quick. He said it'll be at least 2 hours. I said, "I have an appointment, and an oil change doesn't take 2 hours. Why the long wait?" He said that they didn't have a service bay available to do the oil change. I left.... Why set an appointment if they can't honor it? Very disappointing. read more

Brought my Subaru in to have the rear brake pads and rotors inspected and replaced. I was quoted $129-$199 per axel when I made the appointment. After the inspection I received a call that I need over $400 worth of repairs on each axel!!! I told him that my regular mechanic had quoted me $263 for the rear axel AND that my front brakes were good for another year and suddenly, miraculously Brakes Plus could get the work done on the rear for $250 and my front brake "would probably be ok"!!! Getting brakes and rotors for my car was easy and the staff made the whole process as quick and seamless as possible. I started to hear a deep groan from the car every time I needed to brake. My brakes were bare and it was metal on metal on my front brakes. But I just needed my tires aligned and I was recommend by Discount Tires. From the get-go they said, "they were booked and the only appointment was at 4pm but when I showed up there was not a single cars in any of the 5 bays. Everyone standing around. "Kids," yelling in the back in very deep voices, ruff housing. That guy should be gone. The tv was playing up-sales. Not to mention my tech was already talking about extra costs. Went into Brakes Plus on 2319 S. Federal Blvd because my parking brake light was on. I received a call a couple hours later with an extensive amount of items. Justin Romero the manager told me it was very dangerous to drive my vehicle because it needed a Master Cylinder, brake flush, wheel bearings, ball joints, control arms, and an alignment. He said it would cost $3039.59 to fix it!!! I told him I would go pick it up. I took my truck to my mechanic for a diagnostic and he said it was my instrument cluster! I saved THOUSANDS of $$$! They very well may fix cars well. I'll never know. This review is because my husband and I caught them in at least two lies before they ever even started working on our car. We made an appointment online for 1PM. We showed up at 12:45 to drop off our car. They were polite and explained that they would call us when they determined what the car needed. Then they took the keys and then assured us our car would be ready by 5PM (same day). This would prove to be Lie Number One. Afterwards, we decided to walk down Federal (which I don't recommend, by the way) and get lunch while to kill some time. At around 2:15, while we were waiting for the bus back to our place, my husband called to see if they'd looked at our car yet. The person told him that they'd just brought it into the bay. This was Lie Number Two. We boarded the bus at 2:30 and it just so happened to pass the Brakes Plus. Where our car sat, unmoved. After they had promised us it would be ready by 5PM the same day. We then got off at the next stop, huffed back to the shop and picked up our car without them ever so much as glancing at it. It's highly unlikely that the brake job would have been started and finished in those two and a half hours. But to be clear, that's not what upset us. If they had been honest when we arrived and told us that our car wouldn't be ready until tomorrow, that would have been fine and we would have just caught the next bus home. It's because they lied to us first about the time frame and, second, about working on our car when it hadn't been touched (not to mention the almost two hours wasted waiting for nothing) that we are angry. I called Brakes Plus on Federal two days ago and made a 8:00 am appointment for Saturday morning because I didn't want to take time off work. I even bought the brand of pads that (Motorcraft) but they said that they couldn't use them since " I " bought them. They pulled my 93 F150 4X4 into the bay and the indicator was making the expected noise. Ron... the manager comes to the waiting area and informs me that they are going to need to rebuild my front braking system and it will cost me $$$800.00 PLUS+++ to repair if not more depending what they find AFTER the take off the front wheels. !!! I have done rotors and pads on my truck twice myself. The total cost for quality parts is just over $100.00 and took me about two hours to complete with basic hand tools. A professional can do it in kess than 45 minutes. So Ron/Brakes Plus was attempting to charge me $650.00 on labor if not more!!! I took my Jeep Wrangler in because of severe shaking when I hit the brakes above 50mph. I made my appointment via phone and spoke with Art; he explained that they would check out my vehicle free of charge and give me a call with the repair information. I dropped my Jeep off, Jose gave me a call when the technicians had looked it over, and he gave me my options. There was no pressure, he didn't use scare tactics, he didn't quote me something that I didn't need. He really knows his business and doesn't need to resort to underhanded tactics that other businesses use. He told me what I needed straight up. He also reassured me that when I got my vehicle back, it would be fixed. I felt the good mojo and agreed to the work. I was very impressed. I have been coming to this location for 6 years. This shop has always taken good care of me with oil changes, brake maintenance as well as replacing shocks and struts. I get coupons in the mail, via email and on their website so I am always able to save money. There was a time where part of my undercarriage was dragging on the ground due to a bolt falling down. I wasn't sure what to do so I stopped by and they took a look and fixed it quickly and without charging me for any of the work. It may have been a minor repair but I appreciated the service. Additionally if you need pads or shocks/struts, and plan on having your car for awhile, get those that have lifetime warranties. I went in for maintenance recently and needed pads, shocks and struts and because I bought them here 4 years ago (after putting on 67,000 miles) and with the lifetime warranties, I only had to pay for labor, rotors, brake cleaning, alignment and the hardware (the shocks, struts and pads were covered 100%), making my bill less than $300 instead of $950! I am always a little leary of having to take my car in somewhere, because I know nothing about cars, and I usually feel like these places are feeding me a line of crap. But when I went for an alignment today, I was extremely pleased. Firstly, it is very easy to schedule an appointment online, so that you don't have to wait around longer than necessary. I made an appointment at 9:00am, walked in at 8:50am, and they had already pulled my car around by 8:53. I told them that I had seen a coupon online, but my printer was not working, and wondered if they would still honor it. I showed them the coupon from my phone, and they honored it, no problem. When the work was done, a gentleman met me with print-outs that illustrated the "before" and "after" of the alignment, and what that meant, and was not impatient with my questions or condescending. There was also no sales pitch or pressure to sell me a mountain of other parts or services. I will recommend this location, and I will return if I need services that are offered here. I simply needed to replace one brake pad and the guy quoted me at over $700. He said I had a broken wheel bearing and my front axle was grinding. I pay close attention to my vehicle and it was 100% fine except the brake pad when I brought it in.He wanted to charge me $500 for the wheel bearing and I said no cause I knew it was not an issue. Now I'm driving and concerned since the grinding is terrible. These scum bag criminals will damage your vehicle and charge you to fix it. Other brakes plus locations have been fine. read more

AVOID THIS BRAKES PLUS! I used this location for years and had many honest alignment jobs done for $67, but about 3 months ago, things changed. I came in last week for routine alignment, they took my car into the shop, and a new guy named Scott came out and said that my car needed 4 new struts (a $1220 job) or they would never be able to align my car to spec. When I asked why, he said "cause they are designed to wear out". Instead, I went to a different Brakes Plus the next day and had the alignment done without any strut replacements.
